      I see it alot in some coffe shops here. Before adding the hot water, it's kinda like a Shot of real strong coffee.
      But with adding more hot water and some places, they add milk and make some fancy art our what you call it on it. To make it more, yeah. Drinkable for the ones whom enjoy drinking their coffee slow.

      Andres Bello because it’s the only way to appreciate a good coffee, a real “connoisseur” would never dilute an espresso like that. If you like the americano it’s a nonsense to make all this effort for it because you will never taste the beauty of the coffee bean. Just make a classic americano, do not kill a fabolus espresso, that’s the sense. It’s like pouring mustard on a perfect t-bone, why? You will never taste the flavor of the meat

    That was awesome, I’ve been thinking about what kind of espresso maker to get , you convinced me to get this one . Small story , I lived on Kauai for 30 years and the first few years I spent a lot of time in the valley of Hanakopiai mid 70s . There is coffee growing back there and some of us picked the red beans , dried them down at the beach and roasted them in a cast iron skillet. Then ground them between two flat rocks , that was some good coffee . I was stationed in Yokosuka on the aircraft carrier USS Midway just before I got to Kauai. Just small story. Great video thanks

    • @portapipe
      @portapipe Před 4 lety +1

      @@panjianjanis8885 Nothing's wrong with americano, but It's a different way to prepare it. Americano is not an espresso with lots of water, an espresso is made in several ways but the guy here make one of the most complex yet right way to do it. The taste is the flavor, the smell, the density, the heat, the cream above (or not, this depends on the preparation process and the coffee type too). We (italians) prepare the coffe in hundreds of ways (and we put different stuff in it like super-alcoholics, milk, powders, sugar) but If you make a video like this is to make the "perfect" coffee, so no sugar, no additions and no extra water: just pure coffee. You can achieve similar results with "Caffettiera Napoletana", a gravity moka-like old way to make coffee. Hope this answer you doubts!

    • @noneavailable760

      Espresso is way too strong for a lot of people who like coffee, so it wouldn't be enjoyable. Americano has the flavor profile of an espresso (different from filter coffee) but a lot milder.
      It's not very different to using espresso for a latte, instead of milk + normal coffee.

    • @GiovanniFedele
      @GiovanniFedele Před 5 lety +1

      That's for a reason.
      Instant coffee makers, and espresso makers, were actually invented and improved in Italy by Italians.
      Espresso is 30 milliliters, "restricted" coffee is a bit less and "long" coffee is something more (like 40 millimeter, not like half a liter).
      Roasting, pressing and grinding and using a strange machine for making the perfect espresso, then adding water, is totally unacceptable if you want to still call it "espresso".
      P.s.
      Even the coffee grinder that he use at minute 5 is an Italian product, look at the writing on the left "Mazzeri Luigi S.r.l." 😎

Next thing Im getting is a bialetti moka, really liked the taste when I was in Italy.
    edit: Oh and btw for all the people complaining about the way he drinks his coffee: The video is not titled "how to make an original italian coffee". So keep that in mind. He's showing the process from roasting to the finished product perfectly and demonstrates the machine nicely. The top voted comments are really toxic in here. Tips: Add rigidity to the machine by using the screw/bolt that comes with it to fasten the handle mechanism to the base. I use the filter with the bigger openings at the top, smaller under. Also, hot water from the pre-heat into my cup/shot-glass to preheat the cup while i'm prepping the rest of it. Right before you pull the shot, empty the cup. I also assemble on the flair instead of moving it with the hot water, less chance to have a mess.
