The Tempest
By Robert W. Smith
Item: 00-BD9561
Series: Belwin Beginning Band
Format: Conductor Score & Parts
Level: 1
The dictionary tells us that a tempest is "a violent windstorm, frequently accompanied by rain, snow or hail." In the hands of Robert W. Smith, the scoring supplies all of the fury and rage within the instruments of your band. This work takes us "by the bootstraps" right into the raw power of Mother Nature.

Rip clarinets. I am a clarinet and I had to play it 2 years ago in 7th grade and we basically had the same note every time.
lily kip I still remember playing this in 7th too, I’m also a clarinet. I’m a senior now and thinking back to something like that makes me cringe honestly. Especially that repeating note lol. It was annoying
Ireland: Legend and Lore has that too, at 123 and before that. Its basically a tie with E (or something else, thats the note for 3rd clarinets)
lily kip same I hated to play that a
I am playing it right now, I am in 6th grade

Let’s not forget into the storm
He was a great composer
Oh nu that's actually really sad
One song that was underrated was red. The beginning of the tempest sounds similar. R.I.P Robert

As low brass, I gotta learn how to not get distracted while counting 4 18 times
LnetStudio 123 I prefer using audio cues. Memorize what the saxophone part sounds like and when you know it’s about to conclude, prepare to play your part.
Mohammed Santiji I did that for Alien Crossfire, where flutes had a 9-measure rest. I found out flute came in after the trumpets played C, G, G. We came in on the last G.
as a trumpet i can relate
LnetToons 123 wow its very fun doing the alto sax part
Zulrah ayye nice seeing ya here
Robert W. Smith wrote one piece and practically made the same piece over and over again like the second storm and into the storm. Even still the songs are still unique. I love this composer
Tempist is if the storm wasn't on steroids, while the second storm is that one person who is unrelated to the subject
bro this is like exactly the same as furioso
My band director knew him!! He died a few weeks ago, however :(
This is THE BEST song we played in middle school
Hands down! Some of the kids would try to force our music teacher to let us play it during every class

My aunt was part of the Troy band alongside him. My band director was also his student. All three of his will miss him.
I'm practicing this song on my own. We're not performing it. I really love this song. Defeating the giant is a song I played while I was in 6th grade, and the repeating part for flute reminds me of that song.
