No way I could justify new electric if I wanted and could afford one at the even higher price. Also I can't do all my own servicing and repairs on one to save money either, (as I do now), so that adds even more to the cost. I have no interest in servicing debt for a car that does little mileage and buying a used EV with the high risk battery life/cost. I hear that about doubling of the grocery shop cost too! Said this many times ages ago, the big manufacturers will say all the rights things to avoid penalties and receive subsides and benefits, but behind the scenes they will keep their options open. Then when it’s obvious that EVs are a disaster they will announce that they will have to ‘reluctantly’ reduce/end EV production and revert to ice engines in order to stop the company from going bust, because they have a legal responsibility to their shareholders to protect the company.

The big problem with "performance" EVs like Porsche is that you simply can't make an easy comparison.
No EV handles, because they're all so heavy.
    They all accelerate well.
So the only way to tell the difference is range... That's not really a performance thing. Diesel trucks have amazing range.

I love ev's around town. They are smooth, quiet and nice to drive. Of course any time you want to go far they drop on their backside and thats ignoring the silly prices, lack of fire mitigation and all the rest.
What I don't understand is why ev's are considered at all? Once you have a plug-in hybrid which can do all the town stuff on electric you're good. Ev's offer little or no gain on a run and require a massive amount of resources to make - along with the infrastructure requirements.
A plug-in does everything an ev does but with 1/4 or less of the battery, usually far less weight (always far less when you take range into account), no need to rip half the country up for new cables and no huge cost looming when the battery gets past its age.
There is literally no gain to a long range ev over a plug-in.

Unfortunately they all went to compete with Tesla instead of doing their own thing. Big, heavy, complicated, expensive and frankly too fast for the public roads. Wakey Wakey.
