    Got a feeling my gf's crankpulley is wobbling on her 09. Not looking forward to this job, I'll be honest. Going to check the pulley later at my building and see. Definitely gets a vibration around 2500rpm-3500rpm. I think the torque tube could need rebuilt also but...these harmonic balancers are junk. Thanks for the vid...

    Just went through this after I heard belts chirping, looked in the engine bay and low and behold, wobbly crank pulley. I replaced mine with the PB1117SS Powerbond pulley from HinsonSupercars. This stock one went out at 81k miles, was going to just order another until I read how crap the GM pulleys were with failing. While I had things pulled I replaced the water pump as well last week, this coming Monday or Tuesday I will be replacing the radiator with a Dewitts all aluminum radiator because after the new water pump install the driver's side plastic tank on the radiator blew and now has a big crack in it (I assume due to pressure buildup with new seal on waterpump gasket as it had a microleak prior).

    Thanks for the video! Going to add dye tomorrow to find my oil leak. I believe it is coming from the HB, but it looks like the leak is blowing back riding the the gasket seam dripping down along the way and looking like next gasket above the oil pan (the metal gasket with the oring) is leaking and eventually dripping off the back of the engine on to the passenger side exhaust pipe. Is this the symptoms any of u guys had? It is also all oily on the drivers side, but heavier on the passenger side. Was it necessary to loosen the ABS? Because I didn't see others do that in videos. Just wondering, because there are times I go, oh shit I didn't need to do that when I'm done with a project. Thanks again for the video and anyone's comments/answers.

    250 lbs foot of torque for a Corvette (240) not 190.. no balancer install footage? I have to pull my radiator and was thinking about trying this. Only jacked the front up. I think you need a pully puller to get that off. It could've been a really good video if you showed that part

      The arp bolt has a different torque. No install footage since it just slides on with bolt torque, no keyways or anything to line up. There is footage with a 3 jaw puller taking the pulley off though. The only thing that's not there is the install of the flywheel holding tool. Was too anxious to finish I forgot to record. Thanks!

    I'm doing the same thing on my C6 and I have the steering rack loose but I have not slid it out yet. I have also read to drop the carriage and pull it from the driver side. I had 2 questions. Did you have to pry the carriage down with a bar and insert a shim to keep the carriage down? Mine requires a lot of pressure with a bar to pull the carriage down. Also, did you have to bend or disconnect any of those brake lines on the drivers side to clear the steering rack coming out. I'm not sure what you did exactly with those brake lines. They are definitely in the way for me as well.

    • @OmarBuilds
      @OmarBuilds  Před 7 lety +1

      +Blake Belisle hey late reply coming through... Haha hopefully you've gotten passed this point already? If not, yes those brake lines are a B* to get out of the way. It helped to get the alternator out of the way and to remove the bolts holding the abs block down. You will need to massage those brake lines or if the way by hand. They'll bend and are pretty strong. The carriage doesn't need to be loosened but it helps. I stuck a big screw driver in between to keep the gap open. This was the hardest part of the whole r&r. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      No sir, LS engines are internally balanced. Crank, flywheel and balancer are individually balanced to a certain spec for when they are assembled are within an acceptable dynamic force for the main bearings to dampen the crank vibrations. You might be referring to older sbc w a distributor and timing marks on the balancer that need to be keyed to keep it in phase w the cam for a timing light.

    If the SS is going to last longer, I’ll get it. If not, I’ll get the N.

      The SS should last longer from a metal perspective, as in not rust, but it still has the same rubber piece that deteriorates over time. They look nicer but not necessary to get the SS one.
