Dallara SP1 LMP900 Prototype w/ 11,000rpm Judd V10 Engine Sound at Monza Circuit!

- Enjoy the sound of this Dallara SP1 LMP900 prototype driven by James Cottingham during the 2020 Monza Historic by Peter Auto, in the Endurance Racing Legends championship!
In 2001 Dallara designed a new car to compete in the LMP900 class. Chrysler approached Dallara and made a deal according to which Chrysler would use the new SP1 as a platform for their winning return to Le Mans. The first 3 chassis were powered by a 6.0L Mopar V8 engine with around 590 hp. To run the cars, Chrysler asked help to the specialists of Team Oreca, already known for their work on the Vipers. But being not able to win the 2001 24h of Le Mans, despite a 4th place in the overall standings, Chrysler pulled out from the project.
Thanks to Team Oreca, the Dallara SP1 project continued as a privateer and the first change made was to set a deal with Judd and use their 4.0-liter GV4 V10 engines.
The SP1 shown in this video is chassis DO-004 and it was built in 2002, finishing fifth at the Le Mans 24h behind Audi and Bentley. The GV4 was able to produce 700hp at 10,500 rpm and a max torque of 508 Nm at 8,500 rpm.

One of the best classes . lmp900 the Audi, BMW v12, Bentley speed 8 .the sounds and shapes of the older cars in every motorsport will be greatly missed. Nice vid as always.

Great days in both Endurance Racing and F1! Loved the early 2000’s in terms of racing
And this is nothing compared to the other early 2000s machines. Audi during that time was the dominating brand and it only lost to Bentley in 2,003. Group C cars are better looking but they would loose to this lightweight machines.

I watched this at 360p (auto res) but the fact that this is an early 2000s prototype racer with a PS2/Gran Turismo livery in it only make the video feels even more "authentic".. if you know what I mean😁

There's been some amazing cars featuring the Gran Turismo logo that have never been in any of the games. Unfortunately this is one of them.
The red and blue car was Audi R8 (PlayStation Team Oreca) '05 and has debuted in Gran Turismo (PSP),ironically this car was sponsored by Gran Turismo 4
And yes,I remember very well the Pescarolo Sport cars 😊

Judds and their sounds are no joke. Phoenomenal, I became aware of these engines due to Georg Plaza. I used to think he designed his exhaust to make his machines sound that way lol.. RIP Plaza
I understand how aerodynamic downforce works, but I'm still always astounded by the cornering speed of these prototype race cars.

Actually this is an uprated Judd F1 engine (1994 Yamaha V10), just like that 5:12 Dallara built Ferrari 333 SP´s V12 is derived from their 1990 F1 engine...

I actually saw a video of the 2,002 endurance racing and I saw this exact same machine with the exact same livery.

i like how fast the lmp cars are nowadays but i also miss these brutal sounds
I would honestly trade speed for sound, especially with how crap the standard of racing has gotten these days as opposed to how good it used to be. Kids trackside nowadays won't see V8/V10/V12's screaming side by side for position as drivers jostle all the way down a straight they'll hear "Whurrrrrrrr *whistle* whurrrrrrrrr" like how flipping depressing :'( If you can't feel your organs rattle when the cars go by, it isn't racing for me sorry. But great content as always Bozzy!!

@@hasangenc2922 honestly! This is why FIA Formula 3 (GP3 basically) and EuroFormula Open are my favourite junior single seater categories to watch because they’re fast and sound good! Also why I prefer LMP2, IndyCar, Super Formula, GTE racing to F1 because the racing is better, cars sound better, and it’s more about driver performance.

It surprised me that whatever the exotic material the brake discs are made of isn't slotted in some matter.
Is this one of the old Pescarolo cars?
Many teams running historic cars tune down the engine RPMs to preserve it (it's easy to understand why), but this one looks like its running in full RPM range.
Judd still builds their V10, so its only the cost of a new engine if you blow it up, its not like some where spare engines are not available.
