"Statistics show that parents of children with developmental disabilities are significantly more likely to experience high levels of stress, depression, and anxiety compared to parents of typically developing children. For instance, about 40% to 50% of these parents report symptoms of clinical depression (National Institute of Mental Health, n.d). In this episode, we will discuss the initial diagnosis journey for parents and families, as well as resources to support families to overcome challenges in order to become the best version of themselves."
