That is exactly how my instructor taught us to fly, hands off on approach, on speed and on slope all trimmed out! I like the way you have the paper back up too, I have had issues with screens going blank before and like to have the paper there too! Nice calm cockpit environment and no music, perfect 👍
Thanks for sharing Mike, very professional. Love the TBM, I am a big fan of Stevo and 851TB but I'm happy to have found another TBM pilot to follow now. Keep up the videos
Professional callouts! Loved the "Minimum, Landing" callout (SOP even when alone; great!). Thanks for sharing this video with us. I'm familiar with the TBM's capabilities, but 68 kts stall speed is impressive! Very good video and talk through!
I have never flown one on my own, I want to learn. And you done a great job showing me how easy you make it look , I look forward to more of your videos !!!
Thanks for the great video! I'm an old retired Pilot whose lost his medical. I've been playing with MS Flight Simulator 2020 and flying the TBM 930. Got a lot of advice on air speeds and procedures watching your videos. Thanks!
Love the vids Mike, TBMs are my favorite airplane. Can you show a more detailed and closeup process for your startup from cold and dark to engine start? That's my favorite part of the whole flight and I'd like to see more detail on the PFD/MFD and switches/throttle process. can't wait for the next one!
I look forward to watching your other videos. I just negotiated to buy an 850. I haven’t been this excited since I was seven and got a BB gun for Christmas!
i just got flight sim 2020 and its not the TBM910 but its the TBM930 and not much has changed from the instrument pannel it uses the g3000 vrs the one your useing but i love the TBM line in general never flown on in real life but a lot in sims
Very much. I use the DC One-X. It just fits me best and is most comfortable for long flights. I use the BOSE for my passengers. The DC is a bit more fragile than the BOSE and the boom a little shorter. Both are great headsets.
Fpilot87 from a safety perspective it is best to climb the TBM on FLC mode (lock in the airspeed near Vy which is best speed for best rate of climb). On the TBM that is about 120knots. I like to climb on FLC and descend on VS or VNAV. Hope this helps!
Well i got to fly this beauty in MFS2020( i pretty sure that all it will be a sim in my lifetime) and i fell in love. This is a plane with class. So in my next life, i want to born as a child of a millionaire so i can start better, and fly a plane like this :-))))
Most controllers will manage a couple of frequencies. When they speak all frequencies will here the controller but we can only hear the reply from other aircraft that are on our same frequency.
Awesome videos. Love the TBM 900 series. If I get my business off the ground so to speak I'm gunna target any of the 900 series.... I have a question regarding costs... I'm pricing a few options including the 700 and 850 but can you please provide me your typical hourly DOC and your fixed annual costs. Online information is inconsistent... I would appreciate your help. Thank you.
Fixed cost are about $100k per year and variable approx. $350 per hour. FC= insurance, training, hanger, data services, maintenance, etc. VC= fuel plus other consumables. Assuming 180 hours per year flown...total cost is about $900 per flight hour. These cost are while aircraft is under TBM warranty and does not include depreciation or any payments on aircraft. Good luck with your business and hope this info helps!
@@tbm910guy8 Thanks for the information. Can I bother you with one more querie... Are you including engine and prop overhaul allowances in your direct operating cost estimate of 350 per hour... I seen online DOC estimates over $500 per hour.up to 700+.. I guess these are all based on different hours flown per year obviously is your fuel burn based on 75% Cruise is that about 45 gallons an hour ish.. Thanks for your help.
@@jamesunger8433 The hours for engine overhaul are 3500 for a TBM 910. I will not get to that during my tenure owning the aircraft. So no, have not included it in what I sent you. Also, for fuel I assume normal speed (not max or economy) at about 60g per hour. Why own a TBM if you fly slow. New Avex has some additional detail on line regarding ownership costs (link below). Hope that helps! www.newavex.com/tbm-learning-center/operating-costs/
@@tbm910guy8 Thanks for the additional information. True about keeping it above 300... unless you want five hours watching the earth slide by at FL 280 LOL....Safe flying...hope to be up there in a TBM eventually....
The TBM has a PT6 turbine engine with the intake at the rear, and exhaust at the front. There is a duct that starts in the front, runs below the engine and exits at the rear of the engine compartment. In that duct is an 'inertial separator' that changes the flow of the air. On the ground it is closed to prevent FOD from entering the engine intake, in flight it is opened providing cooler ram air to increase the engine performance, or power, and efficiency. I'm not very good at explaining things but I hope that helped. --gary
It's a group of metal flaps that changes the airflow from the intake scoop to the engine intake screen. When you anticipate flying in frozen water droplets or when you could ingest foreign objects while taxiing, you extend the separator. It creates a venturi in the air intake which accelerates everything. The air gets sucked around the corner into the engine screen while heavier particles can't make the turn and they hit a plate and go out through an opening at the back of the inlet scoop and are ejected overboard.
the long beep is a setting i have for when I climb or descend and am 1000ft from my target altitude. Helpful to prepare for a level off. In a Cirrus I set it at 200ft from target altitude. But in a TBM because things are quicker 1000ft is standard setting.

The TBM series is awesome. Watching these videos to assist with flying FS2020. It's incredibly helpful. Even for a SIM guy...
Same! First plane I wanted to fly in MSFS was the TBM, and I fly simulated flights out of ABIA a lot!
First i didnt know it was real life thumbnail looked like msf2020 graphics

thanks for the day in the air. glad to see your safe and doing well!
Thanks Mike, great flight and tour of the cockpit, definitely cheered me up while we're in lockdown and not able to fly here in the UK. Keep safe!

Flight Simulator is the best. TBM is my aircraft of choice too. Just flew this route but from KSAT to KAUS.

KLVK....I instructed out there in 2014 while i did my initial flight training around San Antonio and Austin. Super small world...
Nice work in the office!

thanks for sharing, Mike..new subscriber, and just love these planes...(also watch steveo and Jason..)
Alright this is awesome
Great video. Thank you.
(If possible next flight to make the start up procedure). 👍👍
very cool! I'm flying up in DFW, nothing as cool as that TBM tho!
Sweet Plane.
KRND is Randolph AFB, they must have had a lot of training going on that day.
So calming to watch this. From zero to flying one of these how long would it take ( Average )
Which App You use on the ipad for Airport Information ? Very good Video. Love the tbm

How come we don't always hear the replies from other traffic on the radio?
