    • @ofmindsoul1511
      @ofmindsoul1511 Před 3 lety +3

      I am someone who walks among both wealthy and the underprivileged - unless we are talking about the 1%, I don’t think most privileged people think that hard about it. Some might just feel they don’t want to embarrass someone else for not using the “correct” word usage/grammar. But I do get why it would feel like there is a “them” and “us” because there is, and they know it too. I grew up dirt poor in a small town that had a lot of privileged people. But I was accepted early on as one of them (even though I wasn’t - I was just me). I am 36 and still learning new words and better grammar. Dumb has nothing to do with the words you know, or the way you speak. You can likely do a lot of things privileged people cannot. I promise, no one is better than you, unless you choose to see it that way.

    • @ddrnerd4280
      @ddrnerd4280 Před 3 lety +2

      I try to be civilized but i'm a damn grammar nazi. I don't try to be superior, but it's somewhat of a flaw of mine to remind people what is or isn't proper. If someone reminds me, I'll happily accept them being a d!€k about it, too. Lol

      cc cav--I agree, I live in Sacramento, and ride my bike for exercise on the miles of paved bike trails we have here. Bu in either direction there are homeless living in tents and leaving their trash everywhere--it's so prevalent it's hard to enjoy a bike ride because of the piles of garbage they leave. Rangers who are also cops, will make them move when it gets too trashy, and there are crews of workers both paid and volunteers who do nothing but pick up trash but they cannot keep up with it--it's just too much. I'm glad we have a security fence around my apt. complex or they would be on the property here stealing and otherwise creating havoc. All I know is that it;s a losing battle around here in my neighborhood...

    • @stevebilliter
      @stevebilliter Před 4 lety +1

      @EarlyMornings&LateNights How true it is. If these people would try harder and not give up, things would be a lot better for them. Things are still bad in my neighborhood--but there is one or 2 camps where I cycle by and they keep their area orderly, and trash free. If people living there did ask me for help I would be more inclined to give food or clothes because they show some self-respect and respect for the neighborhood. However, I never give out cash under any circumstances.
      Overall, this is a problem that does not seem to have any answers corporately on the whole, but individuals can do better and start with cleanliness, which I see as the first step forward.
      The Bible says that those who refuse to work, should not eat:
      2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
      There is a difference between the worthy poor, and those who refuse to even try to work, and instead they steal, do drugs alcohol, and tobacco, and live in filth. I believe the worthy poor which includes mothers with children, should be provided with the right kind of help as needed. Some single men, especially those fresh out of prison want o work but find the path extremely difficult.

It amazes me that in this society, if someone wants to just unplug and start growing their own food, they CANT because you have to buy land and follow all kinds of rules... i the last 10 years the homeless population has become so out of control you cant go anywhere without tents & trash lining streets, parks, bridges & every freeway in all directions. cost of living & housing going up every year while wages do not budge, my apartments rent in 2003 was 575$ a month now in 2021 its 1,265$ Gresham/Troutdale area, the closer you get to downtown the prices skyrocket. i've seen apartments downtown go way over 5k a month & way more. Portland has become the shit stain of the west coast

      Ha! In San Diego, studios are going for $2,000, and that's not in high-end areas either. Rents have increased by at least $300 or more in the last 3 years. Everything else is costing more, too. It's getting out of control.

    And one more thing I'd like to say what a waste of taxpayers money to put up sign saying no trespassing city ordinance. They don't enforce it at all

    A group assisted a nonprofit organization in Venice California. At times, they spent 80% of the money, on consultants, architects, and administrators. They discovered a racket, where rich people got richer. After years off this, a solution was arrive whereby 140 studio condo were going to be built right in the middle of Venice Beach for $1.4 million, APIECE! And that was on donated land! Why do homeless people get to live in the most desirable land on earth? Why not in a cheaper place. It’ll never work. They won’t stay too far from where they beg and steal and buy their drugs. No wonder the homeless population has exploded!

    Restore & staff Dammasch State Hospital round up all the homeless and put them there. Sorry but a return to forced, short to long term, drug treatment and mental illness treatment will have to happen if people want the "Homelessness Epidemic" to be curbed. It's obvious these people are not capable of or want to help themselves. Full-time employment at $16.00 hr min. wage vocational training, jobs and housing programs will help those that are just down on their luck.

    Love how blatant the reporter + State worker are about the "embarrassment" of what's going on under that bridge. Only 1 block from the courthouse/state house whateva he said. Really?! Not going to clean it up to help these people? Nope, we're just here cuz the rats are spreading to the nice part of town. Recording ppl carrying the only possessions they own while cryin with no where to go. A shame. More effort, money + people were put there to clean it up then to help the lives that had to call that their home.

    Would the situation be better if they provided lots of trash cans, porta-potties, fresh water and portable showers? Seems like it would not be difficult....
