Aretha we do some magical phrasing that brings colors and life and paints a picture.

My friend took me to see Patti for my 40th birthday. I hadn't been out of the city in years and I was soo excited. When the show was over, we'd just gotten off the elevator and were almost at our room when my friend said; "Look we're on the same floor. I went to her kissed her and told her my name was Patti too. It was my b'day and thanked her for being my "gift !" She smiled, sweat was pouring from her and I know she was tired. It was a wonderful weekend, one I'll never forget.

I remember seeing this for the first time and fell in LOVE. Patti LaBelle sang her face off on this and I love how she got into the moment and her mouth went away from the mic and you could still hear that voice. They each did good but Patti went OFF

That signature "LaBelle harmony is tight as a drum and Patti is already a FIRECRACKER here coming out their Bluebell days. I thought she ripped the lid off much later so this is a true history lesson for me. THANK YOU FOR SHARING! I have sat in Patti's kitchen w/ her watching old CZcams clips of performances she has long since forgotten. She gets very tickled seeing them... hairstyles, wardrobe, band members, behind-the-scenes stories conjured up. I can almost guarantee she hasn't seen this one.

+mreynol1 LOL!! Don't I know; I have all the Labelle albums and the one where they kinda-sorta did background for Laura Nyro (sometimes it seems Patti was co-leading on a couple of songs..LOL). The song you mentioned is another example of Patti's ability to draw upon the Blues in her myriad of singing styles.
It's truly warming to my heart to see how many others appreciate the other Labelle material besides what's on the Nightbirds album.
I have all of their albums and all of Patti's as well. Even a lot of her early solo work isn't as appreciated as it should be. Released and I'm In Love Again are two very good ones.
