  • Patients come to RAYUS every day with concerns about the amount of radiation they will be exposed to from their CT scan. With our protocols and the software on each of our machines, we can assure patients they are getting the lowest dose possible. Our certified technologists make sure the radiation dose is specifically calculated based on the size of each patient. Doctor James Sullivan put it best saying:
“We don’t want to expose any of our patients to any unnecessary radiation.”

Hopefully, MRI scans and ultrasound technology will improve enough to where CT scans are no longer used, because of the radiation threat.

hi good day,i just want to know if CT scan machine is still moving its circle, does that mean there is still radiation in it? some ct technician tell that there is no radiation at all and it is safe to go inside the ct room to take our patient that underwent the procedure

I was prescribed CT of throat on a Friday and unable to speak to imaging dept. on weekend. I think I'm canceling until I know more. Why can't they do a throat ultrasound or an MRI instead? About 5 yrs ago I had a CT scan of my heart. I would have had another but refused and the Dr complained she'd have to call imaging and cancel... here she scheduled me before she even asked me!! I think it's in my chart I'm concerned about radiation and so they had me see the ENT on a Friday and have the scan on a Monday making me more uncomfortable to cancel.

I did a 320 ct renal angiogram kub with contrast when I was very young. Like 18. Can you please let me know what will be my radiation exposure. Just curious

does it matter if your hands are on the machine while it's scanning, i had one done and it seemed like it was over then the guy told me to put my hands on it and he ran it again at a really high speed for about 5 minutes while he walked around the room doing things and i felt a lot of heat but the contrast solution was over it happened earlier after the initial scan

Don't stand or be in the room if it's running if you are not supposed to be there, like Patient in a CT scan get like about 13 msv for full body scan, thats like 5 years of radiation in normal backround, but in just 5 minutes

There is no dose of radiation that is actually safe, correct?
I hear the term low-dose radiation, which makes it sound a little less harmful. But isn’t that a bit like the term clean coal? I mean it sounds good, but it is not accurate.
I know this is a diagnostic tool, but is seems dangerous.

It's very dangerous. My ct scan made me brutally sick. Sure the scan came back negative but microwaved my insides. They never tell you an mri is much safer and provide zero disclosure forms about the risks. Hundreds of xrays in a 2 minute scan is never safe and damages your cells and dna

The video doctor only says that you will not be exposed to any unnecessary radiation. What does that mean?
He does not address whether the radiation exposure is dangerous. But his answer kind of implies that.
