I couldn't agree more with you, but what if Ed & Ant could make a Motoring Show together now that would make sense?
@@johnpartridge7623 That might be a good show but too many cooks can spoil the meal. I like Ant because he always cleans and paints the parts he removes or fixes whereas Ed didn't. I always clean and paint any part that I work on on my classic car. They were both good at explaining what they were doing which I liked. Mike didn't seem to have a purpose except create drama that wasn't necessary.
Anybody spot the trend? The producers had a great program, moved it to the states and ruined it. Mike Brewer stayed with the format, Edd didn't. Now it's happened again, makes you think we all know the problem? Now it's coming back home, but unless the format changes, it will be dead.
I used to watch him fixing cars that can be described as junk, he made the repairs look easy, and I always admire how clean his hands are
Ant made mechanics look easy and explained things while actually working on them.
He's not a mechanic. He a presenter. What we need on here is a country file presenter. You know the ones that can't fasten there own shoe laces.

I would love to see a spin-off collaboration between Ant Anstead and Edd China the mechanic's mechanic. Between them they could sack off the boring buying and selling / making a profit stuff, and focus on car restoration in the workshop. They could even experiment branching out into other machines such as wagons, bikes, steam engines etc.
When Ed left WD I thought it would be the end of the show. But Ant Anstead proved to be a very credible replacement for Ed. Both mechanics brought something special to the programme.

The mechanical side of Wheeler Dealers fascinates me. It was interesting to watch Ed's and Ant's engineering skills and charisma. But Mike also added some interesting asides and was an integral part of the show. I think Mike has got a bit of unfair flack. Mike's contribution to the shows appeal shouldn't be overlooked.
Surely the whole show was ruined when Velocity took over and inevitably the show more talk than work like so many USA car shows .

Mike is good at selling cars it's in his blood but no one can fix a car like Edd.
I really love the work that Ed and Ant have produced, so get quite annoyed at the way Mike spoke to them. In fact, if Mike wants to continue on TV, I hope he learns the Queen's English. A trip to Oxford to listen to beautiful English should be mandatory. When you even rankle an Aussie with your poor diction, things have got to be bad. Siincerely!
Have you even visited England? If you have and you ventured anywhere beyond the stereotypical tourist spots you’ll appreciate that there’s a massive variety of accents. Mike was hosting shows before both Edd & Ant, Wheeler Dealers is his show.
He may not be everyone’s cuppa, but respect where respect is due.

@@rob3830 Is it his show? Since Edd was there at the very beginning it was just as much Edds’s. I believe Edd has been in TV as long as Mike.

It was always going to be hard for ant,trying to fill Edward shoes and that's never going to happen, I think he tried his best to carry on but it was never going to happen, ed realy was the show, Mike brewer was a person who thought it was about him and to be honest I thought he was like a baby at times and thought he was a racing driver, ed will always be known for the show because how he showed us how to fix the problems and was very good at his job , I liked ant but who wanted this job after ed went and make it work colin
Have to say I struggled to watch the early programs with Ed and Mike but after a while they grew on me so I carried on watching the program. I found Ed a great mechanic and once he left thought how are they going to replace him, enter Ant Anstead, facial expressions were slightly annoying but thats how he is, again so impressive with his car building qualities and his knowledge of engines, I found him rather good to watch and enjoyed his time on the program. Then came Elvis with his Formula 1 background, great guy good to watch but a little to staged for me. As for Mike Brewer? I think the laughs with Ant will be missed, they will be missed by me for sure, Elvis might grow on me but the one thing that will never grow on me is all this work done to these cars and guess who gets to rag the crap out of them.
His annoying over exaggerated hand gestures just got more irritating every episode.. As bad as Brewer to watch.. Edd was the show
It doesn't matter who it is. Personalities will always clash. The acting world is full of feuds. The sports world is full of feuds amongst people on the same team. Mike and Edd couldn't get along because each one wanted to run the show his way. I used to watch the show but I finally after 14 years with Dish raising prices cut the cord thus no longer able to view WD. Ta ta.

I've been looking for a mechanic like Ed China all my life- one who works for nothing! They never costed his hourly rate into the restoration.

By the way do any of the cars you do have safety belts, Maybe I need to polish my glasses, some years ago my car the safety belt was getting a bit frayed, So I rang the people who would re-web it, and asked what happens for a week while you re-web it. He replied "I have never heard of any of our customers getting into trouble", Now the trouble is, I think too much, I took the passenger safety belt out and put it in the drivers side, it worked but for some reason it would not plug into the driver side anchor, I had to plug into the other side making the metal belt plate bend off in the other direction, and what a horrible thing to use, anyway within half a hour after drooping the belt off to get re-webbed, I was stopped by the police, I just had to drive into a area, they was stopping everyone,
As for Wheeler Dealers I never seen anybody paying attention to safety belts that should need re-webbing if the safety belts get used

To be fair who gets a seatbelt rewebbed,? Just as easy and surely cheaper to purchase a used one or even new....... secondlly, i dont really think focusing on seatbelts is what people want to see as they are pretty simple to replace in most vehicles and they only serve one purpose.... i personallly have never heard of anyione having a seat belt repaired or even know of any business that repairs seatbelts, i am in the UK and believe there is no demand for this service.

Ant married an American and presumably didn’t want to continue with the show now it has returned to the Uk, preferring to stay in the US.
Any UK show like Wheeler dealers is British thogh and through The Americans never can take it on without mucking it up same as they did with the office !!!

How long will it be before Elvis leaves the building?
I assume like so many TV shows, much of the work is done off screen by "experts". One famous show had an episode filmed near to me at a garage, experts did ALL THE WORK, the hosts turning up just to be filmed with tools in their hands as though they had done all the work.l recon if it's a TV show, it's faked for the camera.
Mike's personality was what made Wheeler Dealers different, the idea of a car salesman buying a car and getting a mechanic to fix it up while explaining how you could do some of it yourself at home was genius. I didn't agree with going to the US they have loads of car shows, it was unique over here. I liked Ant but preferred Ed, I doubt they'd have trouble finding another mechanic though. I'm not surprise Ant left you could see that for him Wheeler Dealers wouldn't be enough.
Ed leaving was fatal.

@@thomascook578 Pretty boring and bland in UK, after awhile you can only detail the same car no more than twice not enough variety, as Mike said the real reason was production time as UK weather so bad it looks second rate compared to California sunshine, I love UK but it is dark.

The only thing that made WD watchable was Edd China. Mike Brewer is unwatchably coarse and abrasive. And that fake Cockney shtick is just icing upon what is a most awful cake.
Nothing against the lad, just never watched show since edd China left... Not the same.

Sometimes when Mike got back with a car and it looked good, Edward would ask "OK, what is wrong with it?"
Anstead starts with, after the car broke down at the door and they had to push it into the workshop after Mike said the car cost $2000, Anstead replied "did you get $1500 of free petrol?"

Bye the way: I used to repair electronics, Television sets was the main bread earner, A mechanic said to me once "if he could fix a car that was say 50 years old, he did not see why I could not fix a tv was say 5 years old" I thought at the time 'A 100% repaired set that is 5 years old is still a box of crap', So a fully restored car has resale value worth doing, A fully restored TV has no value, and their market value is not worth fixing tvs. In fact when I left one job I got told off by the boss, that I fixed too many TVs, I should of told customers "it was not worth fixing, and they should go to shop I worked at to buy another one"

For the love of cars has 2 seasons with the last episode having a full auction and some of the cars where are they now
The first episode of this show is my fave where they make over a Ford Escort Mark 1 'Mexico'. My parents owned one up till 1984 but had to sell it for peanuts which broke my heart as I used to dream of driving it.
Not as a racing car though just around town - just thought I would point that out.
It needed a lot of work at the time to get it through it's M.O.T and we had just moved house.
No one wants to work with Brewer the prima dona!

Ant Ansted is a “poseur” , incredibly far up himself and as a result very irritating to watch and listen to. We were spoilt by Edd China, a lovely man. Elvis Priestly is good to listen to and his strong background in motor racing adds to his appeal. Mike Brewer is a nonentity and is not essential to the show.

The show run into a perfect storm, covid greatly affected the production. Ants 2nd marriage to Christina El Moussa quickly came to a end. Mike's mother in the UK was very ill and Mike's wife had had enough of America. So back to Blighty they went. Ant stayed in the U.S because of he's son.
Cause The show ended & star went back to Europe!! 😆
