- Who doesn't love a New York slice of pizza? Watch to learn about the rich history of this New York pizzeria and the family that runs it.
At 77, Pino "Joe" Pozzuoli is still a major part of the Joe's Pizza team. The founder of the iconic Greenwich Village pizzeria comes into the restaurant almost every day, and he always samples a slice for quality control. His grandson, Sal Vitale, oversees both the original location and the new East Village outpost.

"i wanna tell u somethin..joe is my name, pizza is my game"
that was Gangster
Sm0kinThug OG
joe is my name, arite, and pizza is my game. that's what i do.
I could listen to Joe for hours, he should do audio books lol, id listen to that shit legit.
"gangster" lmao I would kick his old wrinkly white ass in seconds nothing gangster about this feeble old man who was too dumb to do anything other than flip a pizza around like some circus act. Clown.
ITALIEN GANGISTER
he was so fascinated by that old man at the pizza place he became that old man at the pizza place.

Eric Recentes soon his grandson will become the old man at the pizza place

Thank you, Joe. For giving us Pizza Time ^^
Fancy seeing you here *tips hat*
Yooooooo it’s Marcus.!
Joe’s the REAL Pizza time
this dude is so italian
sounds kinda puerto rican
I hope is an insult.
P S that’s not even close to a Puerto Rican accent.
Guido sounds more like it. Real Italians don’t sound Americanized.
I’m ur 500th like
Oh man this hits all the right notes. Food. Family. Hard work. Loving your job. Not being it it for the money. I wish we saw more of it. Never change Joe's.
Not being about money is right. I went to the downtown Los Angeles Joe's recently and expected slices to be at $5.00 minimum. I got 2 slices (pepperoni and margherita) for under $10.50. After all this inflation, I expected it to be at least $14.00.
When a pizza is made right, it's the best tasting food in the world. And don't let anybody tell you any different.

always wanted to try a new york slice of pizza
+Bald Jesus It's as good as people say it is. Worth the trip my man!
+Bald Jesus i'll get heat for this but try Domino's new york style plain cheese pizza. It's not the real thing but it's pretty damn decent for chain pizza
+Bald Jesus make your own. its not the dough thats hard, its mainly the ingredients, like the sauce, this place probably makes it fresh with their own recipe.
It's amazing. As r the Grey Papaya hotdogs.
+Bald Jesus If you are in London, there is a place called 'Voodoo Ray's Pizza" and they do New York style slices - it's less authentic in that they have loads of different toppings but it is so so so good. Big recommend!
Now that is what a slice of pizza is supposed to look like. I left Brooklyn 55 years ago. For the last 20 I have been trying to get a pie to look like that.
I live in Australia we have some good pizza and some bad pizza, but no Brooklyn pizza.
Great work guys.
A good high quality cheese pizza is all you need for immense powerful flavor. No toppings, no dipping sauces necessary.
Imy Manz
'zactly, the magic is in the marinara sauce, and most people don't get that.
You are saying that in the United States of America there is dipping sauces for pizza, oh mio dio. Disgustoso.
I like toppings and pizza isn't hard to make... Or a secret.
Imy M
Pizza is hard to make? Are you joking me? And when its skimpy toppings its practically free money!
Dude sounds like he came straight off the set of Rocky.
Even though Rocky is set in Philly
Parker! You're late man, always late!
GOOOOoooooOOOOO
The Spanish Inquisition If I flip the pizza Mr Aziz will flip out
woah, didn't expect you
Oh no. Dr connors' class...
Poor Mr. Aziz losing customers to pizza yurt
I seldom comment, but I just have to say-this was simply a beautiful story. The relationship between the grandson and grandfather...just beautiful.
I can't believe all of this beauty and history is just an hour away from my home in Queens, New York. It is truly amazing how unique and diverse New York City is. In many parts of the U.S., all you can see on people's skin are black and white, but here you see white, black, light brown, dark brown, yellow, tan, you name it. Also, on the topic of pizza, New York Pizza is really cheap, costs a dollar for a slice, and is very crispy, cheesy, and delicious.
If you want a good slice, come in when the guy on the left at 2:08 is flipping pies. Usually at night. A little slice of heaven!
Best. Slice. Ever.
Even better than best when you were on the corner, and Joe serving up the pies. Love you Joe! Thanks for years of pizza perfection. Tradition. It's that simple, pure, and soul-satisfying.
I just came to Joe's yesterday. It was crowded since there is a lot of pizza. Every bite was perfect and worth it. I actually chose the plain cheese pizza.
"Pizza time"
LOL😂

I was looking for this
I can't wait to go back. Inexpensive, yet one of the best slices of pizza I've ever had in my entire life.
Love this video, Joe's so passionate about what he does his eyes light up when's he's talking about pizza and when he's talking about his grandson. What an incredible legacy to pass on.
I love authentic family owned businesses. God Bless You Joe and Family.
What a great grandson this man is. He understands the power and the beauty of a family business. Beautiful to watch this story.
That's a blessed man with his grandson. Love and Peace Always.
Best slice in NYC. It's always packed! Great pizza, great people, and great service! Highly recommend if you ever visit NYC!
you know the pizza is really good when the owner talks with mafioso accent.
But seriously, that pizza looks amazing
the mole... it knows all.

Holy Moly
Guaca-molllllyyy
so new york. I half expect Mookie or Alvie Singer to walk past and get a slice. New York culture has travelled the world- and the magic of pizza with it. Ive never stepped foot into new york- but this place just looking at it fills me with a nostalgia for a past that was never mine- but was , thru cinema, music and food.
What was the secret behind joe's pizza? I thought I was gonna learn some secrets,.?
+Nitron DSP where can I buy the ingredient called feeling?
+Mohamad Shamel Joe reaches down his pants, scratches the deep underneath of his balls, And then he make-a da-pizza. Thats the feeling he's talking about.

I went last year and that pizza is amazing. Nothing more nothing less just classic flavor! What a beautiful experience for me and my mother. 🇲🇽
beautiful story and family! and the pies look amazing! 💯💯💯👈 ☺😀😁
Totally. And besides Chicago style, New York style is my absolute favorite kind of pizza.

I'm SO glad that I went to this place both times I visited New York the past few years. Makes me really want a slice now.
and it wasn't on purpose... it was because i was staying in Greenwich and I stumbled upon it after a night of drinking...
Radickly Rick nah, i just like talking to myself in public.
The point of a comment on any online forum is to express your own opinion/experiences/feelings about the topic. So instead of rudely commenting on other people sharing their experiences, go get a life and have your own. Or go fuck yourself, that I would prefer.
+Radickly Rick
you are explaining yourself to random yt commentators?
the fuck is wrong with you?
That's cool, you guys got a picture with kiefer sutherland up there on your wall!
I love that Tobey was featured in one of the celebrity photos.
I have been Joe's pizza customer since 1977, if you want to try a true New York slice, Joe's Pizza is the place. There are handful of great pizza places in New York City, Joe's pizza by the slice is number one.
not quite numero uno but it's up there.
You look good for 77, making pizza all these years have kept you strong and alert for your age. Keep it up.
My love and respect to you both, Joe and Sal, and to your fine legacy! I love pizza and anyone who can make great pizza is loads of awesome in my book. :)
The secret is you gotta love what you are doing . As timevgies on the recipe is slowly perfected. And the yeast takes its proof from say one. Like a fine wine. And the barrel. The shop the oven and the people is the barrel.
Never been to New York, but I plan very soon this is what I'm looking for places, people, and food like this!👍
if you haven't gone yet, look up the pizza show. made by some dude in nyc with a pizza shop but he goes to different ones all around the city. if i ever make it out there, that's something i always thought would be really fun. just spend a day doing a pizza tour around the city. enjoy you trip
Duro Tee take it from this new Yorker. you're gonna love my city. stay for a week if you want to really see all the sights.
Spider-Man swings down. "Pizza time!" He says as he runs inside to grab his previously ordered pizza.
the music that plays in this video just warmed my heart and makes me more deeply in love, it makes me imagine how much i love him
i don't mean him, just someone else.
And who runs his pizza now?
I love pizza too.
for some reason it made me think of star wars
These Guys make an awesome slice and fair priced too & you also give city workers sometimes a little bit of a break, especially the late night Garbage Guys- thank you
That’s definitely the voice of someone I trust to buy pizza from
I’ve known Joe since i was 9yrs old what a great man . Rip Joe
I went here last year in the dead of winter. I managed to drag my parents out to this place, having them trust the fact that I'd learned how to use the subway. The bitter cold winds were ruthless. I could feel my parents judging me every second, right until they bit into their slices. Then it was all worth it. For them and for me. Best slice of pizza I've ever had. Get the pepperoni, put on a little of the Parmesian they have in salt shakers.
Great story about Joe and his history. Here is the point: "When you do pizza, you gotta have a little feeling...you gotta feel what you are doing..." Thanks Joe! "You gotta feel what you do!"
When the dough ball feel like mama mia, you know you gotta feel it. Gonna be gooda pizza pie.
Went here last night while visiting ny…… I can’t describe how good that pizza was. Mannnnnn
One day ill come to your place just to have that awesome slice of pizza. One day.
*BUT DOES IT HAVE A 29 MINUTE GUARANTEE?*
In my experience of enjoying pizza and workin in pizzerias, I've learned one lesson:
The greaser the place looks, the better the pizza is.
Also it's all in the crust
And sauce, crust and sauce.
It is so nice to see family pass on traditional ways. Thank you for sharing...
Very sweet family relationship. And the pie is terrific.
I'm so lucky to be born in New York

Whoa, why so much hate?

God bless this man for making history with pizza😂👌
Thats what its all about... Hard work, respect, and love of family. The ingrediants for true success.
I'm from New Mexico, a very poor state but I'm working my ass off so I can live in the city, I've been dreaming about this pizza and can't wait till I have more in 79 days, first stop after queens. I love you joes. I'll be a New Yorker soon.
"I could eat a whole pizza when i was younger" lmao
This is not good for a pregnant woman to be drooling over. I want to hop on a plane to NY and find these guys NOW!!
Ya know, Hebrew
They have like 4 locations in LA as well. The other son along with the father run them. Its the same exact pie, Im telling you. People say its the water, But every Joe/Joe jr, Will tell you otherwise. There is one in West Hollywood, One in Hollywood and now I think they have a pizza truck as well. So if you live in Southern California, This pizza isn't so far after all.

he talks about the employees being there since he was a kid. this is the first place in New York that I've seen like this. in Chicago this is how EVERY pizza place is.
It's not like it's broadcast I know of other places since I was born in New York
duke yeah but in Chicago you’ll get shot if you walk outside
Too bad the pizza is a thick tasteless mess.
I had the pleasure of trying them on a trip to the Big Apple, the line was long but worth the wait.
Been going to Joe's since...forever! I live in the East 20's (Gramercy) but always made the walk to Joe's on Camine Street.
Then they opened on 14th & Third, a scant 15 minute walk. They didn't skip a beat. Right near NYU dorms and facilities so they feed many.
I've never partaken in a slice with any toppings...not that it wouldn't be great. However, their plain slice is perfection.
never been here. I visited new york quite often though. I typically go to sabarro. Nothing like a traditional new york slice.
If you think sabarro is good you've never had real pizza.
+teh kosta it's a joke from the office.
+teh kosta lol
+teh kosta Pizza Suprema behind madison Square garden is great.

Here in Philly I can buy the same quality and style of pizza at several places in the neighborhood, but I can buy the whole 16" pie for 12 bucks. Back in the 70's I lived in Manhattan for about a year and great pizza was pretty common. With the stiff competition, if your pizza wasn't good you were out of business in no time.
I go to joe's every time I'm in New York , it just feels like home
2:00- So we got Merry (LOTR), Stifler, Jack Bauer, Mickey Rourke, NPH-Barney Stinson, Matt Dillon (The house that jack build), Shady salesman of John Wick and of course Dicaprio.. This "Joe" guy is running the underworld.
The secrets to Joes pizza, doesn’t show us any techniques to make a pizza 🤣🤣🤣
You’re late, I’m not paying for those
Why do I always watch these things when I’m super hungry?
Just brought a whole pie home from Joe's in Ann Arbor after the football game. Kids loved it!! Loved. GO BLUE! (and everyone knows about Joe's because of Just one bite!)
