    I grew up with android and my friends were hardcore apple users, They would always talk about how good jailbreaking was but there would always be that one kid who bricked his moms phone and got shouted at. Meanwhile I was just sitting there with my Samsung s5 and I was wondering why all the things I was doing on my phone that didn't require a root seemed so special to them.

    5 years ago rooting was a must (or if you have a 5 yr old phone)...these days rooting is mostly for customization....
    ...developers, especially Android, are giving us a lot more control over turning apps on and off, clearing cache, etc.....overclocking is "overrated" (no pun intended)...quad core snapdragon 805 cpu's are plenty sufficient and there are tons of apps that bypass the few restrictions that remain today.

    Great video...but if i had say that you needed any improvement...id have to say...details
    such as, when you 2:31...you mention that it increases the battery life...but it could be extremely helpful if you could mention how much different it is from non rooted (e.g. "non rooted 14 hours....rooted 20 hours) besides from that GREAT video :)

    You don't have to root to change your keyboard on android. Also their are apps that let you change your notification bar without root access

    You dont have to root your phone to sideload apps. All you have to do is tick the allow software from unknown sources.

    HI, thanks for this interesting video! Question, got an LGMS 323 with only 2 Gig of Mem and I bought a memory card (4 Gig). Internal memory left is 211MB and needless to say it is slow and updates are impossible. I am told to upgrade but since I found your vid do you think rooting (which I know nothing of) would be worthwhile in helping the phone function better? Or should I just toss and get new one.? Thank you !

    Rooting also lets you install emulators right? and other apps manually right?

    i just want to point out, that using setcpu/nofrills to make your device run full speed is not "overclocking". Overclocking is pushing the cpu PAST its limits.

    In the interest of full disclosure, how about a list of top ten reasons why you should NOT root a phone? I’ve been around computer devices long enough to know there must be at least some negatives to this. I’d really like to know what those are instead of just proceeding blindly.

    I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S Duos and even though it's a very old model, it works very well because I rooted it and I used to download apps all the time. I have more or less than 10 games and some other apps but it doesn't slow down. And one day my mom got this promo stuff and she said I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 (yeah yeah, it's still an old model but I'm still happy 'bout it) I thought it would be faster than my old phone then turns out I can only download like, 5 apps. Lol. So I hope it will work like my old phone (or better) when I root it.

    i have looked at some comment and nothing so far about the risk of bricking your phone, in iphone jailbreaking there is a dfu mode which you can restore anytime. but android doesnt have that. the only way i know you could un-brick is take it to a electrician to hook up to a advanced device for about 50 dollar fee to restore. thought?

  • @JohnOscar93
    @JohnOscar93 Před 10 lety

    One bad thing about rooting- it voids any warranty you have on the phone, so if you brick it during the process, you're out 100's of dollars.
