This was used absolutely perfectly in the film. We only hear hints of the theme up until Michael Myers gets his coveralls and mask back - when this starts playing in the movie, you KNOW The Shape has returned to continue his killing spree he started forty years ago. John Carpenter is a legend.
The movie was fantastic! I loved every second, it's like I'm watching Halloween 2 straight out of the first one only it's...40 years apart
Actually it is fifty-five years ago. A six-year old boy butchered his sister on Halloween night in 1963.
I loved how he just randomly roamed from house to house, killing everyone he could find.
No supernatural bullshit, just myers.
FallenAngelFilmsLLC I don’t understand why people are calling him “the shape” in this movie he’s a normal human being, he’s he gets shot in the shoulder, got two fingers blown off, and got hit by a car, but anyone can survive that. He isn’t an immortal killing demon thing anymore, and I’m glad he isn’t, making him human, and vulnerable is much more interesting
@@darthvaderthegamecat that's his nickname bro. The Shape becuz he's simply and purely EVIL
that classic sound effect at 0:00 is literally one of if not the best horror movie sound effects of all time.
John Carpenter is an underrated renaissance man.
He can write scripts.
He can direct films.
He can make music.
He has analyses on social perception and actual intellectual publications on social commentary.
Whether you disagree with him, love him or hate him, the man's got no blind spot.
Nice part to be inspired
I know
Too bad Halloween Ends is utter shit.
@@josemanzanilla115 yeah
@@josemanzanilla115 yeah but he only made the music for it
only john carpenter could make an iconic theme even better
basically only the creator can make his own music even better

Yes yay 🖤🎃
Matista217 Indeed. A classic theme updated. Revamped. But still Halloween. Welcome Home, Michael

I think Donald Pleasance would be very proud of this (R.I.P)
If he lived i bet he would have been in the movie
If he had lived i Think he would have Been 99 years old
Would have been awsome
Imagine he would be over 90 years old. Or have his son in the movie. But it Would’ve been cool if they had some people from Halloween 1978 do small cameos in the movie

I know he is
He is!
Now THAT'S John Carpenter.

This is phenomenal, exactly how you make a score for a reboot of something. Know it's roots, and give it a modern touch up. I wouldn't expect anything less from the legendary John Carpenter though
Out of Ideas Productions it’s is but my man it’s no reboot or remake it’s an extension to the HalloweeN universe
It may seem like a reboot, but what it really is, is an alternate sequel to the 1978 original.
Loo
Logan Flores Good! Then they can make Season of the Witch as a sequel to Part III and expand that too.
This is not a reboot

This shit is so gooooooooooooood I'm glad I'm still alive to go and actually see my favorite slasher terrorize the streets
Valentino Kuresa yeah I’m glad I’m alive too
Michael Myers will always be the ultimate bogeyman.
Who doesn't like the best and epic slasher movie. My girlfriend says there wsnt much killing but tbh she doesnt know who Micheal Myers(The Shape) is or the true story of him
For one she thought that he died at the end of this movie. I had to argue with her to tell her that you cant kill Michael... Cause he is the Evil incarnate for a reason
The changes he made here, compared to the original score, somehow manage to be subtle and ambitious at the same time. This is incredible.
You can love him or you can hate him. Have to admit, Michael Myers has the best themes out of any horror franchise.
"You can't kill the boogeyman."
We can
Venom how?
The Shape
Tell that to john wick.
John Wick could
The Shape returns in one month, and I CANNOT WAIT. This sounds amazing, almost exactly what I had imagined it would be like.
Haha that's because it's basically the same.
Carl Weathers No, it’s because it’s John Carpenter. They tried to replicate this theme throughout the movies, but they never hit like John, and now he’s back and it’s amazing
Actually He returns in 30 days from now. When you wrote this it was 31 days
I shake with excitement when I think about this movie and how I’m gonna watch in my favorite movie theater eating a god damn bacon cheeseburger while I listen to epic synth piano themes while the shape comes back for even more kills. Yep.
It was amazing
This is PERFECT. Halloween (1978) is my all-time favourite movie. Can't wait for the update next month. JC's scores are EVERYTHING.
I'm a little in doubt between Scream and Halloween as my all time favorite movie, but I surely love both of them. Really excited about this one!
Can you answer a burning question ive had for decades? Why does Bob say to Lynda, "First I'll rip your clothes off, then you rip my clothes off, then we'll rip Lindsay's clothes off"...???
I can't choose between Halloween, The Dark Knight and Dazed and Confused XD
@@dennis8309 Bob & Lynda were obviously drunk when they arrived to the house Lmfao it was a joke. They clearly weren't gonna do anything to Lindsey being that she was with Laurie at Tommy's house
@@iamovoxo25 - A joke? Did you miss the fact she was a kid???
The way he wandered around the town with this song is perfection
This dude brought Halloween 1,2 from 1978, 81 to 2018. Genius.
The 4 new synthesizer notes at the beginning of the track and in sync with the bass drop makes me want to smash through a brick wall.....phenomenal. Huge fan of the original soundtrack for 40 years. I cannot wait!
The most iconic soundtrack with a modern touch. Incredible. The high hat and bass drum do so much for this
I thought he'd end up killing the baby when he walked over to its cot. After killing the 12 year old kid nothing was off limits for him.
Xehanort10 the baby was probably the only person I would have honestly felt bad for l I’m glad he was spared
I think with Michael whether he kills or doesn't kill somebody depends on how he's feeling at the time. He didn't feel like killing the baby so he didn't. But if he had felt like it the baby would be as dead as everyone else he killed. Some people think that he didn't kill the baby because there's still some good in him. No. There is no good in Michael. Anyone who doesn't die in his rampages is either someone he couldn't get to or someone he decided not to kill on a whim.
in this timeline (Halloween 1978, and its sequel in 2018) he didn't kill any 12 year old...
When Michael first escapes he kills a 12 year old kid and his dad just to steal the dad's car.
Linus Knight what about the kid in the car when he escapes ?
Some people appreciate the great horror of horror movies, but they don't realize that the music shapes the horror aswell. This piece is beautiful and fits the horror genre like a puzzle piece
John Carpenter should score every movie. I can't get enough of his style, it's so singular.
As far as this track goes, it's extremely exciting but I'm more excited to hear the fresh musical cues and motifs and how they integrate with the old/classic Halloween cues. He still has the talent and taste to come up with totally new melodies and rhythms that fit right in with the '78 stuff.
John and Alan halworth were both really good
Holy shit the Michael graphic is moving....
Shenkspine I thought it was just me..I see it too!
I originally thought it was a lighting trick until I left the mouse pointer on it. I suppose it is the slight movement as the shape breathes.
I thought he was smiling for a second
What is that style of movement called? I know there is a name for it but I can't think of it.
I see it too I went to the theater and saw the picture of him and it was moving!
That first sound sends shivers down my spine.
I think what I love most about this track is, it characterises the exact moment that The Shape transitions from the past to the present. The first half of it, with it's exact replica of the original theme, is like the memory of what happened back in 1978 being remembered, the distant whisper of the horrors gone, but not forgotten. Then it quiets for a few moments, as if the world itself is holding it's breath for what is to come next. And then, the ending. Symbolizing the evil behind the mask, literally stepping out from that night forty years ago, into the here and now, ready to continue again as if not a day has gone by, to finish what it started so long ago.
It just kept getting better and better. This is perfect
I swear it gets better every time I listen to it. Amazing.
Same.
Same
The use of this in the movie was amazing. The scene is extremely well done, and it just gives you the excitement of “Michael is back! Complete with the OG music!”
Holy hell this gives me the chills, michael will forever and always be the best
Goose bumps for me every time... awesome😂
it’s mind blowing how this man does what he does this brings me back to Halloween 1978 the second it plays...this definitely has a mix of Halloween 1 & 2
And h6
Lucius Janovich fuck H6 don’t even bring that mess into the equation...Pt 4 and on aren’t even Halloween movies if you ask me they’re just wannabe Jason slasher type bullshit!!
Paul Rudd is dope though!
Richie Drumz part 4 was decent
@@richie7782 4 didn't diminish the series, as much as 5 and 6 did, and stop comparing Friday the 13th to Halloween, if its "bullshit" lmfao, fanboys will always try to yell loudly, 1-4 for halloween was good.
I personally like Halloween 6 the producers cut a lot it’s one of my favorites my top five is
1. Halloween
2. Halloween 2
3. Halloween H20
4. Halloween 6
5 . Halloween 4
Halloween 5 is just disrespectful to the franchise lmao
This new theme is awesome. I love that Carpenter is bringing back the stings from the original soundtrack. Also, I'm getting major H6 vibes at 1:33
Same!
True!
@HalloweenMyersFan 2004 The original theme had some very prominent ticking as well. Probably because 1 & 5 are the ones that use more piano and less synth. It looks like Carpenter and Co. are trying to create a balance of the two.
Johnathon Newcomer yes ! I agree it’s like H1/H2 and a little of 6
HalloweenMyersFan 2004 The ticking reminds me of the beginning of H6 when Jamie first gets into the truck and realizes that he’s in the van right behind her
I love this whole last trilogy of films, along with the original. I think John Carpenter, David Gordon Green, the cast, and the rest of the crew (including Cody and Daniel) all did great jobs, and in my opinion, after the story was picked up perfectly in this film, it all came to a satisfying conclusion with Halloween Ends.
“Satisfying”
That’s my opinion. If you don’t agree, then that’s your opinion.
same here i think this new trilogy have been the best halloween movies since the original and halloween 3
@@cookscreativecorner it was not satisfactory but yea it was awesome satisfying is not because I see my fav carácter die but yea I have rank and is Halloween 1 then 2 and triology which in the triology Halloween kill is the one I like the most and 2018 and ends which is a good movie but yes is not the best Halloween movie
This sounds so good!!! Just pure music. No extensive editing, just raw emotion and storytelling.
John Carpenter is music Genius. This new rendition of "Halloween", is Hauntingly Beautiful.

I wouldn't have an SEM filter in the modular I have or know how cool Oberheims are without you, Carpenter.
deviousxen this, Stranger Things, and Thor Ragnarok show the style is coming back, and it’s wonderful.
It's great to think how talented John Carpenter is, he's both a gifted director and musician. I really couldn't see film today without him.
That ticking sound that kicks in at 1:05 is so sick!
Exactly what this movie needed. First two trailers look pretty damn good, now I know it will sound good too.
This soundtrack is amazing literally the best music I’ve ever heard in a film!! John carpenter NAILED IT!!!
I’m honestly feeling SO MANY vibes from all the sequels from this, no joke! LOVE IT!
John Carpenter is the movie soundtrack king!!!!!!!!
The first Halloween movie I ever watched was this year's. And just the musical arrangement was enough to give me the creeps...
When the bass drops 😲 I literally have never gotten a case of goosebumps that strongly. My goosebumps had goosebumps.
This is goose-bump inducing. Carpenter knocking it out of the park with this track
hey it me it litally sickening
I can definitely hear a mix of 1978 halloween and 1981 halloween 2 themes in this one...I like it
Most Badass Halloween theme ever!!!! John Carpenter is the best original horror film director & master of horror period! *"The Shape Returns"* is like 1978's retro style meets modern 2018's!
Amazin' Soundtrack!
From my all time fav horror movie.. ❤👻
Just what I needed to go with my morning coffee and hour drive. Thanks John, Cody, and Daniel.
..lol what isn't bad for out health.. and tea can knock you out for a couple hours..
If a Christine sequel or reboot comes Carpenter NEEDS to do the music again
John Carpenter is a GENIUS and MASTER. He is one of the many reasons why Halloween is legendary and iconic.

I just realized, it's been about 11 years since we heard the original Carpenter theme or a variation of it in a film, properly. If I recall correctly it's not actually in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. That makes it even better. Carpenter gets to be the one to reintroduce it.
I have no words left after hearing this theme.
Halloween, Michael Myers, Synths....
God it's almost like you WANT me to fall in love with this movie.
Carpenter is phenomenal as always.
MOVIE OF THE YEAR
Confer Unfortunately Holloywood doesn't look at horror films the same way they do drama. Horror will never get its just due.
Many people don't give horror the respect it deserves
I just watched this one, I believe they could’ve made it scarier, it kind of took it away from the movie
As the matter of a fact, #1 movie in america
Agree Halloween was best
I love that even this new track has an Easter Egg to the original Halloween II soundtrack. The little sting at 3:20 is featured at the end of that movies main title theme
2:56 god I love how quite it is.... so subtle and amazing
Old school and modern style mesh together I love it 👍👍Carpenter is the GOAT
OH OH OH OH MA GAWWWWD!! THIS IS BLOODY BRILLIANT. SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL EVERY PART OF IT. IS IT WEIRD THAT I STARTED DANCING AT ONE POINT??

Suzanne Jones LMAO 😁
@@suzannejones1035 WTF! LMAO xD
The fact that the second woman was oblivious to the fact that Michael was in her house and was right behind her as she closed her blinds after she'd just gotten the call about his escape was creepy.
@Paraone Ngatai Yeah in the original some people might have heard of a kid who'd killed his sister and been locked up for 15 years but Michael wasn't that well known. But 40 years later in 2018 his murder of Judith in 1963 and his murders of Annie, Bob and Lynda and attempted murder of Laurie traumatising her for life became public knowledge.
No one can perform the Halloween theme better than the man himself. Thank you, John Carpenter.
In theater. Digital surround. Max volume. Can't wait.
this is amazing! John Carpenter is a music genius! 🎃 never can ANYONE duplicate the wonderful music John Creates and no one can give the shape the presence through music like John...he had to be the one to create the soundtrack for this brilliant 2018 sequel to the classic #Halloween.
This all almost feels too good to be true. So happy we're all finally getting the movie and possibly the closure (after Zombies pile of crap) we deserve.
@@smithsgrove6602 yes! abaolutely! we needed a true sequel, one that matches the original or at least comes very close to...Zombie should have never tried his hand at re-imagining The Shape because it was just NOT good at all..the only good about those films was that you had Brad Dourif (the voice of Chucky the killer doll) and Danielle Harris (the woman who played Jamie Lloyd as a child from Halloween 4&5)...i am soooooo glad we're getting the sequel we deserve and of course, a sequel that omits the previous abominations including the one that Killed off Jamie Lee Curtis's character...

I love this remix of one of the creepiest pieces of music ever.
I wish Carpenter would make some new horror films. Show these new filmmakers how to make a decent horror movie. Except for a few, I like all of Carpenters films. His characters were interesting, his music great, and locations/sets were awesome. I hope he gives us a few more good films.
Well, he is the Executive Producer of this new film, and he did influence how some of the film was written/filmed (including the opening of the film transitioning from the 1978 original), as well as co-write the score; so, this is technically a new horror film from Mr. Carpenter. What I really want is for Mr. Carpenter to direct a Western, which is the film on his bucket list from decades ago. I hope Blumhouse tries to persuade him to finally do it. I wouldn't -- AT ALL -- mind Mr. Carpenter directing a Halloween Anthology movie, involving a completely different horror/terror/Gothic storyline. I wonder if that ghost story idea they had in 1982/83 ever got to the draft stage?
Thoughts on Bone Tomahawk? I'd very much like to see Russell and Carpenter team up one more time - whether it be a western (seems too obvious), a final Snake film - or - Werewolf?
After this Halloween film I want to do yes The Thing 2 official sequel to The Thing 1982
John Ramirez I’ve got a script ready for that!
Case Zambelli bro if they had went to carpenter with that script I bet he would’ve did it.. he has said numerous times he wanted to make westerns.. S Craig Zahler is a solid Director tho
Saw Halloween 2018 and it is very good indeed.. took a while to get going. Saw the original in 1978 with my father and actually brought him to the cinema 40 years later to see the new one. Jamie Lee Curtis is superb.

My opinion changed so much since 2018. This movie is a masterpiece
The best horror score in history updated, I like. Can't wait for the movie come out next month. :)
I was wondering how they were gonna make this theme fit into the movie somehow, ended up being to probably the best scene in the movie.
I like when Michael was just wondering the streets stepping into random houses, and stabbing or bludgeoning people to death. All casual and well thought out, brilliantly done.
