    I've been using the CC version on my phone and iPad Pro.... and syncing with Lightroom Classic on my local PC. It's not 100% obvious at first but it works incredibly well. You have click your NAME or login name at the top left of the screen next to the big LR letters and choose sync with cloud... and then its in the classic version. It's pretty sweet and it keeps all the edits and stuff. Really nice.

    That intro is money!!! Love it! Also there is a hack that you can use to bring your presets over to LR Mobile... It's a bit of a pain, but once you get it down, it's quick. So pick a photo in LR on your desktop and apply your preset. (You can overlay the title of your preset with text in PS to make it easier to locate later in LR mobile if you want). But apply the preset to a photo in LR then sync it to your cloud. Next pull it up in LR mobile once it is synced. Finally, select the photo in LR Mobile you want to edit, scroll all the way to the right and you'll see the "Previous" option. Select that and BOOM! You have your preset.

    I'm brand new to Lightroom so I figured I might as well learn on the system that Adobe is committed to. No matter what they say, anything labeled "classic" is not long for this world. IMO, this editing program is so much easier to deal with and learn than the Capture NX-2 free Nikon photo editor that it is worth the price so far.

    I use Photos on Mac, currently I have a complicated process of storing this photo library in the dropbox. I have been burned twice before with backing up my photos in an external hard drive and then that hard drive dying on me. Gave me quite a few mini moments of panic and anxiety haha. I also cannot quite figure out the syncing ability of the apple photos, and yes I am quite a bit of a techie so I know my way around for the most part. The apple photo stream baffles me to this day. I have been yearning for the old iPhoto app and that was way easier for me to use. However, apple is phasing that out too as the transition to Photos has taken place. From your videos, it looks like everything I could do do previously with the iPhoto, is doable with lightroom (from a photo organization standpoint) plus the power of the cloud. This will be one step less for me, enabling me to skip my dropbox step. Am i right in my assumptions? If I need the lightroom solely for the purpose of photo organization, cloud storage and seamless syncing across my macbook, ipad pro, and iphone, would you recommend this for me? I need to lighten my macbook in terms of storage, as well as not carry another external hard drive. I want to upload it in the lightroom and delete my actual copy from my mac WITHOUT worry.

    As I said on your previous video, you can store your files locally... There is an option to do that. When you activate that option, on the Mac, the fotos are stored inside the Lightroom package on your pictures folder. They are organised by date.

    • @clearlyed
      @clearlyed  Před 6 lety

      correct but again you are storing in 2 places. Lightroom will be backing up in the cloud and a local raid HD will also be backing up. so this means like 4-6 copies of an image. really no need for that. If you are using the cloud then stick with that. but at $10 PER TB ITS WAYYYYY TO EXPENSIVE.

    • @Itzatez
      @Itzatez Před 6 lety

      Photos In Color while i agree that it's expensive, I think that your logic makes no sense. If it's a backup of course you will be storing the files multiple times... that's what a backup is. ☺️
      I have 1 local backup of my work on my network plus now with Lightroom cc I have 2 online backups. That means that I have 4 copies of my work... and that's intended.

    Lightroom CC works on certain Chromebooks as well now, provided your Chromebook can work with Google Playstore.
    However, as a Lightroom Classic user, I must say that Lightroom CC is not only a "light" version of LR Classic. It is also pretty useless for people who are used to working with Lightroom Classic.

    Is it possible to save out a full resolution photo to my camera roll on my iPad if I’ve imported it on my iMac? Or is it the lower resolution preview? It would be nice if I could do some edits on my iPad Pro and then export it out to do some additional edits such as retouching with my Apple Pencil in the Affinity Photo app. I understand it needs the previews for performance, but it would be nice if it could grab a full copy from the cloud, apply the edits and save it out when exporting. Thanks!

    Well, I am still a bit upset that a more useful and robust version was not developed for iOS. As I do more and more serious editing on my iPad Pros, leaving my MacBook at home while away on a job, a more functional version of LR for this platform would be nice. Also, why Adobe can not add a Clone/Heal tool in their mobile app is beyond me. I would have bet that they would have with this release, a bet that I would have clearly lost as they have snubbed this once again. Oh well, at least I have Affinity Photo, at least they seem to care about the mobile editor.

    • @clearlyed
      @clearlyed  Před 6 lety

      I know. this new Lightroom classic and Lightroom CC updates seems very odd and a little messed up. I have taken a strong look at CC and think it 'could' be great but it has a LOOOOONG way to go. it should never have been released. They should have stuck with Lightroom classic for longer.

    • @cameraman655
      @cameraman655 Před 6 lety

      Agreed, been an LR user from almost day 1, 90% of my workflow is within LR, followed by PS, ON1 and others. A bit more tweaking and bringing it back to pro specs would have gone a long way, imo. Like yourself and others, I do believe that this will be a building process and hopefully in the near future, the Lightroom that we all love (and loathe at times) will find it's way to the mobile world, because I truly believe that this will be the future of editing.

      I would say use both I assume you would get access to both all the time, I have the full suite so I have 3 versions of lightroom
      Classic being the better editor but the mobile / cc is good to use as well as using a mobile is easy to get stuff out to social media.
      I've been using both for around 6 plus months, lightroom classic for editing and mobile .
      Lightroom have the mobile sync collection.
      But you can use the creative program assets / files to see what is on your free cloud space.
      You can also use explorer then you have a folder called adobe or assets and that is also the Adobe cloud storage so you can just drag and drop etc.
      You get access to everything on both classic and mobile.
      You have to let everything get uploaded etc but is very handy to show photos when you aren't home or no access to the pc.

      It's good for exporting the stuff out fast to messenger for example it's a pain to do that on the pc for example it's not a straight forward flow to get the image posted.
      I've also heard that you can now share a collection to a client and when you live edit photos the edits are synced to the clients straight away.

      To use your saved presets all you need to do is open Lightroom CC select the top editing module on the right (the pop out with the edits), then at the bottom you will see 'Presets'. Click on this and a new bar will open. At the top locate the 3 little dots, click then select Open presets folder. Now all you do is drop Pic Presets into the folder and they will all work just fine. If you keep the folder structure from the download they will stay perfectly organized too. Thanks for tuning in.

      +John Newton I believe snapseed is actually owned by nik collection which was bought by google a few years ago. A few weeks ago nik collection was sold to DxO so who no who actually owns snapseed now. Thad being said yes it’s better than the new Lightroom cc.

      Exactly... thats kind of the thing, Adobe just confused us all. Lightroom Classic is just the update from Lightroom 6. Faster processing and a few extra masking features but thats it.
