Remember kids, don't smoke and don't drink. A great actor did both and died prematurely, barely 80-90 pounds and suffering from cancer in his esophagus.
remember kids, tobacco was never that bad for humans until large greedy corporations managed to allowed polonium-210 into the fertilizer which is what really causes the cancer and that alcohol in moderation is both fun and healthy.
They can if Renault is trying to stay under the radar and thus doesn't dare steal enough to get himself unwanted attention, so he can't skim off as much as the big boys.
William Claude Rains, known professionally as Claude Rains, a wonderful and highly underrated British-born actor. I'd urge you to do some research about his as he was such an interesting man.

The ending ironically proved that Captain Louis was himself a sentimentalist by allowing Victor and Ilsa to escape
"Make it ten; I'm only a poor, 'corrupt officia!l"..........Claude Rains and H. Bogart, two WW1 Veterans!!!
Make it 10, I'm only a poor corrupt official.
These two, are sooo good together, on screen
Casablanca is a course in how to advance a ton of plot with an ounce of dialogue
Most of today's movies need to be expunged, especially anything with Mark Wal berg in it.
"Gestapo spank". Too funny!
I love what they did to Claude Rains in this Film! He’s looking very dapper in his Captain’s Uniform! And, I love his haircut!
I agree with you
What a great script.
It was better when politicians didn't try so hard to hide their corruption and still kept the neighborhoods safe and the snow plowed.

My favorite scene in a movie that I can't stand. Troll away, people.
Naw....because I suspect that underneath that cynical exterior you are at heart a sentimentalist....
Your loss.
