I've worked 3 jobs at 1 time 7 days a week and was still homeless.
My main job was working for the water department for the city and my other 2 jobs were delivery jobs (I did still have a car).
I was paying about 700 a month in child support.
The reason I chose to work the 3 jobs is so I could have money to take my kid and cousins to do stuff when I had him.
I could have afforded a small apartment and then been broke and would have not had the money to do all the fun stuff we did.
Ice skating, movies, beach, golfing, out to eat all the time. And I was often paying for myself, and 3 -4 kids.
My aunt did not have the money to take my cousins that were close to my son's age to do stuff and I knew I was going to have to move states to where my son's mom moved to because my son going back and forth from 2 states was too much.
So I wanted to make damn sure I let my son build some memories with his cousins before I moved away from them and all I had was story's to tell him about his family down in FL.
Now years later he knows them and visits once a year and they all get very excited when they see each other and I feel like my choice to choose to live out of my car/storage unit for a while showering/working out at the gym, laundry at laundry mats...exc. It was a lifestyle choice I made for a while and I don't regret that at all.
With how expensive it is to live in society these days you'd be surprised how comfortable you can be outside of it.
Get you a good tent, canopy, air mattress, water backpack to shower with and you'd be surprised how much you like it.
Not all "homeless" people are junkies but sadly most of them are so beware of befriending other homeless and showing them your camp.
They might spy on you and wait for you to leave to make a trip into town then come and take what they want from you.
That's the biggest thing to watch out for.
So if they built a free housing place for the homeless I might choose to not even go there other than to charge up my devices and fill my water canteen.

Please volunteer at least 100 hours (I've done way over 1,000 on this) so you can get an actual understanding of it. Most of them are unwilling to cooperate with what is required for them to stand on their own feet, but insist on free everything while they violate any number of laws on a daily basis (not talking about camping ordinances either). I am proud of the 10% or so I helped in my small way that found their feet again and did well, but the 90% or so of them who couldn't care less about cooperating, you need to know more about them before you start assuming "nothing is being done". It's the 90% or so that ended up being so disheartening to me, that I stopped volunteering.

Their "wants" were always there, and I helped, personally, to try on these. Most of the cases I worked with did not work out, regardless of the path we put them on, as they would not cooperate with even basic rules such as not doing drugs, not getting drunk, showing up when offered a job, obeying rules of shelters, cooperating with family, not committing crimes.
So no doubt, most people I dealt with said all kinds of things about how they wanted help to get back on their feet. My experience was about 10% of them would do a very good job of cooperating (not perfect, but if they stumbled, we were there to help them get back up).

Street homeless live very simple and modest life. It is really minimalist type of life. They do not need much, and they do not ask for much, just as simple as that. They find a camping spot which becomes their home, and they just prefer being left alone as they are. The only thing they really want is to be as close as possible to their fentanyl dealers. 99% of street homeless are fentanyl addicts, and there is really no solution for it. many will die from fentanyl overdose, or drugs related violence.

If there are rich people........who do you think the money comes from....When the rich people keep the money, they are generationally wealthy. To the people on the otherside of that..are generationally poor. Everyone neeeds to work hard to survive. But if your being born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you have no right to point the finger at someone who wasnt that lucky. While you may use your wealth to get out of a tough situation, someone else may not have that luxury and thus their life is changed for the worst while yours is just another check written. Capitalism is a great system of government. But Greed is not.

Everyone went to school. IF you did well, even Harvard or West Point was available for free. What you had to work with does NOT equal the effort made with the resources available. Bill Gates had an idea that billions of people paid him $50 to use. YOU decide how much you get and decide where it goes. SOME have few bills and sleep late, throw parties and have much more fun than the guy with 2 jobs a mortgage and light bills, insurance..... Capitalism allows YOU to choose. IF you are poor, your choice was a bad one, or "freedom", depends upon YOU.
