- Happy October and welcome Tom! Tom is my twin brother! We have been trying to have him react with us for a while! Mom is doing well, and no, Tom is not replacing her. Mom is taking a break here and there since she reacts a ton and it hurts her back and other areas. She moves around a lot and sitting so long isn't great for her.. even with many breaks in between.
All three of us were blind to this! Protect your ears from screams... but Zoom does cut out a few which is good, LOL!

watched streamers play a game called dead by dalight. if dont know: basic gist is killers hunt survivors and killers include movie characters like micheal myers and leatherface from texas chainsaw. anyways normal killers exist in there too and ppl dont like them with how their gameplay is boring. all of them are like that except micheal. players know him despite being human he doesnt feel/act human. he feels like an actual monster considering through out all films tthey can barely slow him down and he ignores alot of inflictions they dealt upon him.
basically the devs did great job on how micheal is suppose to be in the game with how he is like in the films.

This is one of the greatest films ever, not just horror, it's in the library of congress National film Preservation Board as a culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant film that shows the best of American culture, there are 768 films on that list out of millions made. You should watch Halloween II (1981), it continues on the same night right after the end of the first. Carpenter only wanted to do this one film, he thought (rightly so) that it's scarier at the end you see all the places he's been in the movie with his breathing getting heavier. Since as he said Myers is the real boogeyman, he can be anywhere and nowhere in those closing shots. He wanted to show a movie where the good guys don't win, as you can't kill the boogeyman, that is why he is so strong. He was forced to write the sequel, but he handed off directing duties to his friend.
Cabin in the woods is a fantastic movie! Would be so dope for them to watch it!

The woman in the top right was great! I'm 52 and first saw this in the early 80's. The local uhf channel started showing it annually on Halloween. Classic.

This is actually one of the cheapest movies that have ever been produce, but it became such a great success.

It was cheap for sure, but there are soooo many movies that cost less and were filmed for just a few thousand dollars. Blair Witch Project was sooooo much cheaper, too.

Kim has come a long way, since you first started doing reactions together. There's no way she could have stayed in her seat, for this entire movie, back when you first started.

You should react to ‘Us’.
Reason for Michael being able to keep going is that he's full of rage. So much rage that getting stabbed and shot, well he just doesn't react to it. it just pushes him. it makes him strong. he's high on rage and he can't be stopped. the novelization even describes that killing is actually turning him on which is weird. a lot of the questions you ask about him are eventually answered in the sequels. but with the new movie that recently came out, those sequels are no longer a part of the story. Halloween is like one of those choose your own adventure books where you choose where or what you wanna do. it's the same thing here. you can actually watch the movies in these different ways...
Just part 1. Just leave it with Michael escaping. or...
Part 1 and 2. Part 2 continues right where part 1 leaves off. It takes place on the same night. then you can choose not to watch anymore.
1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Part 3 has nothing to do with Michael Myers. It's a separate story on its own. but 4, 5, and 6 continue from part 2 but it takes place many years later and this trilogy of sorts is sometimes referred to as the Thorn trilogy. there are now two versions of part 6, the theatrical cut and producer's cut. Producer's cut follows the original story they had intended. but with the death of Donald Pleasance (doctor loomis) they decided to redo the ending.
1, 2, Halloween H20, and Halloween Resurrection. parts 4, 5, and 6 are ignored. they never happened. Also many fans also choose to ignore Resurrection due to how bad it was. they prefer to just leave it at H20.
Original Halloween and then Halloween 2018. part 2 and every sequel is ignored and a new trilogy starts.
of course there's also Rob Zombies versions but I myself choose to pretend they ever existed.
Now y'all gotta watch Halloween 2018, tis the sequel!

Before you watch Halloween 2018, I think it would be interesting to check out Halloween 2 (1981) first. It's not a great sequel, but better than most of the others. It's interesting in that it picks up just moments after the end of this one. There is, however, a STUPID plot twist that kinda ruins things and becomes problematic for the rest of the series. Halloween 2018 disregards the sequels as well as this silly plot twists and is a direct follow-up to the first film, but I still like Halloween 2 as a continuation of the story.
Yeah. I personally prefer Michael not being related to Laurie and him just not having a motivation.
I like Halloween II and H20 as it’s own trilogy with the first film but I definitely think the new films only being a sequel to the first film was smart.
I hope they watch the 'new' sequel to this 'Halloween' 2018. The original sequel was good, but I feel the character development for Laurie is better with the new sequel. She doesn't know what to do in this one, but the next movie shows what happens when you learn from your past. Anyway, this was a fun review. It's a shame your mom couldn't be there, but it's understandable that she'd need some breaks after doing so many reactions. It was nice having Tom as a replacement. Not a bad debut on his part. And I really like how this channel is a big family affair. Reactions, editing, etc. It does make it feel more wholesome and down to Earth. Oh, and I just knew Kim was going to be freaked out with this and she did not disappoint. Great reaction haha.

The only thing that scares me when it comes to reactions of these type of movies are all the high pitched screaming.
This movie is very Hitchcock-esque. It really bridges the gap between Psycho and the modern slasher film.
Fun reaction to a halloween classic. The Rob Zombie remake looks more into how and why Michael is how he is, many don't seem to like it. I usually agree about remakes but this one was a good thriller. IMO.

You should react to Halloween 2018 it ignored all of the other sequels in that past and it serves as a direct sequel to the original. In the 2018 it takes place in the same town and it focus on Laurie and how that night affected her and her family.
Because this movie set the standards of the horror-slasher genre, Laurie Strode is The First Generation Final Girl. And, like the other 1st Gen final girls, they had to survive through intelligence, desperation, and luck (and purity, per The Rules). Still, John Carpenter and Debra Hill said in interviews, Laurie Strode doesn't survive because she's a virgin. It's because she's able to observe and focus to figure things out whereas her friends were very distracted by boys, sex, and other teen concerns.
Dr. Loomis said in the film that Myers didn't do anything but stare at a wall the entire 15 years he was locked away, which is why no one takes Loomis seriously.
Laurie Strode was a good babysitter. You have to understand that it wasn't unusual for adults to leave the kids alone in the house to run a quick errand, just like people left the doors and windows unlocked in many small towns and suburbs. Laurie thought it was all a trick her friends were playing, but her worry over everything that happened that day gave her reason to make sure. That's why she went to check.
According to Halloween fandom, Myers is thought to be obsessed with art and something of an artist because of his habit of posing his victims and other things.
I hope you consider doing the other Halloween films. Halloween III has nothing to do with Myers, so you can skip it as far as my vote goes. But others like it.

In that way its the same thing Spielberg did with Jaws.
His solution to the problem of having a 'villain that doesn't speak,
was to play the famous Jaws theme every time the shark would appear, or was about to appear.

I used to watch movies with a friend's kids, and when there was a scene where the serial killer/ monster/ zombie was supposed to be dead but it was painfully obvious he wasn't dead, I would say, "Well, I guess he's dead. Might as well turn it off." "He's definitely dead this time. Don't need to even check on him, he's SO dead." "Yep. Totally dead. Time for bed." Annoyed the heck out of the kids.
Storm Akima the Halloween Franchise Timeline y'all watched 1st is the 2nd time while the 1st/Original timeline being Loomis Timeline (Halloween 4 1988, Halloween 5 1989 & Halloween 6 1995) with the 3rd/Final timeline (Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills 2021 & Halloween Ends 2022)!

The thing about Michael Myers is that you're not supposed to know what motivates him. He works best when he's a complete enigma. The more we know about him, the less we fear him.
It's what separates him from other slasher killers. Jason is motivated by his hatred of camp counselors for letting him drown, as well as for the death of his mother. Freddy was a child killer who gets off on killing and wants revenge on the parents who burned him.
Michael is just pure evil, he has no identifiable modus operandi. He just kills because it's in his nature.

Halloween took huge license with stripping Michael of his humanity and allowing him instead to be a manifestation of "pure evil", thereby making him immortal and unstoppable. The Friday the 13th movies followed suit with the unkillable Jason.
Old fashion horror right here. Undoubtedly my favorite franchise of all-time.
What makes this movie stand out from the horror films that it inspired was there was very little gore. It relied on the atmosphere to scare people instead of getting lazy with bloody gory scenes.
My mom always says its hard to kill mean people in horror movies and she is right lol not a horror movie fan but this was good even the 2018 sequal to it. Wonder what they'd think of V for Vendetta
You should watch Halloween II, then Halloween (2018), which is supposed to be the “real” sequel, making the other films in the series void, as it were.
The Directors Cut shows Loomis explaining to the board how dangerous Micheal is and that he should be put in a straight jacket the rest of his life and they declined. That scene really added to the movie if you ever get a chance to see it. Then he has a scene where little Michael is in his room staring out the window in patience.
Those scenes were actually filmed alongside Halloween II in 1981 - they needed some extra scenes added to the original Halloween for television, and they are all pretty good additions to the film

Storm Akima there's at least 1 of 2 subtle ways The Shape got in2 Annie's car: way #1 somehow teleported in2 the car or way #2 he got the keys 4 the car & unlocked the driver door then put them back where he found them while Annie's taking Lindsey 2 the Doyle house/residence!

Kyle Richards, the little girl who plays Lindsey, was also in another fantastic horror movie called The Watcher in the Woods.
I think that one would be right up your alley since there is no gore or violence -- it's much more of an atmospheric supernatural mystery. But it is absolutely scary as hell! It's the first scary movie I loved as a kid (I was a complete wuss as a little kid).
You guys should react to Halloween 2018 it takes place 40 years later (I believe) and it is the direct sequel to this movie
I think it's worth checking out Halloween 2 first, just to see where the series was heading before they were struck from canon.

The 2018 was okay, but it just wasn't scary. It was more like an action movie or something. It was really about the further development of these characters so it was more plot-drive, not scare-driven.

2: MICHAEL MYERS mask is a CAPTAIN KIRK mask painted white.
3: The fall leaf's are actually painted fake paper leaf's that the crew had constantly reuse in takes.
4: They made this film with a $300,00 budget and made $70 million back from the box office wich made it the most successful independent film of that time.
5: The name MICHAEL MYERS was named after an agent that the film maker's described as one of the NICEST PEOPLE they knew.....HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE 👻🎃
This franchise is a whole multiverse of reboots. There is Halloween 2 that takes place the same night as the first movie. Then H3 takes place in it's own universe and has nothing to do with the first 2. Then there's 4 5 and 6 that continue the story after 2. Then there's Halloween H20 and Halloween Resurrection that ignore the existence of 4 5 and 6. Then there's Rob Zombies remake and it's sequel. And finally the most recent movie, also just titled Halloween, that is a direct sequel to this movie ignoring all the other sequels and starting a new line of sequels that will be coming out in the future.
I know this is late but I didn't see it mentioned in the comments. Michael kills his sister Halloween night when she was 17. He goes after Laurie when she was 17 on Halloween. That is the only connection John Carpenter ever wanted between his sister and Laurie, he wanted everything else about Myers to be a mystery which makes him scarier, because we don't know any motives. But all that goes out the window in 2 as you have already seen. John Carpenter didn't want to even make that one.
