    I was there. It was the first AFL game we'd ever been too. We ran on to the field at the end. That's all I can remember.

    Should of been Sydney v West coast. Stupid Vfl rule meant that the semi final that the eagles were suppose to have in Perth was moved to the MCG which allowed essendon to play Sydney in the preliminary final, result was justified.

    I'd forgotten 7's tradition of missing every end of game celebration with a meaningless shot of the crowd tradition has been around so long. LOL

    Miss Robbo and Sandy in the commentary box.

      God yes. And Bruce McAvaney & Dennis Cometti calling the GFs. Jeez, the standards have slumped, haven't they? Now we have to listen to BT whose knowledge of football seems to shrink with every game he commentates.

    Hi sportyjunky I am a diehard swans supporter and this was my favourite game. Is there any way I can contact you about purchasing the full game off you or a link to the full game ? I have watched this game so many times but only the highlights but I would love to see the full

    Played their gf in this game, the swannys. Pitiful 2nd half against north.

      @kittona8754 Před rokem +1

      Yeah, most Sydney supporters didn't really care about losing the GF to North. THIS was the game!

    Its interesting that people say the games a lot faster now. Looks every bit as quick if not more quicker than today's game

    • @sportjunky4371
      @sportjunky4371  Před 9 lety +1

      Doug Deep I think they talk about players speed and the heavy run and carry aspect to today's game. Old games look fast because players hardly ever took time after they marked it, they always played on immediately, so there was constant long kicking. Nowadays players have the skills to handball incredibly fast in tight situations which could also be what people are talking about. Also fast midfielders play a bigger part nowadays given that the full forward position is practically extinct.

      Doug Deep Also the camera work has become a lot better, lol back then it made the game look faster on tv by moving really fast.

    • @dougdeep1000
      @dougdeep1000 Před 9 lety +1

      sportjunky4371 Yeah could be all of those things, plus I'm watching a highlight clip so its constant action. I like the fact they play on constantly made the 90's a forwards paradise.

      @AlonsoRules Před 8 lety

      goal kicking accuracy was about the same, if not better - you could trust a player to kick a goal from 30 out, nowadays its hard to do that

      I agree, todays game the whole of both teams follow the ball like a pre-school kids comp. Is so slow, congested, kick backwards, sideways, sooo boring at times

  • @collingwoodtoyotaaflpremie5972

    If Essendon had gone through North would of smashed them I wonder has anyone got the full match uploaded?

    26:00 Lockett marks then #47 runs over the mark. Missed 50m penalty?

    • @rick_fortune
      @rick_fortune Před 7 lety +1

      haggai samuelson only a 50 if the ump had set the mark which he hadn't. Coming from a Swans fan who wished it was too. 😁

    Essendon were cheated. Dunkley should have been suspended for eye gauging James Hird, as he had to go off the ground because of that eye injury. I remember it was covered up to say it was a punch when it was obviously not. So Dunkley should not have played in the GF. Though been a Essendon supporter even if they had made the GF, North would have still won. As Essendon had a few injuries after this game, and North had the wood over Essendon during the mid 90's anyway
