In California, some people wanted to help by building tiny homes ($1200 each) so homeless could get in out of the weather.
The government, who were doing very little to help, said you can't do that, collected up the tiny homes and destroyed them, leaving the people out in the weather again.
Government officials care only for their own "version of the truth" and have no respect for the property of the people.

Some people are already one last charge to a maxed out credit card from homelessness but will not admit it. Looking wealthy is a huge problem for many people in the USA. You see it on a daily basis from fancy cars, designer clothes with the a big logo, golden teeth, big chains and sending little Susie to a private school. Most wealthy people are quiet and do not draw attention to themselves because they don’t want family or friends asking for money… 😂

I stay in one of these currently in Cali and it definitely gives you privacy unlike the usual shelter. I also stay at a low barrier shelter and so I don't have curfews and no phone rules either. The downside is pallets have no plugs/outlets, bathroom, ventilation(so the walls get wet and your blakets and stuff will grow toxic black mold), heat or air.
It's basically like being in a tent made of metal. Some ppl here still get their pallets robbed. I would say a pallet is good if you don't currently have a tent or for when your tent floods or you can't find a good spot. It does protect you from rain but there are many openings in the walls due to how They're made, so some ppl's pallets leak and bugs can get in.

    This is wonderful to see...
When you've been living on the street for a while, getting back into a home -- while a good thing -- can be a jarring experience, and it takes adjusting. Small steps to reacclimate/reenter the world, then you move on into something bigger...
God bless to whomever built this.

I think this is fantastic! I hope when these mini communities are built they always include a common kitchen and laundry facility as well as a full bathroom. These would be places for those that can help, to deliver blankets, warm clothing, pillows, toiletries, food, laundry supplies, offer hair cuts etc as well as a centre for them to gather, play board games, watch tv or a movie, and to receive info on available community services and potential jobs etc. A telephone that can be used by all when going on job interviews for potential employers to reach them, or to leave a message for the particular candidate. This is a "hand up" rather than a "hand out". This goes a long way in not only providing warmth, but a sense of still feeling human and cared about no matter what situation has brought them to this point. Build them in every city in the amounts that reflect the numbers of those in need, but perhaps make several smaller communities, rather than huge ones, in each city. This is truly awesome!!!! Thanks to those that provide this very much needed service...EVERYWHERE! ❤❤❤ GOD BLESS

Yet everywhere we look we can find abandoned houses, strip malls, and other buildings that would be FAR more environmentally-conscious to make available for the unhoused. The 2-acre development also has a large common area with a kitchen, bath/shower rooms, and 2 multi-purpose rooms. I moved to a colder climate in my early 20's, coming from a situation where I had been homeless for 2 months before I was given an opportunity to straighten my life up. I lived in San Diego, where it is comfortable enough to sleep outside, even on a really cold night. Just have to protect your feet, first and foremost. They get cold easily even with a light breeze at night.
I can't imagine how much scarier it would be to have to deal with subzero temps. People steal propane to try to stay warm at night in a tent, which is incredibly dangerous. Be grateful for whatever opportunity you get, and remember there is probably someone out there worse off than you are.

This doesn't include the cost of utilities or the cost to the city of taking them down in March, storing them, and putting them back up in the fall. They're cheaply built and will look like crap in a couple of years. Only in the USA do you allow people to lose everything bc of illness. You should be ashamed. You're country is so hateful to each other you'd rather pay an insurance company $500 a month for Heath insurance than $100 a month for your Medicare system for all. Your politicians have made you believe that universal health care is bad. It isn't. Your Medicare system is awesome. Why not let everyone enjoy it? Bc if sheer utter selfish ambition and greed. You hate each other. You're the only advanced country that refuses to care for it's in people and you wonder why youre in debt to China? Bc you won't pay to keep your own people healthy, you won't pay to educate your own people, and now you're #36 in the world in education. You don't invest in your in people, your country will fail. We had a make shift shelter set up, the great people living around it started complaining. The city threw them off the privately own property saying it wasn't safe for them to stay in their own tents. The owner was fine with the situation. City cleared them out, so the homeless moved into an abandon nursing home, it caught fire and 20 people died. The only homeless shelter we have now is for females only and most of them are transitioning out of prison. Otherwise, the city turns it's head and act like they don't exist.

I would imagine these domiciles do a lot better job discouraging them from grouping up and using drugs together.
Buildings are a lot harder to keep clean and they don't do as good of a job discouraging bad behavior.

@@AtlChica883The hotels would just become disgusting dirty drug dens.
These units you could literally pressure wash inside and out with a hose and clean it up for the next tenant.
There's no carpet to get disgusting and lose needles in.
No walls to destroy the drywall.
There's so many reasons this is better than turning an old hotel into a dirty drug den.
