  • World premiere at IDEF 2019, the Defense Exhibition in Istanbul, for the MAV Marine Assault Vehicle dubbed ZAHA designed and developed by the Turkish Company FNSS. This a new generation of tracked amphibious armored vehicle which has been greatly anticipated by the sector due to a limited number of comparable vehicles in the same class, principally because of the challenging requirements and highly specialized mission definition associated with these vehicles.

Actually that's not true. What is now Turkey was Persian for a long while, then it was Greek, until Rome took it, and held it for a thousand years. There had been Greeks there for thousands of years until just the last century. The Turks only arrived in the 13th century and only captured the whole of Turkey in the 15th century.
Turkey was Christian for far longer than it's been muslim.

this amphibious assault vehicle actually doesn't introduce any improvement over the American designed AAV7, which is basically a 50 years old project with a service life extension redesign. The latest prototype of the AAV7 SU, survivability upgrade it's basically what inspired this ZAHA. The Zaha has the same water speed and land speed of an AAV7. None has understood that the real upgrade is a high water speed vehicle capable of projection to shore over the horizon view with a water speed of minimum 25 -30 knots. The Expeditionary fighting vehicle or EFI was an attempt to develop a prototype of a vehicle with high power output and a variable geometry hull. With at least a 2000 hp engine or a gas turbine, this goal is achievable. The Zaha in conclusion it's a modern redesign of a 50 years old LVTP7 or an upgraded AAV7.

@@3dvorator adding later, you simply mess up the whole design. balance is super important with these.. adding under armor might be enough for a mine but not tank mine.. also. when its rolled over, it needs to be able turn back, you simply keep 19 soldiers.. otherwise, you are not able to make operation during bad weather, then you loose the whole advantage there...
Also, Turkish one able to smoke around with its engine to make it hard to be shot.. so many new futures..

    • @3dvorator

@@tankconquerer5428 buddy, you probably misunderstood, the AAV7 it’s perfectly balanced since it’s a 50 years old evolved platform... the ability to produce smoke it’s a feature 50 years old implemented into the old LVTP7 ( the old name of the AAV7) back in 72 when it was fielded. I’m talking about experience, since I WAS in an amphibious battalion back in1990... I know every single bolt of these machines, the Zaha it’s s nice design, but nothing better yhan an AAV7 SU ... as for the balance, since the center of gravity is very low, the heavy part of an AAV7 is the tracks torsion bars, bulge, engine trans compartment, once it rolls over it instantly turns into buoyancy position...

Those vehicles were never sold to Turkey, so they made their own design and believe me there huge market in the world such as Indonesia and Philippines....
