- arcadeheroes.c... - 2023 was a very solid year for the arcade business, as evidenced by the many new games released during the year. While the average number of releases is around 25/yr, this past year saw 53 releases between North America & Europe - more if you throw in Asia.
No, its nowhere near as many games as PC/console/mobile gets, but it takes a lot more work to make both the software and the game cabinet. Here are all of the games released to North America/Europe which are pay-to-play i.e. coin-operated or card swipe and come in their own cabinet. #arcade #gaming #pinball

There were fewer videmption-only games released in 2023, while we saw an uptick in new model and limited releases.

A lot of lightgun-style shooters and racers ... at least eXa brings a little variety with all its 2D games.

man i wish my local arcade get some new machines already. its just ticket machines and ticket slits and the same stuff for YEARS.

Something like a new Sega Virtual On game would be great. Or even a new Sega Derby Owners Club. Remember those?
Market demand determines which kind of games are made and unfortunately, that has long been the realm of gun & driving. I agree it would be great to see more but the only way for that to happen is for other types of games to start earning better over the course of time. Joystick games don't offer that "wow" factor you can get from something with steering wheel or unique gun controller so no matter what the game is, they stuggle. Also see Minecraft Dungeons Arcade's lackluster performance.
@@arcadeheroes_coinop - Thank you for the response. What is your opinion on Fight Simulator games with a Flight Stick and throttle? Remember those old Sega After Burner cabinets?
What if Sega or Raw Thrills made a modern "Top Gun" Arcade fighter game with a flight stick, throttle, and motion arcade cabinet. Would that be interesting to customers? Would it be something you would purchase for your arcade business?

They will be adding a new level & cards this year, probably in the Spring...but not sure which yet ;)
