Edit: since you’re curious about why the song is structured in “phases”, each theme is played depending on certain criteria during the duel. The first theme is just the default that plays when the match starts (which is called the “duel theme”) the second is played when a specific card, usually important to the deck being played or is designated by the player in the deck editor, enters the field (called the “key card” theme) and the third is triggered when one player is close victory/defeat (called the “climax theme”)
iirc "Key Card" applies to any monster with a summon animation
@@MansMan42069 you’re probably right, I just always assumed it was triggered by playing one of the cards you can display when you select a deck (which for me were always just cards with animations)

Edit: If you want prob the soundtrack's absolute peak, Konami had 3 pieces of music entirely reserved for the game's World Championship battles, three pieces of music that still has not been used outside that once a year event.
You can find it under the number/name "EX3".

The reason there is boss music in a card game simulator is because you play as the boss in this game. The music dynamically shifts in sync with your actions, and other players will always hear the song you choose, based on the field you select before playing.
P.S. If you like the wooden flute, I recommend themes #13 and #5; these songs are my favorites so far and they make surprisingly good use of ancient instruments. (I also love #4, #12, and #14.)
Master Duel has so many great tracks. Its just a shame that most players don't get to hear it in game (barring some exceptions) because for some reason Konami decided that these tracks are to be linked to OPPONENT's field instead of your own. Whoever came up with that needs to be slapped in the face 😢

Would definitely love to see more Yugioh theme music. I recommend the Master Duel Complete Theme playlist on Entertainment Duelist’s channel, they’re edited together much better and save the time to look for all the different themes. And Duel Links also has some really nice music as well if you looking for more yugioh related music
trust me this games soundtrack is one of the reasons i play the game, they are so good, the shiranu theme gives me goosebumbs every time

Been playing Master Duel since Day 1 and I never noticed out good the music was til now since I always played with audio muted. Gotta change that now.
Since day 1 people posted the memes of the guy playing the burning piano, but the better ones you can find Playing the events or the solo modes
Konami needs to let us choose themes or attach them to fields or something
I still cant belive they went this hard for the background music on the online simulator that doesnt even reference the anime much compared to other yugioh games

It's really hard to recommend specific themes since the entire ost is bonkers and absolutely worth listening to, but if I had to Limit it to 3 it would probably be #12 followed by #13 followed by #14 (though #4 is also peak when it comes to the earlier themes)
master duel is like genshin, most themes are top tier
I never expected you to listen to Yu-Gi-Oh music. Although it is a mobile game it is first and foremost a computer game and it's monetization is much better than a lot of other games.

I suggest you check out YuGiOh Master Duel Theme #12, it hits hard in the climax.

So (and this is not a reaction recommendation, it's a recommendation for personal listening for everyone who happens to read this) there's a person that made a mashup/remix of bad apple using climax #5 and it's absolute fire, it's kinda hard to find as it's just called "climax theme #5 - Yu-Gi-Oh! master duel" but if you put silva Gunner (that's the channel) at the end you should find it
Every single Masterduel theme is amazing. Not all of them will be quite as good as this one but there legitimately isn't one that isn't top tier music.

oh, my man, you have no idea. anything yugioh just about ALWAYS has amazing music. look up blue angel's theme from yugioh vrains, as an example
Ahhh master duel, my beloathed, it's so bad and good yet I keep playing (much better than duel links, that shit will shank you and steal your wallet… that one is basically just as expensive as playing the real game)
However I will say the online client is like THE best client of every card game, it looks good, it sounds good, it feels good
