- A look at how I start a fishing video, and discussion about how falling river levels can affect the carp bite. Also, various ramblings. Apparently I was feeling a bit chatty on this day. More fishing videos, carp bait recipes, fishing gear list, and other good stuff linked below. Thanks for watching.

Man I can't wait for spring! Thank you for sharing!
Watching Tom fish while I fish!
Enjoy your videos Tom!
Thanks 👍
Another adventure story from The Carp Orator! Soon we will do a subject search and Ow/T will pop up and we will know it is a reliable source! Thanks for sharing your set-up and ideas, always gives me thoughts and new things to work with, even if I modify to fit my needs and fishing conditions. This will be my second season targeting carp and you have made it fun and productive for me. If the rain lets up for a couple three days here maybe my bank spots will be doable. Thanks Tom, see you next week!!
Right on, thanks James.
Nice bait feeder dude& fishing
👍
Really enjoy your video , interesting how you set things up. It always amazes me how many people ask for legal information on the net. I tell them the same thing go look up the regulations in your state. Don't listen to us fools on the net. Thanks Tom.
Fools on the internet, fools on the bank, fools at the boat ramp, fools everywhere. 😁
Very simple way to fish. I use same technique in Morocco.
Nice 👍
I've got the same collapsible water bucket. I tie a line onto the handle and then lower it down to the bank. Thanks for the video. It's nice to see your setup.
A question about your bait catapult pouch. Are you using the same one you showed in a previous video? What are you using to hold it together?
Yep, same one. Here's the video about it. czcams.com/video/mpPauHfDZRg/video.html
I was going to mention the line (paracord) tied to the bucket too. So much safer when dealing with very slippery banks.
Interesting to see how you set up, its quite different to the way we typically do in the UK . For example your fishing what I'd call "washing line" style (rod tips up) we tend to have the rod tips pointing down, if not just in the water, trying to sink the line. Also we'd use PVA bags, your lead, bait and hooklink are all in the pva bag, set up quick change ,you cast it out,the pva melts leaving your hook bait in the pile of free offerings. We seldom pack around the feeder/lead anymore, though we do use "method feeders" which is a variation on that style of fishing, but only packed on one side of the lead, the theory being it should always land with the lead down and bait upwards.
Do you have any wildlife / predictor issues to watch out for while fishing places like the river banks? Enjoying watching the videos .👍
I wonder what the long term effect of all the tons of melted PVA will be on what is left of your countries environment. Lots of "safe" chemicals.....
Yep, I fish very differently from the modern English ways. No dangerous animal issues in this part of the country, all the wolves and bears were killed off long ago. I'm the most dangerous animal walking the river. Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks.
@@henryschmidt636 Interesting question and something I considered my self. PVA in water is global, PVA is water soluble and bio degradable, and breaks down better where there are natural microbes in the water. The bigger problem is where its used in laundry and dishwasher pods, as that waste water goes through sewerage treatment plants that are not set up to biodegrade it properly, and can then end up in ground water and drinking water. PVA is used in many products including single portion foods as the wrapper and you dissolve and consume it! As for the UK fishing waters, there are not many places left that you'd call "Free Waters" (All inland fishing in the UK requires a license, even if its a stream running though your own property) Most fishing venues are either 'Day Ticket' (pay a fee on the day to the owner) or Syndicate/Club waters (annual paid membership needed) and we have lots of rules for what you can or cant use, its in the interests of the owners to make sure the water quality is maintained. Most rules are around baits, things like dog/cat meats and biscuits are banned any thing with high fat contents as these don't breakdown and ultimately suffocate the water through loss of oxygenation, I've heard of pools where all the fish died and divers found the lake floor covered in boilies that suffocated all the oxygen producing plants in there. Carp fishing has become big business (all carp/cat fishing in the UK is for pleasure (catch n release) although I'm sure it can be bought from a fish monger, we don't catch them for the table (although some immigrants poach them for the table) A lot of baits are designed to catch the fish, but are not necessarily good for them to eat, I think this is changing now and more baits are available that have the flavours but are also highly digestible and better for the fish. To be honest, PVA is used more over winter, where you want a smaller food package as the fish certainly here are more dormant in the winter months and getting them to bite is a lot harder, once it warms up and they are more lively, we're more likely to spod/spom and catapult the free offerings around the hookbaits.
You aren't kidding when you say you have low visibility water. Even chocolate milk has better clarity.
Really enhances the mystery of catching a fish. I have no idea what I've got until it's in the net.
I’m hooked, sorry no pun intended. Several lakes I frequent have a weed problem. Do you have any suggestions regarding fishing from docks? Thanks for the effort you put into your videos.
I don't do much fishing from docks, glad you enjoy the videos, thanks.
Great video. I'm in need of a decent chair for bank fishing. Any suggestions?
This is the one I have used for several years now, it's great. www.samsclub.com/p/member-s-mark-adult-hard-arm-chair/P00129272?xid=plp_product_7
Thanx for responding. I'm getting older and I'm trying to seek a balance between comfort and trying to manage everything. Any tips would be grateful. @@OutsidewithTom
