  • Is the Sony a6400 good for filmmaking? In this video I filmed a short cinematic intro with a fully rigged Sony a6400. I really loved the way my footage came out. I believe the Sony a6400 is a great camera for beginner filmmakers when used correctly.
    Huge thanks to my buddy Adrian for all the amazing B-roll, check his IG out @fides_rex

    Thanks for this video man, super helpful. I have a small rig cage and wooden grip on my a6400 already for better handling. I am now wanting to expand a more robust rig for when recording concert photos and videos.
    I was hoping to ask you about external batteries and mounting options. I was looking into getting a NP-F970 and a dummy battery, but also curious as to how you have your battery setup. I won't be using an external monitor (yet) so having access to the flip up screen is still important for me right now.
    What could you recommend for a battery solution either with what you have, or with a NP-F970?

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před 2 lety +3

      So I only use this camera now for weddings as a b cam since it doesnt have recording limits. I use the battery grip for that, I have a video on that, but if you plan on using it handheld I would suggest the v mount. It will last all day and continue to work if you eventually go to cine bodies, but then you need a cage and rails and vmound adapter. The npf will also last since monitors tend to use those. Just figure out how to rig it. Hope this works 😅

    • @asimgeekhan
      @asimgeekhan Před 2 lety

      @@JesusMartinezCreates the possibility are endless hahaha. I looked into some V mount options and other builds, but will have to spend a little more time understanding voltages and power draw. From what I know so far, is to not exceed 7.4v or 8v powering the camera?
      I will likely have a tamron 11-20 f2.8 mounted on it, so i'd like to have it as modular as possible. That way I can go from wide video to wide photos without tools and and be more mobile.

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před 2 lety +1

      @@asimgeekhan yeah possibilities are endless. Yeah I dont remember but vmount plates sometimes have those power putputs check before you buy one.
      Thats tuff since you have to undo a lot of things. Really depends on your workflow, you might not even need the vmojnt if you go battery grip or lp mount. Good luck! I am still figuring out what works for me lol best is to have a second cam for photo ready to go or charge more and bring someone to do photo. Good luck 👋🏼

    @antonisdavis2288 Před rokem

    in order to rec handheld on 24p, and 25p you have to use tripod, gimbal, or steadycam without stabilization on the lense.

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před rokem

      You can do handheld if youre not doing crazy movements. There no camera that can handle walking and look super smooth. Also, having a heavy rig would help stabilize more.
      Stabilization in lens helps but doesnt solve the walking situation.

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před rokem

      Hold up lines on the mirror? Like the sensor?
      First make sure to take photos with it and test its working and only an lcd hardware issue.
      If all is good then I would say get an external monitor and a cage for your camera since you plan on doing music videos. You can find around 150 for that and get a 35mm 1.8 or 24mm 1.8, or if you can a tamron 28-75. Also extra batteries. You can start with just cam and a lens but all those things will make you a better setup. They average $800 used on ebay

    Question: I heard the Sony in camera colours are not great (that’s why I am drawn to the Fuji XE4’s film simulation) n to get true cinematic feel you need to do colour grading, meaning a no to me! But all other aspects this Sony wins! What’s your thought on this?

    One of the best videos about a6400 on CZcams! I am currently choosing between a6400 and Fuji xs10. Watched heaps reviews and quite a bit concerned with the terrible rolling shutter on a6400. May I ask how you deal with it? Thank you

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před rokem +1

      You forget about it haha its bad but I think maybe once I did a hard pan and saw that. I mean I can only think of a rek komodo with a global shutter. Youll be fine unless you plan to do that a lot. I dont and at the price range it was perfect for me at the time it came out. I am a hybrid shooter though.

    • @JesusMartinezCreates
      @JesusMartinezCreates  Před 3 měsíci +1

      In order to slow down the footage you have too shoot at higher than 24fps. The higher the frame rate, the slower you can go. 120fps gives you the slowest speed. Depending on your editing suite theres a percentage that the footage can get slowed depending in frame rates. I am sure you can fin on google but 60fps is 40% and 120fps is 20%. Anything past rhat becomes a bit choppy.
      Your shutter speed also affect how smooth it is if your filming something in motion. I would crank shutter a but if you want that zero motion blur as its slowed down.
