I was at that mall so much in the 90s. Watched a lot of movies in the old theater. Did over night lockdowns at Aladdin’s Castle. Villa Pizza. Use to be hard to find a parking spot. Hopefully all the work going into the place is worth it and it can be a destination for the area again. Beer tree is nice. I hit that place up when I’m in town.
This was my go-to mall in the mid-to-late 90s and early 2000s, since it was easier to get to from Montrose, compared to Viewmont or Steamtown Mall in Scranton or Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre. And yes, Claire's used to be right next to Spencer's... IIRC, It went Claire's, Spencer's and then Hot Topic, all in a row.

My mom and I were at the mall/commons one week ago and it was nice to see people walking around, it didn't seem as empty as previous times. Maybe people are getting curious about the changes to the layout. I know it's hard to figure out how the interior space will turn out, but I'm starting to get excited.

Those walls and floors that you said look like 90s stuff are actually from the 70s when they opened in '75 or shortly thereafter.
There isn’t going to be a food court. It’s a warehouse store like BJ’s or Costco. T-mobile is relocating to a Kiosk until the old Kay jewelers gets remodeled for them. And that’s a wrestling ring, not a boxing ring 😊

All the original stores are gone now. Too bad they are tearing down the old Fowlers/Bon Ton store. My Aunt Mary used to work there after they closed the store in downtown Binghamton in 1981. I remember the pet Parade and Alladin's Castle across from the old Theater. I miss the old mall.
Yeah, sad to see Spencer Gifts move from its original location as it's been there since day one of the mall. At least Penny's is still there in its original location still. So sad to see all that's been there and gone now, including the theater, remember seeing Ode To Billy Joe there in '76.

I think where Kay Jewlers was is where Van Cotts Jewlers was. So no more Kay Jewlers or are they moving to another spot in the mall?
One of the jewelers that was in the mall moved to the plaza where the Bath & Body Works used to be or somewhere in that area at least. I'm not quite sure which location it moved into- all I know is that it moved out to somewhere on the Parkway nearby Walmart. I hope that helps! 😬🤞🙏☺️
