    Main Points of Fahad Mustafa's Interview:
    1. My audiences are people who attend Jalsas (he wanted to say my audiences are uneducated people).
    2. Dekhna Hai Dekho, Nahi Dekhna to Remote to Hai Na?
    3. Dramas are not to educate people, they are to entertain them.
    4. Even Hollywood is making crap content so I'd do the same (conveniently ignored their quality stuff).
    5. Ma to Paisa Kamaney aya hoo, Is mein kya burai hai?

You hit women in dramas....it makes the viewers even SUBCONSCIOUSLY be accepting of hitting...kher hai...its just a thapar etc...he is in a bubble. He hasn't had a loved one face domestic abuse. It starts with a slap bro. Haye if producers have this mentality then there isn't much hope.
    The slaps in jalan are "justified" and its "fine" because of her actions...so viewers see and accept that look she is doing bad so it's "right" she gets slapped. So yes you are influencing people. So if a girl raises her voice in the home...slap her why not its fine. Dont even get me started on how Afsand doesn't get any abuse his way even once. Not even one slap. So a woman does bad slap her etc. Man does it...aww he will repent and move on. Wow the justice here. Bravo.

  • @firdousali3332
    @firdousali3332 Před 3 lety +27

    I agreed and disagreed with a lot of stuff Fahad said. But some stuff he said was pretty wrong.
    Like at 16:40 he says Mirzapur, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Sacred Games are the same thing. So, Mirzapur, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Sacred Games are the same genre and have a similar dark tone to the show. Just because they are the same genre doesn’t mean they are the same. In that context then every romantic drama, with a girl and guy in it are the same, but they are not. That’s like saying Pyar ke Sadkay, Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai are the same thing. The difference lies in the way the story is told, the tone of the drama, the execution, and the characters.
    And nobody is saying that every film and drama has to have an overt message. It gets boring when every film or drama has a message. At 16:54 he says that Indian films don’t give any message. So, for some information:
    Akshay Kumar did Khatta Meetha, which was about corruption. He also did Pad Man.
    Salman Khan did Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, which was about humanity. The message was to help people no matter their nationality or religion
    Shahrukh Khan did Chak De India, Dear Zindagi, and Fan (which showed the problem with being obsessed with actors)
    I cannot give a description for all these films, but they have a message. And there are many more, like Zindagi Na Milega Dobara. Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan gave a message to live life to the fullest and not get so stressed about the small things that don’t matter. So did Dil Chahta Hai. 3 Idiots gave a good message to not force or put so much pressure on your children to pick a career. It talked about the problems university students face in India. Namastey London gave a good message on parent-child relationships.
    To say that these actors have never given a message is wrong. If you really think about it, every film has some good message. And again, nobody is saying that every film and drama has to have an in-your-face message.
    The problem with Nand and Jalan type dramas is not that they don’t have a good message, it is the execution and the exact same storyline (with nothing new). 10 years ago we made these types of drama (exact storyline and characters) and today we have the same drama. With this constantly happening, after 10 years, we will have the same type of dramas (with nothing new). And then producers and channels complain that why is Netflix not putting their content on their platforms. What new thing (extraordinary thing) is Pakistan making/offering (that India hasn’t already made)? Why should Netflix put your (Pakistani) content? is the question producers/channels need to ask themselves. The only recent project I can think of, which seems cool and different, is Zindagi Tamasha and that film was banned before it even came out. If this keeps on happening then Pakistani content will never get a significant amount of international viewership, and if it magically does, then people are going to make fun of it, because of dramas like Nand.
    I think the point is that influential people, like producers, should try to broaden the dramas outside of the saas-bahu type of setting. Nobody is saying that put gaalis or adult scenes in the drama (those are not necessary). If you take the adult scenes and profanity out of the film, Andudhun, it is still going to be a good film. So, the point isn’t to copy the west or India (or to put profanity), its just to make better content. Dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Digest Writer, and Sabaat were made too. Why can’t we just go back to that content. Those dramas were both entertaining and good.

    • @firdousali3332
      @firdousali3332 Před 3 lety +3

      Yes I replied to my own comment, because it was too long.
      Honestly Pakistani dramas are at a point where, I don’t even watch them anymore because some of them are not available on CZcams, or they are too long and stretched out, and some of them are just plain dumb. Cheekh was basically the drama that made me loose trust in Pakistani dramas because it started out interesting and became so stretched out and illogical and I wasted my time watching that show, hoping it would be better. And I am honestly not looking forward to Dunk, because I think it will be the same as Cheekh (it will start out interesting but then become illogical and stretched), but who knows. Even the seemingly good dramas are so stretched out (because of channels demands) that I would way rather watch a 10 episode show on Netflix, that keeps me hooked and entertained. And I think a good amount of the Pakistani youth agrees with me, and this is the problem with Pakistani dramas nowadays, even many Pakistanis (who have other resources, like Netflix) don’t want to watch the dramas being made.
      At the end of the day, it is Fahad Mustafa’s choice what he wants to produce or not produce. And I agree that he has also produced good dramas. At this point, I am confused why the audience is even watching these type of dramas (because this is the argument that every interviewee makes on this channel)?
      Btw I agree with what he said at 21:43.

    • @laibausman5436
      @laibausman5436 Před 3 lety +1

      Trust me I read your comment and your reply to your comment.
      I completely agree with what your saying.
      The whole argument always comes back to the TRP's and views these dramas receive.
      It is always said that the TRP's and views matter. And they definitely do.
      But that doesn't justify the fact that the same story is going to be show again and again in slightly different ways.
      Risks should be taken.
      They always say that people want to watch these type of things.
      The people that they talk about have no choice but to watch what is on their screen to pass time.
      All I want to say is that if they do take the risk of trying something new and it doesn't work, then they can complain that people don't want to watch that stuff.
      They can't just say that as a justification because the audience has not been given something different to make the choice of what they want to watch.

See, you guys have different content from Bollywood and Hollywood and people in Pakistan cannot at all digest that their Producers is showing some erotic or intimate scenes on Television. Being An Indian I know that we Indians even hate to see such 18+ content or abusive language on TV and FILMS that is why they show it on OTT platforms. What is Fahad education level? Tv, film, music can only entertain when the message, the story, poetry makes sense, it is rooted in realities of your environment! Charlie chaplain silent films entertain, yet had profound messages of the time he lived in! TV is a median should be educating Pakistani about world views! There should be shows about cultures in different areas of Pakistan! Dramas are stuck, the stories are the same, so, Fahad had not worry, he will not get credit for educating Pakistani, entertaining is subjective !
