It was literally the dictionary definition of an insurrection:
“An act of violent or open resistance to an established government or ruler.”
“The action or process of resisting authority, control, or convention.”
People were severely injured and nearly killed, not just insurgents but police, security and other personnel. This is not the America we should stand for. This is why we protest and riot. This was neither, this was an insurrection.
But the fact that you jumped to defend it so quickly, with nothing backing you, makes you look guilty. It’s like if I was saying how murderers are bad people and you jumping in and saying that you’re aren’t a bad person and that you never killed someone and that they are just lost in the woods.

What's been even more frightening, disheartening, and maddening is how his support has seemed to not only solidify, but expanded. Very few of us here in the US now are looking at November with anything less than overwhelming anxiety. Especially since he is trying and succeeding in undermining our national mailing system to prevent Americans from submitting our votes by mail, even as we stare down the face of a pandemic and suffer from mass polling station closures. And he's convinced a good part of our population that the /only/ way he can lose is if the election is fixed against him. And we're just. So terribly, incredibly sorry.
