you look better bald
Can't wait until the 24th Century where baldness is not a disease. (Captain Pickard.)😁
Biographics would you ever consider doing one of George Armstrong Custer?
@@Cpt.LEEBOY
that would be a great idea. Custer was more than the FUBAR on the Greasygrass or in other words Custer's last stand.
Thank you for this sponsor! It is exactly what I needed for my hand and I will use the promo code to help biographics, my favorite channel! Simon and your team are amazing!
"Come on Zeus, give me six!"
-Pope John XII
Oversimplified viewers
I love you-
Oversimplified!
(gasp)
“While researching this guy I came across this wiki: List of Sexually Active Popes.”
Ahh yes, a man of culture I see...
Yeah, celibacy among monks is a more recent phenomenon than people realize.
Although many in The Church think it’s to their detriment when you look at the obvious stereotype about Catholic Priests.
@@NathanCassidy721 "celibacy among monks is a more recent phenomenon than people realize"? Who told you that?
@@AveChristusRex History mostly.
Granted I’m playing a bit loose with the term “recent” as saying fertilizer can be a “recent development” when put in the context of the whole of human history.
@@NathanCassidy721 Yes but how recent do you mean. The Fathers talk about virginity and chastity among monks and presbyters from the earliest stages of the history of the Church, including St. Paul.
I prefer the ‘tossed out a window’ ending, if only because defenestration is such an awesome word 😆
I liked the picture that came with it.
The fact that there were two defenestrations of Prague is one I love.
The first time I heard that story was from Oversimplified 🤣🤣🤣
"Honestly, it was Self-Defenestration."
(that's how it's done today)
Need to do that to putin
Jesus: "Golden Rule..."
Pope: "Whatever..."
That would be a wild conversation for the Pope to explain
I don't know if he's the worse, but Rodrigue Borga could give him a run.
The Borgias were wild but he sounds a bit wilder
at least he got stuff done
Not really. It's mostly myth and slander
Rodrigo Borgia was pretty tame, it's his son that was really evil.
Also urban the ll
Teacher: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Me: Papal Goon.
to be fair, Simon looks great without hair, it would feel weird seeing him with it
Lots of hair, just not on his head.
Scroll back to the original TIFO videos. He had no beard and it looks super strange
Bald works really well for some people but not for others.
I picture him having long flowing wavy hair as a youngster
Yum Brenner succeeded as a bald man, he was considered a heart throb. Bald can be an advantage.
Simon, your videos never cease to amaze me. They’re oftentimes filled with such rare unheard information, that it encourages me to do research of my own. Thank you for making learning so fun
Couldn’t agree more Sir!!
Hit the nail on the head friend, Simon has helped me learn more than i did in all of High school.
And everyone behind the screen, esp the writers! And Jen!
Well don't forget the editors and the writers
@@sharonb3939 wasn’t aware he had any, but I most definitely credit them as well

Simon I just want you to know that the captions refer to "male pattern baldness" as "male pattern boners." I just want you to be aware of this. My face hurts from laughing so much.
Bwahaha😂
I had to screenshot it just to make sure I saw it right!!
My stomach hurts from laughing-
Wow real mature guys
2/3 men are suffering male pattern boners and you're laughing
LOL, I thought I was seeing what I wanted to not see. LOL
I love how you referred to him as "Not just some medieval chad".
"The Worst Pope In History".... whew, that's some tough competition there, buddy. Like winning "Most Psychotic Roman Ruler".
How does one not look to the Heavens and wonder what the “Almighty” is doing; letting all this fuckery be done in “His” name?
Oh of course there will be slick answers, just as there are to all of the other gaping holes in the Biblical narrative. But still, God struck Lot’s wife down and let these arseholes muck about.
I thought same thing. God knows he had huge competition for this infamous title.
VOX POPULI 🤡 - VOX DEI 😇 Voice of the people is the voice of god ! 🤣
Meh, there's only a few psychotic Roman rulers. Not a great comparison.
@@blakerackley8874 no there's many,
You should do one about John “Jack” Reed. An American journalist, author, and communist activist who witnessed the Russian Revolution and is one of the 3 Americans to be buried at the Kremlin Wall Necropolis.
Kaiserreich vibes
I'm glad he's over there, better dead than red
@@jr2904 what happened to freedom of speech?
@@jr2904 lol
Fudge that guy! I want to see Papa Doc!!!
Biographics, and coffee helps me get through my morning. Could you guys do Rodrigo Borgia also please?
I second this
Right here with ya, a vid on him would be great
“Fit as a fiddle while frantically fornicating with his friends”…try saying that five times fast😂😂😂
That. That, that, that, that.
I just did... Not much of a tongue twister at all
Man, this pope looks like a Sam O'Nella character.
Pretty sure there’s a Sam O’Nella about this Pope already. It’s pretty good.
@@mbgal7758 I know but the joke is that Sam himself didn't draw a character for that pope: siad he looked already like one of his characters and just pasted the portrait.
@@JoKad17 lol I forgot about that. I haven’t seen it in so long.
The fact that you used a clip of Ghost's music video "Dance Macabre" when describing the Pope's Satanic ties is brilliant and I appreciate it 😂
Simon Whistler is a Ghoul confirmed.....
I just discovered Ghost’s music and I’m
in heaven. They’re pretty amazing. I’ve seen their logo, known of them, but haven’t heard their music until recently. I’ve been missing out!!
I never knew that Pope John XII was that mean. Now I can’t decide who was worse, Pope John XII or Pope Alexander VI. I suggest that you do a video about Pope Alexander VI.
I think he has done one with the Borgia Pope.
Don’t forget pope innocent the third who killed a ton of people as an example to his enemies among other things
I’d like to see a video about Benedict XVI, the only pope to resign his office and a former member of the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth).
Our boy Benedict XVI, known as Joseph Ratzinger those days, was six when Adolf Hitler became Chancellor in 1933. While the Roman Catholic Church’s official stance is that little Joesph Ratzinger was not a member of the organization on the basis that he was too young, enrollment became mandatory for Germans of “Aryan descent” age six and above in 1936 (Ratzinger was nine in 1936).
“Worst pope in history”
Leo X has entered the chat.
All the while Benedict IX and Paul IV are laughing in the background at these amateurs
Been waiting for this one. History profiles did a great video on this guy.
12:38 Huh, they used a clip from one of Ghost's music videos. I guess its appropriate for John the XII.
Hey Simon your videos have always been interesting and fascinating to me. Can you do more videos of composers like Beethoven, Bach, Mozart ext. I'm a violin teacher for children and the kids I teach would love to know more about composers and since you can learn everything so conveniently on CZcams might as well ask you. Thanks.
Would you mind doing Governor George Wallace? I think he would be a great study seeing his ideals going from moderate to segregationist back to moderate would be very interesting.
He should do Theodore Bilbo
I would like to thank the person who chose the visuals on this video. You included some amazing things. As a potter/clay artist, I had to pause @07:53 I had to take it in, analyze, learn, understand. I thought about the person that made that. I thought about how they went about tackling all the tasks I know they had to do, to be able to make that. Procuring materials to make other materials. Stopping to get lunch. Finding somewhere/thing to eat. Its all the same stuff I do. In a thousand years will some potter be looking at my work, picking up details on my hands and eyes. Thinking about what my life was like? Yep, good graphics.
Papal history is so fascinating to me
Yes, it really shows the same ups and downs one sees in feudal and imperial dynasties, with a lot of Italian politics.
Been waiting for this from Simon, history profiles also did a great video on him.
Your video help me keep mentally sharp thank you Simon I love all your channels
Fantastic video as always. Thank you for the content.
By the way, would you ever consider doing a video on one of the old chess greats? Like Bobby Fischer or even older like Morphy.
Or the most important of all players and an interesting guy that is philador
@@RossM3838 Yeah I mean I love chess so any of the important players would be great 😁
Do one about the Cadaver Synod, the trial of a dead pope with his body on the stage.
He already did check out the Into the Darkness channel to see it
Between that and the Persian ruler who had the ocean whipped for its insolence, I'm just not sure which is more ridiculous.
Worst pope? There were a LOT of bad popes. Do a top
Ten!
As a child that was raised Catholic, that was my first thought too xD . Like, _worst_ Pope? I'm struggling to think of more than three that were decent lol.
Yeah, thought Borgia was the worst.
I am extremely sure he already did a top ten worst popes years ago
The fact that you can even do a top ten is troubling
@@themindset4164 Agreed. I think a Top 20 would be more appropriate, if not more.
Great work!!
Love the channels keep it up
Thanks for this interesting video.
I was homeschooled in an evangelical cult and only learned whitewashed, approved history.
I’ve been taking the time to educate myself now that I’m out, and I really enjoy listening to your channels. Your content is a highly digestible supplement to the courses I’m listening to. Thank you for that.
I am sorry you were in a crazy cult. That's awful! I hope things are better for you these days.
I had a lot of my early upbringing in a similar cult...the Roman Catholic Church, and their history is probably just as much a whitewash.
The Bible is the only way.. stay away from cults like Catholicism, Mormonism, Islam and Buddhism
@@skivijimmy - Christian theology seems, to me, to be the same… a death cult. Even the head god (aka “God the Father”) is shown throughout scripture to be the pagan god Yahweh (who was part of a pantheon). Christians don’t know the history and cultural context of the strange things they believe.
Why? Because they never dare to look outside of their own literature.
If you dare to do the research (outside of Christian propaganda), you may be surprised at what you find.
@@atheistmom3591 interesting stuff. Tbf in places where Christianity dominates, it’s hard to know where to look. What source would you recommend would be a good start if we want to learn more about the history of Christianity from a non-Christian perspective?
Fantastic video keep it up your doing amazing job
Benedict IX has a pretty good claim to being the worst Pope as well.
Was that the Hitler jugend one?
Benedict IX could be the three worst popes.
@@josvercaemer264 no
@@josvercaemer264 Pius XII.
Oooh, I love Pope biographies! Do a video on Benedict IX next 😁
I love how you included a clip of one of ghosts music videos sitting actually though
Interesting, informative and entertaining 👍 team
I enjoyed your videos I always learn something new on every video no matter who you talk about.
I remember that face from the Sam O’Nella video. I got excited seeing his face lol
Good video 👍
I appreciate the use of clips from the Ghost music video Dance Macabre.
I did not expect to see a part of the video from "Dance Macabre" on this channel! A pleasant surprise
"Copulating with the stamina of the duracell bunny in heat," is a quote worthy of Shakespeare
Could we possibly get some biographics on less known figures during maybe prohibition for example or the Italian wars for example or even in India or something thanks for keeping me informed on historical and well known figures and facts Simon
I second the suggestion of lesser known people involved in prohibition. There were some really colorful characters involved on both sides of the issue.
I'm going to throw Carrie Nation out there as a candidate. She was an...interesting...woman lol. 😅
The Frasier Historical Arms Museum (in Louisville KY) had an exhibition about prohibition and it featured her.
My mom was commissioned to make the dress and hat for her mannequin, so I heard a LOT about her exploits.
Simon I love your butchering of names it’s truly priceless
Aren’t all popes fallible and completely imperfect I mean really this is just one pope you’re talking about you should check out some of the others oh my word the stuff that they got up to
Papal infallibility is very precise - it doesn't mean they are perfect, and nothing they say is wrong.
Papal Infallibility refers to when a Pope uses a precise formula when speaking on Faith and Morals, which is universally binding on all Catholics and those in Communion with the Catholic Church. It's only been ever used a few times.
@@contrapunctusrex2499 There are some Catholics who firmly believe in total Papal Infallibility, as has the RCC at various times. The modern church, particularly post Vatican II, definitely supports your view, but, as with any organisation with a large number of followers, there are extremist outliers in the RCC, and Total Infallibility isn't even one of the more edtreme beliefs.
I loved the excerpts from the band Ghost's 'Dance Macabre'!! Wonderful!! 😊❤️❤️❤️
John XII looked really SUS 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sire sir egg head Simon! Thanks I was just starting the mundane part of my job , it's nice to hear about someone to ease the task
Do a video on Eamon DeValera (1882-1975) please
I had my closed captions on for the intro and all I can say is WOW.
Wow, the closed-captions at the beginning of this video are savage.
Love use of Ghost music videos
Man if they thought appointing a 10 year old as a bishop was bad, someone should've told them what the church would do to 10 year olds later on.
*Already doing
@@hozonkai9967 Not necessarily. Celibacy in the Catholic Church only became a mandated ting starting in the 12th century IIRC.
@@anttibjorklund1869 10 was a marriagable age for girls back then. So yeah, it's always been going on
@@hozonkai9967 Yes, in that way it's been going on. But you're kinda judging them by today's standards. As you said, at the time it was legal. However, what I was saying is that priests were required celibacy only from the 12th century and thus it could be argued that only then it became a "no-no" irrespective of the legal age.
To be fair people didn’t live to be too old then. Being 10 might’ve been close to middle aged to some
I love these Biographics videos. Keep up the good work.
BTW....my name is Marozia.
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but the footage used when listing off John's charges were all from music videos from a band called "Ghost"
I was wondering who else noticed. Love them and enjoying the reign of Papa Emeritus IV.
Papa Emeritus IV!!
Didn't expect to see part of a video from Ghost in a Biographics video...
12:54 is that the band Ghost? If so that's amazing!
Never thought I would see Ghost in a Bilgraphics video!
You mentioned the Borgias. I hope they’re coming up soon.
Simon, whenever you have "worse" in the title, I have to click on the video and verify for myself.
i was not prepared for the Ghost clips

Can you do a video on Otto I? One of the few Holy Roman Emperors who deserved the title
Ahh yes, the Pope that toasted to the devil and turned the Sistine Chapel into an XXX hotel
I hope he's 'enjoying' his eternal stay in hell
Not the Sistine Chapel, the Lateran Palace.
Another fantastic video Simon, thank you! I just love this channel ❤️

Hi simon could you do an episode on Thomas glover the Scottish samurai
take a shot every time simon makes a new youtube channel
Here in the USA, it's the Energizer Bunny, but still funny as hell and another great episode
You changed your shirt after the commercial!
I've heard Simon mispronounce a LOT of things, but never thought Marquis would be one of those words.... Interesting
I've long been convinced he does it on purpose. Partly to stimulate engagement from people correcting him, and partly for the lulz.
Simon is not mispronouncing anything, as he's not using the etymologically French "marquis" but "marquess", which is a valid equivalent/synonym.
Ah, Simon adds another channel to the Simonverse.
Are any more of these gonna be added to the podcast?

We need more contemporary coverage of Otto I, he had such an interesting reign but because he wasn’t English or French we don’t hear a lot about him. In general the Holy Roman Empire needs more attention.
