Got a Chinese 2 stroke generator from Amazon. The one that wranglerstar recommended and reviewed recently. I was wondering what I needed to do to make the tank last longer. This is it. Thanks. I had to modify it a bit but I just wanted to make sure it was actually something I can do before I tried it.
Nonetheless, thanks for making the video. I've been looking to try this set-up and this is about as basic and cheap as the project needs to be. Thank you.
Have been trying to make this work for a while, how do you deal with the the generator tank building pressure with no where to vent. When generator runs for a while the gas gets hot and builds positive pressure in the tank. The line that you capped off was how the generator gets rid of the pressure through the carbon canster. When pressure builds it stops the flow of the gas from the aux gas tank. The only way I have found is to have a vent somewhere else. What have you done to get pass the pressure problem.
This has been working for over a year in all temps. The pressure is going up the cap, through the hose, into the boat tank. Have not had a problem. Make sure the cap on the BOAT tank is venting. Make sure if its hot out side dont overfill the boat tank. It will spew out badly. Any more questions feel free to ask
@@lsherrouse I used this cap that I got from Ebay item number 112504168879. BE SURE that it is for the Predetor 3500 watt Inverter ! Nothing else will fit. Also this type of extended run fuel system is a gravity feed type system. So if you still have the primer bulb in the fuel line you must remove it. It is a one way check valve. So now the fuel tank can vent back through and into the extended run tank. And position the fuel tank above the generator so that the fuel will gravity flow to the new fuel cap.
@@sonicbob7127 pressure from original gas tank will build up and make you lose prime... Tried it and it failed. Have noticed the JB Weld Marine version fails over time. Trying Gorilla Weld now
@@lsherrouse So has your original design been working as intended? I just made a similar cap for my Predator, but haven't tried it yet. Keeping the bulb on the hose will prevent losing prime, but then you have the possibility of damage because of high pressure build up in the generator tank. If it does lose prime, wouldn't the negative pressure in the main tank suck the gas from the auxiliary tank, especially if the tank is elevated higher than the generator's tank?

I really laughed out loud with that one! 🤣🤣

@@dannyrusso8279 on your auxiliary tank, just loosen the top just enough...should be ok after runs for an hour so it doesn't splash out

Hey. My doesn’t suck. The gen builds pressure and it doesn’t let fuel to go to the tank. Elevated. Any idea how to make it work?
I has to be gravity fed...is it an old style predator or is the new type?
@@lsherrouse I’m using ryobi. Tried to lift the tank, doesn’t help..
