#weirdalyankovic #fat #Reaction - Zábava
What makes it even funnier is that it’s from his album “Even Worse”.
🤣🤣
And it’s certainly not a _bad_ album. 😉
80% of Al's songs are originals. He writes songs for movies, tv and commercials. He does style parodies, where he studies an artists entire body of work and then writes a song in their style.
Check out the live performance of GERMS, it's a style parody of Nine Inch Nails.
Al live is the best Al.
My favorite of his style parodies are:
I'll sue ya -rage against the machine
CNR- white stripes.
There are side by side videos of this and bad, beat it and eat it. Weird Al's versions match the originals almost frame for frame. His Amish paradise is amazing at the end. He figured out how to lip sync the lyrics backward and the last scene is shown in reverse. In the last shot he is actually walking backwards away from the camera.
Al is the parody G.O.A.T.
Al’s version - Original
“It’s all about the Pentiums” - All about the Benjamin’s
“Amish Paradise” - Gangsta Paradise
“Tacky” - Happy
“Word Crimes” - Blurred Lines
“Perform This Way” - Born This Way
“Foil” - Royals
You won’t go wrong with any of those parodies.
His originals are also great:
“Germs”
“One More Minute”
And so on.
Thanks for the list 👍🏻👍🏻😜
They have done a reaction to Word Crimes if you want to check that out.
As per usual it's great!😊
@@firefighterchick I went looking for it and, sure enough, I had seen it already. It’s been so long, I forgot. That’s what happens when you’re an old geezer like me. Lol
@@Gulicktheemu I've been that way for as long as I can remember and I'm 46! 🤣
@@firefighterchick that was me 20 years ago. Lol.
Al is a legitimately talented man.
My favorite line from Fat is "My shadow weighs 42 pounds." 😅
Have a great day!
My favorite: "When I go to get a shoeshine, I have to take their word". That's subtle humor.
Michael Jackson was behind Weird Al doing these parodies. He supported him & offered him stage support as well. It was a good thing. Weird Al is extremely intelligent, witty & humorous.
He also did a parody of “Beat It” and called it “Eat it “
When he did Gangster Paradise ,he called it,AMISH Paradise,he was a genius!!
The Saga Begins is Weird Al's take on the Star Wars film, The Phantom Menace.
It's absolutely brilliant!!
I'd love to see what you think of it.
Weird Al is awesome! Great reaction!! Love his Amish Paradise, so good!😂
Omg your totally right. So is Living with a hernia
In my book, Weird Al is a Genius! He has a higher understanding of music than most people can realize.
Ah, I miss the 80's when we all knew what a joke/parody was. We could laugh at ourselves & at each other without getting so easily offended. I've watched countless reactions to this song & it's sad how many CZcamsrs are worried about being demonetized or "cancelled" for having a normal human reaction - laughing at something they find funny or ridiculously silly.
Back in the day there was a wide known saying amongst musical artists. You haven't made it in the business until Weird Al parodies your songs. My favorites are: Like a Surgeon, Amish Paradise, Livin' With a Hernia, Smells Like Nirvana & FAT! Michael Jackson was a big fan of Weird Al. He even helped with the making of this video, giving dance tips in addition to allowing Al to use the set. Let's give credit also to the large sized background dancers, running around & doing all those moves. They have more stamina than most people I know, myself included... Bravo & HAM ON!
Side note - Al's last name is pronounced Yank-o-vick (rhymes with stick) not Yank-o-vich (rhymes with witch).
Two of my favorite Weird Al's are Smells Like Nirvana and Craigslist, an ethereal takeoff on the Doors, with Ray Manzarek on the keyboards. A certified genius.
They already did a reaction to Smells Like Nirvana if you want to check it out! 😀
@@firefighterchick Thank you I did! Loved it. I still want to see Craigslist. One of his best parodies and no other reactor that I can see has done it.
@@RicoCosta317 agreed!
I also love White and Nerdy. 😂
@@sandrad9695 in case you didn't know already they reacted to that one as well. 😊
I agree with you guys. Not only does he have a great mind for comedy and creativity, he is actually super talented. He can sing in many different styles and he can rap well too.
Michael Jackson loved Weird Al's parodies, and Jackson told him which subway station he used in his video so that Weird Al could use the exact same location.
5:58 - Al: Hi, Michael. I thought I'd do a parody of 'Bad.' Is that okay? Michael Jackson: Sure, Al. Do you want to use the same set? I'll send over my choreographer to help.
No kidding. That's probably exactly how the conversation went, because Michael DID provide the set and his choreographer to help Al out.
I “grew up” on the Dr. Demento Show which originated in Los Angeles in the 1970’s on radio station KMET. He was also syndicated. In those early days we all couldn’t wait for the next Weird “Al” song (see what I did there?) after his first one, My Bologna (The Knack; My Sharona). It just never stopped being an audio hysterical delight. Another One Rides The Bus (Queen: Another One Bites The Dust). I Love Rocky Road (Joan Jett; I Love Rock ‘N Roll). It’s Still Billy Joel To Me (Billy Joel; It’s Still Rock ‘N Roll To Me). All audio for the radio and all on Dr. D. Then he got a budget and MTV came a falling. There are a LOT of food references in Al’s music. BTW there are original songs on his albums and they’re pretty darn good too. Witty, smart and delicious. I’ll request Smells Like Nirvana (Nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit). The video is just nuts. There are actors from the Nirvana video in it.
Joe
ETA:
I forgot to mention. Eat It (MJ; Beat It) is also awesome. Please note at the very end when Al is in bed there is a picture over the head of the bed. That is Dr. Demento.
How he manages all those dance moves in a full-on fat suit! When Weird Al first appeared on the scene wayyyyyy back in, like, '82 or so, I never imagined we'd still be enjoying his shtick in 2023.
Weird Al may not really be the King of Cellulite but IS the King of Parodys. 😂
Michael Jackson had a great sense of humor when it came to Weird Al doing his songs.
If you want to keep.going old school then Eat It should be the next one!
Amish Paradise is as someone else said the parody of Coolio's Gangster's Paradise from the movie soundtrack of Dangerous Minds.
Although still very funny here locally there was some controversy about it.
A band called Alien Ant Farm did a cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal that is awesome.
The video is full of MJ Easter eggs.
He originally was hesitant on giving them permission to do the song/video.
When he saw it he was very happy with their version.
Another parody although not by Weird Al is of the Jason Aldean song Try That in a Small Town that you've already reacted to.
It's called
You'll See That In A Small Town.
The Channel is called Ginger Billy.
It's quite funny and not too far off the truth.😂
Remember. No CGI.
You see his song "One more minutes" best break up song ever.
One More Minute is one of my favorite Al songs ever. Completely original song. It's what Al refers to as a "style parody", rather than a direct parody. Some of his best, in my opinion, is his style parodies. Whether copying a genre style or the style of a band. "Dare To Be Stupid" is a style parody of DEVO, but not a direct parody of a particular song. "Good Ol' Days" from Even Worse (same album as Fat), is kind of a James Taylor parody. "You Don't Love Me Anymore" from Off The Deep End, is a kind of a parody from the band Extreme, but not a direct parody of any one song! That's why Al is genius!!
Al literally IS a genius! Graduated from high school as the Valedictorian at the age of 16!! Earned a masters in architectural design by the age of 20. 😁
I saw him perform live twice,he was hilarious.Michael Jackson thought they were very funny. He did another weird performance from Jackson called Beat it,he called it Eat It.and Gangster Paradise, but the singer that sang Gangster Paradise ,was not amused, but both were hilarious,!!
Here's I'm Bad and I'm Fat side by side - it shows how Weird Al did a great job FRAME BY FRAME compared to MJ's video. MJ allowed Weird Al to use his own set for I'm Bad.
His voice is pretty good too.
You guys probably already know this, but it became a compliment for Weird Al to do a parody to one of your songs.
He channels james brown real well in “living with a hernia”.
Love this song! It's the first Weird Al song I remember hearing when I was young. "White and Nerdy" "Living with a Hernia" "All About the Pentiums" ate all great too!
Weird Al gets permission from the original writers of the songs he is going to parody even though he doesn't have to. The only artist to turn him down was Prince.
In fairness, some artists are reluctant to be parodied, and there are some who don't feel like they've arrived until Al has done a parody of their material. There's a range of reactions.
Can you imagine doing all that dancing in a fat suit
Schvitz time.
In concert even, which he did. Whew!
"Eat It" and "Spam" are 2 other great songs by Weird Al that you might want to check out.
Weird Al is one of a kind he is Great!!! It doesn't matter do any of his other ones are just as good!!!
My favorite lines are "When I sit around the house, I really sit around the house" and "My shadow weighs 42 lbs".
As Al tells it, he passed this song by Michael for his approval before release and he loved it.
Between Eat It & Fat, Michael Jackson was all for both and loved Weird Al's talent & comedy. It shows with how accommodating MJ was with working with Al and getting him whatever he needed to do the best job possible, a true professional. 👍
Lot's of the musicians who he imitated loved the final video even MJ who was on board from the start.
MJ loved Al, and all his work. It would have been a hilarious phone call.
He’s sooo clever! My favourite is ‘Eat It’ 🤣👍🇦🇺
Weird Al is The G.O.A.T.
Apparently MJ absolutely loved this.
When it comes to weird Al Eat It & fat there's a video of them playing side-by-side with Michael Jackson's beat It & bad
I also heard, Weird Al gets the artists' permission to use their song, the artist gets a share in the royalties, Michael Jackson even helped with the dance moves and using/recreating most everything true to the original video. Weird Al's parodies are fun to watch and be amazed with the similarities of the originals, his use of words to make sense of the story line, fitting it into the original music, the subtle signs of the artist or the era, good, clear humor. I am old enough to recognize some of the guests and props used in the videos (White and Nerdy, Amish Paradise0) and one has to recognize the time of the video was done. Watch the video Word Crimes, there is a lesson one can learn from it, literally. The creative mind Weird Al has, his singing abilities, dance moves and his ability to attract people if all ages to enjoy his videos, especially one is old enough that can remember the original videos. Thank you for showing these videos and give an older person a chance to reminisce of the time the original video came out and all the signs of days past.
One that a lot of people miss hearing is BOB. Every second line is a palindrome for the preceding line (first line spelled backward - a palindrome). Weird Al is a word genius.
As a person of extra poundage, this song resonates so much for me 🤣🤣🤣
I've seen this multiple times (I think I've seen most of Al's stuff), and this is one of my favourites. He's not only a comedic genius, but his attention to detail is always spot on (the 'hoe' bit cracks me up). Plus honestly, he's got some serious dance moves.
And hey! Almost at 85k! Nice one!
You guys even put #fat in the description. 😅. Love it!
Al is absolute genius. Glad you guys checked it out, great reaction.
"I got more chins than Chinatown." Offensive and hilarious at the same time.
Good old Weird Al, always good for a laugh.
For an extra laugh, compare the two album covers"Bad" (Michael Jackson) and "Even Worse" (Weird Al).
you really got to do weird al "living with a hernia" parody of james brown's song "living in america"
"When I get my shoes shined, I've gotta take their word." lol
Michael Jackson loved Al's stuff!!
Such a great rabbit hole to explore!!! Best advice is ALWAYS watch the ORIGINAL first. That way you will better catch the sight gags and puns. Like a Surgeon, Smells like Nervana, All about the Pentiums. And don't miss his original songs too, like One More Minute. I have been an Al fan since 1985 when he opened for the Monkees at the California State Fair. Pre-covid I attended six or seven of his concerts. Love him. (Note: His band can play any genre to go with any music style from The Beatles to Lady Gaga.) Take a deep breath and dive in!
Pretty much every song title you can guess is a great parody.
_"Weird Al" Yankovic - Eat It (...)_ czcams.com/video/ZcJjMnHoIBI/video.html is an obvious choice, I like:
_"Weird" Al Yankovic - Amish Paradise (...)_ czcams.com/video/lOfZLb33uCg/video.html
_WIERD AL YANKOVIC - Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies (...)_ less obvious, but maybe only appeals to folks who watched 60s TV.
EDIT: I'm very fond of:
_"Weird Al" Yankovic - Tacky (...)_ czcams.com/video/zq7Eki5EZ8o/video.html It's a great parody concept and lyrics. However, there's a very nerdy reason. It's claimed as one continuous take. (I only see 2 possible cuts). And there are some great comedy performances, especially Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black.
Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮
I think you will appreciate Ren's newest song, if only for the cinematography. It's a 9 minute 19 second live performance with only one cut, which had to happen for safety reasons. Not sure when our 'boys' will get to it with BP2 currently sailing the high seas, but I highly recommend it. Honestly, in my humble opinion, it deserves every award out there for all the parties involved. The visuals (and camera work) are outstanding. The song is outstanding too, but I'm a fan so I understand it won't be everyone's cup of 'Mourning coffee' 😉
(Also, I'm in that 'flaky' stage of responding to stuff at the moment. The brain fog (and neuropathy) is pretty bad, and won't improve until after I get my B12 booster on the 26th. But I've received and read all messages/emails etc). 😊
@@tundiel I'm on a 'Happy' binge,
So I've marked your comment in my email inbox, and will get to it.
Best Wishes. ☮
Weird Al is pure genius and a treasure with his brilliant parodies. He slays me every time. Thanks for the review. It made me laugh seeing it again. Good stuff mates from a fan from the US!
Metal Heads...New Wavers....Punk Rockers...Rap fans...you name it,back in the day it didn't matter what your taste in music was, when MTV had a new Weird Al video coming we were all down for it.
Al doesn't just parody songs, but many of his album covers too. On this album Al is posed like MJ on the "Bad" album. Al's album is called "Even Worse".
Nirvana's "Nevermind" cover features a baby underwater reaching for a dollar. On the "Off The Deep End" cover Al is underwater reaching for a doughnut.
The funniest video for me has to be "Living With A Hernia" (Living In America). James Brown himself taught Al the dance moves and James's band played in Al's video. You can't go wrong with anything by Al though.
He always cracks me up. This one is another classic. One of the most creative and talented musical comics ever. Thanks for the great reaction and the laughs guys.
By itself, this is a great parody. Knowing what he was poking fun at (MJ Bad) makes it all the better.
this was filmed in the same location as Michael Jackson's Bad video was shot. same parking garage. this is the sequel to "Eat it", which is a parody of Michael Jackson's "beat it", he used the same set there too.
Al is a genius, period!
I would have loved to see Micheal's reaction when he saw this.
There is a side by side of the two videos that is amazing. Al nailed it!
Michael Jackson’s blanket approval of Weird Al’s parodies really opened the floodgates for other people to approve them as well because if Michael Jackson doesn’t mind weird al spoofing his songs how can anyone else argue
Look up “Germs”. It was filmed live at one of his concerts long before the pandemic.
Michael Jackson was a great admirer or Al. When Al approached MJ he not only agreed to the song but also allowed Al to use the Bad set. Al also wanted to parodied Blacl Or White, MJ said no as the song was too personal.
Weird Al should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. IMHO
Hello from México!... this reaction made me smile a lot... I've been a fan of Weird Al all my life and one time while working at a record (and video) store I ordered the Weird Al video collection on DVD, as an import. When it arrived I opened it and just had to watch a bit on the big screen at the store, the first video was this one and I was there enjoing it when I heard laughter behind me, I turned around and a crowd of people where watching with me and laughing!! Weird Al speaks to everybody even if they don't speak the same language... keep up the great reactions...
"When I go to get my Shoes Shined, I've Gotta take their Word" (Hope you guys caught that one!)
I can't even believe you guys haven't seen this before! It was so much fun seeing you guys practically falling out of your chairs. Wild reaction!
Fat was the new Bad.
I love it, More Chins than China Town!
He does an amazing Hamilton Polka. Brilliant work.
You should do his Deco parody, "Dare to be Stupid". Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh said it was a song Devo should have done.
Not a parody, more like a Devo pastiche.
From what I hear W.A got permission from M.J to use the same set he used for "Bad".
Ren's Album dropped today
Money Game 3 yesterday
Atm his pre orders are top 10 in 20 countries
Hardly any reactors from the Uk have reacted?
I'm so pleased for him! It's doing so well. Hopefully it keeps momentum for the next week so that it gets it's much deserved spot in the official charts. 🤞 Oh, and as for MG3 * chef's kiss *
😂😂😂 Such a talented guy ❤
Living with a hernia Is a good one
MJ was also mad that Al's jacket had more buckles and zippers
I love the energy with you guys. If you would like a peak at a crazy comedy video of the past. May I suggest Spike Jones "Cocktails For Two" It's a good laugh.
I'm an awfully big fan of British musical comedy (Flanders and Swann, Idle/Innes, Bill Bailey, Tim Minchin) but the US has a lot to be proud of in our own musical comedians, and Weird Al is certainly the best of our home grown crop!
Check out I Lost On Jeopardy! One of my faves.
Ham on! Shamu!
NM USA reppin’ the “505” (US phone area code, for you blokes)
You two are cool… your x culture takes make me laugh.. I’m exurban to the big town in NM, Albuquerque. Just N is a little village called Corrales which is where I got my name , obv…
Loved your reaction! Two of my favorites are Foil and White and Nerdy
iv seen al live many times, i you can see him its a really treat. i
Eat It ls also a great one from Weird AL ( Beat It )
Yo, ding dong man. Ding dong, ding dong, yo!
So many great Wierd Al songs. I'd highly recommend Party in the CIA and an original song, Hardware Store
Loved this one
When you pause to give commentary you should push the *Back🔙Button* before continuing play the video. Cuz you missed a great line *"when I go to get my shoe shined* (you pause) then the next line is *"I got to take their word"*
you should (please ) react to the live concert performance of this + "Smells like Nirvana", " 1 more minute" "Flintstones" "Eat It" and "Yoda" live. His music videos to "Like a surgeon : and "white and nerdy " are worth reacting to also
Weird Al and Michael Jackson were really good friends
the set is not a recreation, micheal jackson heard that the set was about to be torn down and he reached out to Al asking if he wanted to do a parody of bad and if so would he like to use the set, fashion designer, stage hands... basically the whole crew that filmed "bad". also I believe the same for "eat it".
no need for permission for a parody...
it was an epiphany seeing this as a youngster. plz watch more of him
I sing like a surgeon for kareoke 😂😂😂
Lyrics are so great lol!
Michael Jackson was a big fan. That is the actual Bad set, Michael let him use it.
If you do his song Hardware store best do the lyric video because he raps faster than most anyone.
I'm searching to see if y'all have "Eat It" by Weird Al. The side-by-side version with Beat It shows how great it really is.
Al can sing too. You should watch early clip of him doing parady of "another one bites the dust".. with anither guy using a metal bucket and other small instruments.. ine if my favorites.
The other guy is Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz and is still Al's drummer to this day.
