At the cost of dividing it?? It's one thing to be confident and respectful, but it's another to be willfully arrogant causing destruction. To every decision, there HAS to be boundaries established and maintained, something of which, Trump knows nothing about.
That depends entirely on how you define "your country", and what it means to be put "first".
Is your country everyone who lives there, the geographical area, the local biology, the GDP, or just a group of people who meet some set of arbitrary criteria for "truly" being part of "your country"? Is to be put first just to be prioritized at all, or to be prioritized above all else to the exclusion or detriment of others?
To "put ones own country first" is an intentionally vague rhetoric often used in the history of politics to make a target demographic of voters feel like something is for their benefit and is justified because it is "for the country", all the while obfuscating that what it is being used to argue for entails something morally reprehensible, commonly exclusionism.
In short, what is wrong with it is that people fall for it.

Just because it is a vague enough statement to use it as such.
If you're going to treat that as a personal insult when you respond, instead of taking a moment to analyze the argument and actually respond to it.. then I don't think you're very likely to take a moment to analyze any of the arguments made by politicians either.
