I gotta say her letting her accent come through in the song is so huge for me. I grew up in a French Canadian household and the there is a lot of stigma around that French accent, especially vs a Parisian accent. I think Celine is doing a lot to dignify and affirm Canadian French.
When you get older, your ability to speak a foreign language becomes more difficult and your accent becomes more apparent and thicker. Your pronounciation is not as clear.
It is not that she is purposely letting her accent come through. It is part of the aging process. How do I know because English is my second language and it happened to me as well. When we're young, our accent is not thick and we can pronounce words clearly like a native speaker as our tongue are still quite flexible. However, as we aged, our tongue flexibility has decreased and our ability to pronounce words clearly has so decreased and our accent has become thicker.

She said how nervous are was about not doing a good job because of how important this performance was to her and how emotional she has been and how much this song now means to her since the passing of her husband. She told a reporter she was so relieved she was that she didn't cry during the performance. Even if she were to have a backing track just incase she got to upset to hit the notes, it's still her voice. Just please stop being so cruel and judgmental. She's hard enough on HERSELF!

I also don’t understand why some people complains, bashes and are so hard on her in some of her performances. She doesn’t have to prove anything! I have noticed that the bashing, hatred continues and age, body shaming. Mostly from stans. Celine is unique and I am guessing that very thing threatens other singer's fans as her vocal abilities have improved especially after her ear surgery. I have no issues if Celine is not the singer for you. Where I do have a problem though is when these same people come to bash her intentionally. Her performance at the Billboard Music Awards was honestly from another time. Compared to the other performances hers was singled out. This was my favorite to watch and I miss music like this.
It just breaks my heart to know that she's going through her grief and singing this song. I mean, one thing is to sing a love song and doing a good job but another thing is to be living it in your very own flesh
I am so shocked to see all the comments saying this is not live... She was literally hitting these notes all over the Met Ball spontaneously - no mic, no music, just busting into song. She hits higher notes in bathrooms during rehearsals. I'm sure some of her show is pre-recorded - for her health, I would hope so. But she has never lipped a special performance. She has worked way too hard to preserve her voice for y'all to just be dismissing that hard work like this. C'mon now.
People simply just too dumb to understand that these singers are not robots they are human. If they belt out songs purely live over & over again all their career she would've lost her voice by age 35 & career would've been over. Health is wealth! Doesn't mean they can't still sing.
TBH it's not always something the performer is in control of, especially if the performance is for television and specifically live. The consistency of sound that is required for a live television performance is usually best left to an entirely or mostly pre-recorded track.

Personally speaking, I have watched Celine's career for several decades, and it was by complete accident. I wandered into a record store and her album was being played, so I asked who was singing and the store rep. showed me the album cover, and with that one song I heard, I purchased the album without hesitation. I have seen her in concerts and I have seen her Vegas show several times as well, and may I just say, there wasn't a lip sync or auto-tuned song to be heard. The reason why I am convinced she is not one of them surrounding that whole lip sync debacle is because each performance I have seen of hers live, is that her voice sounded different but wonderful all the same. One great thing I praise Celine for, is that she takes great care of her God given talent by not speaking throughout the day when she has a performance. Also, she uses an oxygen mask to keep her throat moistened. She realizes that with time and age, her voice will also change, however, the same thing cannot be said about other artists who believe that their voices will never change, so they abuse their vocals to the point where they just don't sound the same and can rarely carry a tune. I firmly believe she will have even greater longevity, and if she decides to retire, we will have and enjoy a great legacy of wonderful songs by one of the greatest voices of our generation... Diamonds are far too common to be an appropriate metaphor for Celine! She is truly ONE OF A KIND! No other compares... As you said, she is a legend. Divine! I've never been to your channel before, nor seen any of your videos. The fact I'm a big Celine fan is what brought me to this one. Of course Celine is amazing, but I agree that the crowd's reaction really made this performance special. I liked your comments before the climax about how you were glad young people were appreciating this performance. Celine reminded everyone last night what good music is and that good music is timeless. There were probably people in the audience that weren't even born when this song came out, yet this movie, song, and singer have become so iconic that everyone was still singing along and in awe throughout. I also thank you for your comments about the lip syncing. I could say more, but I don't think that's necessary. But anyway, sorry this comment got kinda long, haha. She did so many variations it could not be pre-recorded otherwise she would be the best mimic singer the world has ever known. Her critics who are mostly just haters by the way as if Maria or Whitney needed some defending, they should check her studio recordings and realize that she can deliver anytime anywhere and right on the spot. The very first take she did on that song was the one that was sold worldwide, a demo, a song she didn't even want in the first place, a song Cameron didn't want either, she did it once, he heard it once and the rest became history :)
Okay let me get this out of the way I Love Celine Dion I think she has an amazing voice but this whole performance was lip sync to a pre-recorded track, the vocals leading up to the climax we're actually sung live on April 22nd 2017 vegas performance. the only difference is that there's a bit of auto-tune and the climax is the exact same pre-recorded track she has been using since 2011

You should watch the Voices That Care tribute they did for the troops back in the early 90's before Celine was even on the map, we're talking before Power Of Love. In the making of the song Voices That Care, when Celine is in the studio recording her part, maaaaan, it's POWERFUL. By the way, I agree about her voice having changed. I like it better now than 2 decades ago, to be honest. It has so much more...character? It conveys more emotion and strength, or something. Maybe she doesn't have quite the range she used to, or as buttery smooth a voice... I still like it better. No doubt.
Also...totally not lip synching. You can just watch and see the muscles and tendons in her neck contract and extend as she goes through the various scales and octaves. That kind of thing doesn't happen if you're not actually using your larynx. (At least, not in any kind of believable way...)

Of course Celine is amazing, but I agree that the crowd's reaction really made this performance special. I liked your comments before the climax about how you were glad young people were appreciating this performance. Celine reminded everyone last night what good music is and that good music is timeless. There were probably people in the audience that weren't even born when this song came out, yet this movie, song, and singer have become so iconic that everyone was still singing along and in awe throughout. I also thank you for your comments about the lip syncing. I could say more, but I don't think that's necessary. But anyway, sorry this comment got kinda long, haha. Okay let me get this out of the way I Love Celine Dion I think she has an amazing voice but this whole performance was lip sync to a pre-recorded track, the vocals leading up to the climax we're actually sung live on April 22nd 2017 vegas performance. the only difference is that there's a bit of auto-tune and the climax is the exact same pre-recorded track she has been using since 2011

In the making of the song Voices That Care, when Celine is in the studio recording her part, maaaaan, it's POWERFUL.
