  • Finally got around to installing the extended gas tank for my generator. Now almost 8 Gallons total capacity. Should run for about 70-80hours and extend my fill ups to twice a month.
    You can find all the parts needed on eBay.
    Search for
    "Gas Tank Generator"
    "Extended Run Gas Cap"

    Like your video, those APUs are Extremely Expensive! I was looking at them for a food trailer, way to much. Can you use a generator like is use in RV's? I have 2 for Food trailer, one is 7,200 watts the other i am currently using is 5,500 Onan low rpm, 1800. Super quiet! It can run days on a 11 gal tank! Not constantly, working days. 8 to 12 hrs day. Some may even fit in your apu case. Just a thought. Good videos!

    I’d watch out on that gas line so close to exhaust, and how about generator exhaust being under the ac won’t it pull that inside? On another note how’s this been working out for you I’m doing a similar setup on my truck

    • @DrivingByBraille
      @DrivingByBraille  Před 3 lety

      Gas line is near the drive line not exhaust. But it’s further away than what the video shows. No issues yet. Been this way for over a year. Exhaust is routed towards the drives. No issues with exhaust fumes.
      Very happy with the setup. I did buy another generator that was an open box item. Don’t seem to run very strong. Going to probably purchase the craftsman you have. Other than that. I’m happy with it. I would rather have this setup then an APU. Like you have shown in your videos, there is so much you can use a generator on. A lot of these company drivers that rather sit and have their company pay to install a light bulb, don’t have the mental capacity to understand the tool aspect of having a generator.

    Hey there Braille! I Ran into you at Pepsi in AZ a few weeks ago and asked you about your camera setup. I was the Super T next to you. I didn't know you had a YT Channel! You should have told me! I just subscribed and Liked this for you. I just saw that your Generator was attached to the Faring hangers with what looked like Ratchet straps... Did it stay secure? I'm thinking about doing this myself... What straps and how many did you use?😃 Stay safe and keep the rubber side down and the rubberband tight!

      I don’t like to advertise. I have a video about the install on the generator somewhere. But it’s just the 2 L brackets I bought off of four states and the genny is actually bolted down and also chained. No straps. I’ve had straps cut from people trying to steal my genny.

  • @MG-ks1qg
    @MG-ks1qg Před 2 lety

    I hope that truck is either pre emissions or is deleted. Grass burner exhaust and high temp gases from a regen combined with fuel lines full of gasoline is not a great combination.

    • @DrivingByBraille

      Never had an issue. Fuel line is pretty sturdy.

    • @MG-ks1qg
      @MG-ks1qg Před 2 lety

      @@DrivingByBraille if for whatever reason the truck says it needs a regen, it could be pretty bad. The exhaust gets insanely hot, and that heat is going up right towards the fuel line. I would be concerned about it melting.
      I would recommend that you wrap the line with heat shielding tape.
      And even better would be shielding it further with a small flex exhaust pipe.

    1:00 that quick drain aint good for your engine. It doesnt have the magnet likebthe original drain plugs have meaning its not pulling the metal shavings to the that quick drain plug and its just chewing your engine up. Take it out unless you want a premature rebuild

    • @DrivingByBraille
      @DrivingByBraille  Před 2 lety

      Isn’t that what a filter is for? Pretty sure it gets picked up by the pump, goes through the filter, then lubricates the parts. Not logical thinking there. That magnet is there for basic inspection. It’s not there to catch metal from going into your lubicated parts. Pretty sure if that was the case, the engineers would have made a much bigger magnet. Think about it…
