    So grateful for this as we may be posted there in 2025. Just wondered do the send all your furniture out too? Or do you have to store that in the uk until your back?

      Amazing! I hope you get the posting. It’s something not everyone will get to experience and I tell you now it really is an experience if you stay off camp as much as you can, make friends with the Cypriots and explore the island (hidden gems too).
      You can send your furniture as much as you want to send, you have lots of forms to fill out beforehand and organise collection, packing and ship as well as your march out, don’t make the same mistake as we did and march out on the same day as belonging collection and pack because it was super stressful.
      I believe you get 11 cubic metres for free then the rest you pay maybe £150 per extra cubic metre.
      You also have the choice to store all of it or some of it back in the UK. We chose to sell most of our stuff and bring 13 cubic metres with us which is what we had left that we didn’t want to get rid of. (Mainly because most of my belongings are antiques and I didn’t want them to get damp or mouldy in storage for such a long time). It will take maybe 8-12 weeks for your things to arrive at the local
      Port in Limassol but it can take less, ours took 5 weeks so it wasn’t too bad but some people takes 14-20 weeks sometimes depending on if there’s holidays or problems along the way. I also don’t recommend wasting your money on insuring your belongings because realistically even if things get broken on the way there’s no way of proving it and it only really covers you if the ship sinks with your container on board. We didn’t insure it, nothing got broken but I’m sure I had one box missing of towels and bathroom things but I’m not 100% sure haha!

    Hey! Me and my partner are going in November but we have so much admin bits to sort out and he’s currently in the falklands until September! Did you take a car over? How did you find the shipment of items and how long it took? Sorry for all the questions loved the video ❤

      Hey! Wow it’s going to be an amazing time for you guys. So we didn’t bring a car over here, we sold it before we left to buy one out here. You can bring one over but it has to be empty so you can’t just fill it full of stuff to bring with you. We’ve ended up with a “cyprus special” car but it’s doing the job of getting from a to b and it was super cheap. If you’re not thinking about bringing a car over here then I’d recommend buying local or off camp, be careful of the bigger car shops as they tend to clock cars. But if you shop around in advance and join the groups you’ll probably get a good deal from someone on camp. The shipment of our stuff was quite straight forward to be fair, it was stressful watching them pack it all into boxes squashing it all into boxes, but we sold most of our stuff and ended up using the whole 11 cubic metres allowed plus one cubic metre in excess which only cost an extra £250 or so. We wanted to bring all of your belongings as we’re over here for 3 years and didn’t want any worries about things going mouldy in storage. Shipment took around 5 weeks to get here, which is super lucky it’s usually around 8-12 weeks so I’ve been told from other people but it didn’t take long, and none of our stuff got lost. We didn’t take out insurance as it only covers it if the ship sinks (which is highly unlikely) so if any breakages occur with using insurance then you still won’t get any money back from that so it’s pretty pointless (please don’t waste you’re money on it).
      I’ll be making a video soon on shipment and the process etc so keep a look out :)!

    Hey Jess, were you able to pack tinned foods and flours etc??

      @jgrimslife  Před rokem +1

      Hey! We didn’t take any tinned foods or any kind of foods with us in our shipment or in our luggage, I’m not sure on forbidden items bur you do get a sheet on what you can and can’t take with you in shipment. You can buy all of this out here though. Hope this helps :) x

    Apparently theres no air conditioning in the houses is that true??

    • @jgrimslife
      @jgrimslife  Před 3 měsíci

      That is correct, you can buy them over here though. Although I strongly recommend buying a portable one and bringing it with you in your shipping. There much cheaper in England, and the plugs are English plugs where as if you buy them here they’re eu plugs and you have to convert the plug which gets hot and melts the outlet 🥹 so yeah bring one with you in shipping xx

      @jgrimslife  Před 8 měsíci

      Hello, we are out here for 3 years unless my husband gets promoted then we will either move or start another 3 years over here. I honestly couldn’t tell you what regiment he’s in I don’t tend to ask much about it and I wouldn’t say it on here anyway. :) x
