  • We decided on the Comp Cams XE264HR 35-349-8. We believe it gives us the best drivability with our 1973 Ford Bronco 347 Explorer Stroker motor. We talk about the rest of the engine build and install the cam. Check out the time stamps to skip around the video. Comment below!

Great videos- appreciate the research and effort you put into it. Doing the same as you for a 71 Bronco and like your reasoning/decision making on the cam selection. Question - do you think your cam selection/research apply to a 1991 SBF 347 roller with AFR enforcer 185 heads?

I've watched all your vids on this build. I'm about to tear into a 99 Explorer 5.0 for a similar build ('89 Bronco II retro fit...), and I'm curious after watching the tear down, why you decided to go with the stroker. I realize that the cylinders were a little out of round, but overall the block looked good. Is that the reason for the stroker, or did you just want the bigger cubes?
    Thanks for the great vids...

The block was great. I had decided to stay with stock refresh when I found a Stroker kit for easy stupid money. Well, that caused a chain reaction of event that actually caused me to lose thousands. Stick with your stock build. Those blocks are great for keeping true even at 160,000 miles.

@@alpinegarage8548 Thanks, yeah I understand about the blocks and the slippery slope. The siren song of the stroker is almost too hard to resist. Then before you know it you've taken a simple rebuild and turned it into stupid money. Best of luck on this thing. I'll stay tuned.

That is a good question. I’m not sure yet and doing a lot of research. Buying next week if I can find a pair.

I went with Scott Drake Shorties. After calling every supplier, they couldn’t guarantee the fit around a 4r70w for long tubes. They went on great. I’ll have a vid out in about a week.
