I was obsessed with them in the 80s. They were my favourite band for quite some time. Crazy is another song worth checking out, that was also a big hit, or Great Southern Land

I love me some Icehouse! They had so many great songs like "Great Southern Land", "No Promises", "Hey Little Girl", "Crazy", "Street Cafe" & many more. The singer, Iva Davies, had such a fabulous mullet.

Me too. Although I prefer all of the songs you listed to this one. That does not mean I don't like EB, it just means I like their earlier synth/new wave flavored stuff better than the standard guitar/rock flavored material. Thanks for listing the songs for me.

@@josephthomas3912 I feel exactly the same, I love all their stuff, but I prefer the earlier stuff more. Their album "Primitive Man" is so freaking good.

This was my favorite song in the world when it came out. Iva Davies has one of the most beautiful, crystal clear male vocalist voices I've ever heard. I encourage you to check out "Crazy" and "No Promises" as possible follow ups.
Also, shoutout to Davies' gorgeous and voluminous mullet.

Song has been on my at-least-once-a-year list ever since it came out.
SO catchy, fun video, great sax, great mullet, etc.

Icehouse so big in the 80’s, now back touring here in Australia. That great mullet of Iva Davies has gone but that great sound lives on
Love “Crazy”, “My Obsession”, “Man of Color’s”
“Nothing too Serious” arhhhh so many

Now that's a mullet! (Even better and more stylish than Billy Ray Cyrus's mullet from his "Achy Breaky Heart Days" in the early 1990s.) Love this song and lead singer Iva Davies, who co-wrote this song with John Oates of Hall & Oates.

I believe John Oates wrote this originally to be a Hall & Oates song, but it ended up as this instead. He does the backing vocals also I’m sure

    • @PjRjHj
      @PjRjHj Před rokem

He co-wrote it with Iva Davies. Then gave Iva the hurry up, else Hall & Oates would record it.

Yesss, Icehouse, pick anything, it's all killer (especially Iva's Super Mullet), not to 'blow our own saxophone' (see what I did there) but Australia nailed it in the '80's. Cold Chisel, Crowded House, Men At Work, Divinyls, Noiseworks, Midnight Oil, The Models, Boom Crash Opera, just a mere few of *my* faves. I'd love you to hear Pseudo Echo's cover of Funky Town, even if you don't react to it, such a kick ass 80's masterpiece. Thanks for checking out Icehouse, hope you do some more. ❤

I loved this song growing up, but I never saw the video until I was in my 30s. I couldn't stop laughing--all those years I had pictured some New Wave, glam-pop band, you know, sharp suits, lots of hair gel and eyeshadow on guys, that kind of thing. The fluffy mullets and super-duper happy drummer totally caught me off guard.😅

  • @PjRjHj

Awesome, such a fun Aussie Anthem. Co-writen by John Oates. It's on the unapologetically mainstream pop end of the Icehouse catalogue. They had great pop sensibilities but normally a bit more new wave, art-pop, and sophisti-pop.
Band leader (and vocalist) Iva Davies was very Bowie influenced. He played the Cor Anglais at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music, with the instrument occasionally showing up in Icehouse songs. Most notably their opus 'Man of Colours'.
Personal favourite Icehouse songs for me are: the above^, Hey Little Girl, Love in Motion, Great Southern Land, Dusty Pages, Stay Close Tonight, Street Cafe, I Can't Help Myself, No Promises.
They often had multible video clips, one for the local market and one for the international.
They were contemporaries of INXS, and started in somewhat similar fashion. I prefer Icehouse to INXS.

I love your reactions, but i remember when this song was released😮 Haven't accepted the concept of aging 😊 i haven't looked yet, but these guys always reminded me of Jonny hates jazz. Hope you liked if you did. If not, maybe check em out😊thank you darling. I so miss the saxxy tunes of the 80s.
