I was building a drone with a sole purpose of a very long-range flight. I think that 5.8GHz is a terrible choice considering the inability of object penetration of high frequencies. What I would recommend and what I did choose also for myself is Matek's analog 1.2/1.3GHz VTX that outputs up to 800mW and TrueRC's Singularity V2 antenna. Pair these with a 1.2/1.3GHz VRX with a TrueRC's X-AIR directional antenna and you'll get a range that was thought to be impossible!

@@tragedium for me 1.3 ghz on my drone interferes with 868 , especially if i set VTX power to 800 mw. So radio range becomes lower then video. People say on drone not enough separation between vtx and radio rx

@@selfish1716 As I know 868MHz radios interfere with 1.3GHz video, not the other way. Because of that I'm using a notch filter on my video receiver.

I just replaced my last micro arrow with a micro ratel 2…sure it’s $10 more than the arrow, but it pretty much covers the entire spectrum of what you’d need from an FPV camera. $30 is the new $20 🤣😂🤣😂

best Long range Analog system is the Clearview. you can easily spend 1000 dollars, and that is without antennas, or screen. and you'll need two receiver antennas. but it's not completely analog, because it's digitally enhanced in real time. but has about 5X range than anything else.

I’m new to FPV (waiting for my first drone to come a Cetus X) and would like to say thank you for so many great videos with so much great knowledge. I was very excited to hear about your website and went to it out right away! Unfortunately it had so many pop ups that I couldn’t even see the page so eventually I just gave up and closed it. Hopefully you can change that because I’d love to soak up more of your know it all.

The guy who invented GIFs says it's pronounced "Jif" but if the acronym stands for graphics interchange format and last I checked the word "graphics" uses the hard g sound, just because you invented the acronym can you can change the way letters are meant to be pronounced? I'm ok with that, on principle you should also say "jiraffics". I think it is totally fine if people want to say it like that. Who am I to stop you from being on the wrong side of history, that's on you the the inventor of gifs.

'Just getting started' .. so assume would need goggles too? LR assumes longer flight times, and comfort factor. Hmm?
The suggestion to wait is a good one. So going cheap analog (for now) seems a wise choice. Investing in a couple quads (video gear) and goggles can quickly add up. Not an easy choice to make in 2022.

Can you please do a review of this vtx? You could probably score a free one from Foxeer considering I can find literally one guy talking about the system and it’s just to compare it to the HD system but it’s in Spanish😂. PLEASE REVIEW THE Foxeer 5.8G Reaper Extreme 2.5W 40CH VTx

Cost / pleasure points: digital wins hands down, if you want to actually enjoy a nice view while flying.
Also, higher chance of losing that analog quad in branches or powerlines
so it might actually work out the same - only half kidding!

Agreed... but the question is for long range. What the OP's definition of long range is, is also an important question which wasn't stated.

if you're doing long range I really hope you're not flying low enough to get tangled up in power lines lol

I was using Digital DJI. was going to go walksnail because the longer range. But now foxeer has 5w VTx analog. I have an AKK 3w analog but it seems even with DJI with pentration. on ground vehicles .. I can see better with DJI but i lose it its gone. analog i back up and right back haha

Analog. You can build a helical coil antenna for next to nothing. My first attempt I got just over 2 miles with the stock vtx on the "Geprc crocodile5 baby".

Thanks for the video. Is it possible to transmit live footage of digital vtx with gopro? I'm using gopro with gimbal and currently using analog system. Wondering if I can do the same with digital vtx but I see most of digital vtx comes with their own camera. So not sure if possible to use gopro cam with them. Anyone has any experience?
