    We just added VCDS to our arsenal of equipment for servicing VW and Audi locking systems and remotes. Of course, VCDS does not read PIN codes, we have other means to do that. But our other tools did not have the ability to do diagnostics of the cars' systems in relation to the keyless remote entry for certain models. This alone is very useful for models that do not have simple on-board programming ( self-learning ).

    Luke. VCDS can program both the remotes and the immobilizer to accept the new key chip ( there is an RFID chip in the flip part of the key, has nothing to do with the RKE buttons. But you will need a 4 digit pin code. VCDS can not determine this code. Dealers can not look up the VIN for this code. A good Locksmith will have special software the PIN CODE. Align yourself with such a firm. This pin is needed for certain instrument cluster work as well as key programming

    Provided you have the correct vehicle and are following the instruction correctly, if you are having issues, then maybe the control module in the car is failing, or you have a bad remote. These instructions are correct for the applications listed. It would appear you have 2 remotes... can you learn just 1 remote at a time?

    Hi! One of my remotes suddenly stopped working. It starts the car but doesn't lock/unlock the doors. I did exactly as in the clip. When I press lock button on each remote, the car gives me the confirmation blink for each one. But after I exit controller and try the remotes only one works. The one which stopped working still doesn't lock unlock the doors. When I get back on the adaptation page it shows that only one key is programmed. No matter how many times I try the procedure in the video, it goes back to only one key. Any help would be appreciated! Best regards!

    • @RossTechVCDS
      @RossTechVCDS  Před 3 lety +2

      Short answer, replace that remote.
      Long answer (as I understand it)... each time you click the remote, it screams out data, mainly and ID value and a rolling code. The rolling code changes in a predictable manner with each button click. Each time a remote scream is picked up by you car, it syncs up whatever the current value was for the rolling code, and expect the next scream to be within +30 or what ever the next time around. Your wonky remote, when you do the relearn, the CCM stored that screamed out rolling code... but the next time you click on that remote to test it, it is screaming out some rando value rolling code, not a predictable change that the CCM is looking for... so the CCM ignores that remote.
      Bonus pointless info... take your good working remote, get well away from the car.... now press the buttons on the remote about 30-ish times (or maybe it is 50-ish times), you will bump that rolling code value beyond the range the CCM is expecting, thus that remote will be ignored until you relearn it. This use to be a bit of a thing in the early 2000s, people's first car with remote buttons and they would be stuck in a office meeting, Phil is droning on about TPS remotes and there you are clicking your remove over and over and over waiting for Phil to drop dead.... and now your remote doesn't work.

      @@RossTechVCDS thank you very much for your reply! I will change the bad remote. But I don't know how it got to scream random value instead of what it should. All I remember is that my kid dropped it on the ground and then it stopped working. But I also dropped it several times and it was fine. Cheers!

    I think I ran into an anomaly. I am able to program the remotes to the car through VCDS (gentle horn honk when programming for both remotes), but when I attempt to lock/unlock the car afterwards nothing happens. Live data of the remote fob input shows no activity. The alarm will activate/deactivate through the key in the door method. The non-VDCS method of programming the remote does not work either. Anyone ever run into this and find a solution?
