I feel like current James Acaster is this guy's evil twin
this is the guy from that bathroom.
Not the James's of today
this james reminded me of how expressionless current james is
I don’t know. This James is concealing something. I don’t trust him.
If you look carefully, this isn't James Acaster. It's James Acastor according to the signage on the stage. So, not an evil twin but an evil doppelganger.
Man the cabbage war really changed him
Or maybe remembering the horrible pool protest over the first Spice Girl album...
@@DottorCriniera *_spice_*
Hahahahahahha would I lie to u reference here
@@DottorCriniera he really really wanted it
I think it might have been sleeping outside a train station in a red dress that did it
"Whoa, you're a cool guy. You have a hat on."
*Ignores dude with eyepatch*
No joking. I'm surprised he didn't say anything about that.
@@trickytreyperfected1482 I was surprised too. But then again, I'd be afraid of a guy with an eyepatch fighting me if I stole his phone.
I feel like he purposely picked the dude next to the one with the eyepatch as a joke lmaoo
@@trickytreyperfected1482 Hah, hard to pick the guy with the eyepatch when you know there is a joke in your set later about getting a finger in the eye.
@@gat0rch0mp true. Maybe the real reason for the eyepatch was so he could see below deck later. (Wait, is that what pirates used it for?)
Was really worried thinking wow he’s so different now, little did I realise that this is James Acastor and not James Acaster
@The new account Haters watch the video lmao
worst possible moment to misspell his name as 'acastor' and have your mistake repeated 500 times all over the back wall, viewable from every angle
Haha I just noticed that too!
I didn't even notice that 🤦🏾♀️
Never effected him.
He spells it that way on his own channel, and convinced me that it was the correct spelling. Now, I'm not sure, because he's exactly the sort of person to take a mistake like that and to with it.
@@jpaugh64 * roll * / * prank people *
One of his early bits was he said his surname is an olde English translation of 'gift shop'.
its so weird hearing his voice like this, he hadn't fully found his comedic tone yet
I hadn't noticed.
@Manchester United its really not, coming from someone who listened to over 4,000 minutes of his voice this year according to spotify wrapped
@Manchester United haha fair enough!!!
@Manchester United it isn’t
Prefer this guy
i love this, his true personality .. a little bit of his character not yet fully developed
Nah this is before the breakdown in 2016 that must’ve fucked him up
@@karenwhotookthekids3298 wait what?? what happened
@@ohnana18 The breakdown occurred in 2017: His partner broke up with him, triggering a mental breakdown that spiraled rapidly out of control. He hadn't been looking after himself mentally and physically for years leading up to the breakdown and it all hit him like a freight train. When he sought counselling, his therapist ended up starstruck and insisted his problems were related to fame and being a celeb, which wasn't the case. His bad therapy only exacerbated his depression.
@@Zesty869 is this true or is it backstory for his character?
@@jackmceleny5372 he talks about it a lot in his newest standup. while you can’t say all of it is 100% true it is his first personal set so a lot of it is at least somewhat true. he’s been very open about the breakdown recently though it’s the basis for his perfect sounds podcast too
Wow, they put his name up behind him, like a million times; not once did they spell it right!
They spelt it right every time ...
+Fresh Gaming - Minecraft & More! They spelt it tor not ter
Yeah that bothered me too. I'd love to see him do a bit on them spelling his name wrong.
It's spelled "Pat Springleaf"!
Im sure they just have to type the name in once. It's a very common set up I've seen.
Hey everyone. I'm the guy who mispelt James' name. I'm really sorry! In my defence, it was up on screen a long time before we recorded and no one else spotted it. The show involved so much work and a lot of pressure and mistakes do happen! This will be my legacy 😆
That's so cool! It all worked out fine in the end 😂
Hahaha. Cool that you're here. It was ages ago, I'm pretty sure people have more serious worries rn
Acastor is James while he was being built. Acaster is James now that he is complete.
We forgive you Lee Wattson
if you watch it lo-res you can't even tell 😂
Nice to see a not fully developed, UK’s most awkward comedian. It’s him vs Ayoade.
“Me and Richard are having an awkward-off”
Is there richard ayoade standup that I'm not aware of??
@@dillonbohannon8073 richard hasn’t done much stand-up, but there is a clip here from quite a while back: czcams.com/video/nCIQ13UX2kE/video.html
@@myrin265 I love you
He talks about his name being mispelled on the new episode of Off the Menu with Russell Howard 😂
I never thought there was a time he smiled this much while on stage
Been trying to find this! Do you have a link?
When said, “People getting hit in the face with bricks is never funny”, my first thought was “what about in Home Alone 2?” Then he read my mind...
I waited 13:39 minutes to find out why it says James Acastor on the wall behind him.

Its insane to see how much his persona developed from here
He hasn't aged in nearly 10 years what the actual hell
His voice sounded so different!
It’s weird seeing his gigs without his Acaster confidence that he’s had for the last 4 years
Live in Wolverhampton, can confirm an argument could be started by wheetabix round here.
I imagine spelling it incorrectly really triggers them...
I bet that guy with the eyepatch can relate all too well with James's story.
That thing about the eye was horribly uncomfortable to imagine 😬
My ex works in a school with autistic teens. They do stuff like that all the time. Job turnover is very high.
notice the man with a hat and completely ignore the man next to him with a fucking eyepatch
James Acaster's normal cousin: James Acastor.
(👁👄👁) me after I sleep equally on both sides of my face after getting botox
Yeah
“James Acastor” all behind him. Boy, that must have been frustrating.
Why do I kinda fancy him
If you also kinda fancy Chris Addison you might just have a type.

am i the only one who died at his description of the eye incident
It's astounding how many comedians used to be teachers.
my favourite bit of comedy from acaster but the bit about how his eye injury happened always makes me recoil
James Acaster really just pulled out a 3310 what a legend
I've gotten used to him using this much deeper voice when he's interviewing musicians for Perfect Sounds. It makes me curious though if this is his natural speaking voice, or the one he uses on stage now, with this deeper one being when he is more reserved/nervous.
This set was mentioned on his podcast 'Off Menu' with Ed Gamble recently. Their guest was Russell Howard and James mentioned his name being misspelt!
The weetabix thing made me think of spike in buffy. "I like a bit of crunch with my blood!"
Never seen him so energetic.
OMG Acastor 😂
I have watched this set so many times and never noticed until they mentioned it in the podcast
He seems like a completely different person now. Different accent and everything 😯
how is a link to buy the shirt he's describing not included in the description?
I can't get over how different his voice sounds lol
This is great 😂 “unlucky sucker”
when they misspell his name in the background
LoL so hard at the lions avoiding strong winds, then the cheetahs slipping on wet grass, that my stomach hurts. Thanks James. It’s still hurting now at the end of the clip.
He's so sweet! 🥰
Great to reminisce about where you saw JA First!
James is a star
I love him so so much so cute
This got my like because of the haunted house t shirt alone. First time I've wanted a t shirt without seeing it first.
0:00 and that is james acaster's impression of martin dear from green wing
Came here after the Off Menu episode where he discussed having “James Acastor” in the background.
well this tells me he’s been in this business... for a while
oml it's baby james!
This acastor fella reminds me a hell of a lot of comedian James acaster
I love this 😁😄
Oh yes James acastor
I just realised they spelt Acaster as Acastor in the background
So weird to see him smile while telling a joke! :D
Sock full of acorns
"Unlucky sucka! Finders keepers, shut up!"
I need that T-shirt
I really fucking want that shirt now
Back when James used to smile and his name was spelled wrong. Good times
Spat out my Shreddies at the Thomas the Tank Engine lunchbox run!
Spike in BTVS famously crunched up his Weetabix in blood.
On the off menu podcast, james called russell howard out on the spelling of his name ahhaahhaha
Only realised after the off menu podcast that his name is misspelled :D
same ,, this is so sad and funny
This makes me realise James was always amazing but the cabbage war definitely changed him...
Where can i buy this shirt
When did he do this?
Imagine your otp as James and his glow in the dark shirt stranger
Why does it say James acastor in the background
anyone else notice james looks like 90s fireman sam
They mis-spelt his name on the background screen...
What year was this? Going by the phones?
Apparently it's 2011 which seems about right based on the blackberry comment
Goddamn he appears to love these peaches.
That's not James. He's smiling.
I know right?! So pretty it distracts you from his jokes. I think that's why he stopped.
It's called depression
...you ignorant shit.
Oh them we're the days, when blackberries were still cool.
🎶🎵A la la la la Humpty!🎶🎵
i totally get why he switched to a more deadpan delivery. his smile is way too distracting
It seems like his voice is different. I can't tell what it is. Has his accent gotten stronger over the years or has his voice got deeper or is it something else?
oh my i havent heard the word biro since i started learning english at school xD
They misspelled his name on the back part
very funny
James Acastor 😂
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I want that t-shirt *-
Same 😅
If you've not seen Repertoire yet, go on, treat yourself! You deserve it, you've been good today x
I just got up... though I admit, I did that pretty well!
HIs voice changed from now to here
How so?
is his name spelled wrong in the back?
He should tell his story about having to sleep in a bush in BasingStoke.... Sorry not sure how to spell that.... Who knows the story I'm talking about? It's hilarious!
wearing a dress!!
Was that 8 out of 10 cats?
@@draghag no, that was on an episode of "Would I lie to you?" Do you know the show? If not let me know and I'll tell you about it. It is a very good show.

Shitbucket Explorations really
Nah, it was 2011. His style has changed so much!
every time I hear an escalator joke it reminds me of the local mall, which has an escalator in the middle and stairs at the extreme ends. whenever the escalator wouldn't work, it would be cordoned off with out of order signage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a nonfunctioning escalator still a set of stairs?
background says Acastor
They misspelled his name in the background. They spelled it Acastor instead of Acaster
The misspelling behind him is really bugging me
Hey Ron Weasley.
Is the misspelling of his last name on purpose?
