- Everyone in Connecticut knows about "New Haven-style" pizza, but we heard about two restaurants in Massachusetts called New London Style Pizza, so we had to go investigate.

“I don’t want to ruin their business.” Best line in the entire video. 🤣😂🤣
Memories of New London in the early 50’, the 7 Brothers and an elderly couple who sold pizza from their home . Fill up with beer at the 7, then walk to the couple’s home and sit on the porch, in a short while the the most delicious pizza arrived, sadly those days are long gone.
I grew up in CT and heard of "New England Style" Greek Pizza which is served in just about every rural town in Southern New England. More doughy and they use oil in the Greek style.
I love dry humor, so thanks for quite a few good laughs! I didn't realize Greek style pizza originated in New London, as it seemed to be everywhere in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. I grew up in a small town with two stoplights and a half dozen Greek pizza parlors.
Thank you so much for this Rick! I grew up in New London eating Greek -Style pizza. I know a bit about pizza and the many regional styles in the U.S. Now I can add New London Style Pizza to the list! You have enlightened the entire Pizza Universe! Simply brilliant!
Thank you for getting to the bottom of this!
New Haven style pizza is what so many people claim is best. I genuinely would give Sally's or Pepe's ashy burnt pizzas about a 2 - wouldn't eat it unless it was free and I was really hungry and there was nothing else to eat. A GOOD CT pizza would be a 10 and I would love to get a decent pizza out here in CA .
New London was there from at least 1975 or so and the original location was right near the new one, in West Acton. Loved it as a kid...super nice family...
Grew up on Pizzarama and sneaking off to Supreme from WHS. Now live 15 minutes from these 2 restaurants! Yum. (PS go Tulane!) Great video.
Yes Ocean! Supreme! And Great Oak on the line of Norwich and Uncasville!
A lot of people are not familiar with "Greek Style" pizza. It is usually cut in squares and is a blend of cheeses, which gives it a unique flavor. I am from New England aka the "Pizza Belt", where pizza is typically a thin-crust, but I also love deep-dish as well. 🍕 😋
THIS IS GREAT!! Thanks so much Rick!
This is great. I had heard that a few places In Mass call Shoreline/ Greek Style from around here New London Style.
Brilliant Rick!!! Always a fount of knowledge in a wacky world. This made my day!
Pizzarama is the holy grail of pizza
love the location in acton, even though they changed their paint scheme from my childhood.
The Hardy Boy's reference!!! 😂😂😂
Delaware County Pa has like 15-20 New London Style Pizza shops all 30-40 years old, Northern Delaware has a few, South Street in Philly has 1, there is 1 one the Wildwood NJ boardwalk, all of them Greek
Well done Rick. I saw the shop in Concord many years ago and wondered about the New London style I tried it and the pizza was good, but I agree it's Greek pizza and it is like the pizza in New London.
Great Work Rick!!!!
Grew up down the street from ocean pizza, actually went to school with Luigi lol. I live in South Korea and make pan style pizza at my pub here. I just call it CT style pizza, meaning our state is home to the best pizza in the country.
Can you elaborate on the cheese? It's a blend, right? Cheddar/mozzarella? Also, the dough?
I'd never heard of "New London-style" pizza before this video, but I have had Greek pizza and like it.
What ever happened to the pizza place on Truman street just a couple doors down from saltonstall when it was a school they had the best pizza I have ever eaten and they are the mark that I judge all others by I've had some good pizza but nothing to compare with theirs not to mention grinders
You should do a in investigation on the grinda New London home of the "GRINDA"...
4:24 That's a sloppy claim to make. Pizzarama was founded in 1962. The former restaurant run by Costas Kitsatis known as the Pizza House was making this style since 1955, they have the claim as the originators of this style.
Sorry, No Pan Pizza is the best.
Living next to new London my entire life and knowing just how much of a piece of shit the city is, the expectations of this 100% wound not be worth the ride
Suck is not a style
ill fight u
@@wlong1794 😆
if physically or intellectually you're as weak as your taste in pizza is, it wouldn't be a fair fight...
@@Zark56 I can't tell from your profile picture, but are your eyes as cold and dead as your taste buds must be?
