Hello does the 5efe engine uses lifters or shims?
*L I K E !!!* Presente en las clases de Peter Finn, son excelente, saludos desde Sonora México 👍🎆🔧🔨🔩
👍😊
Excellent information Peter! After we put the new valve lifters, we must check again the valve clearance!!
Yes we do
Thank you Peter Finn!
Thank You Sir. 😀👍

Excellent video.
Glad you liked it!👍👍👍
thanks a lot, i did not know where the "knock sound" really comes from
Thanks and noted 👍
Thanks Borrat!
Welcome!
It be good to hear what the sound of the noise as a reference.
👍
I just did this, on my engine, the tapping sounds like it is coming from the exhaust side, on the 4th cylinder.(A video is on my channel) the tapping only happens when it is warmed up.
👍
My car too...
Did you change thicker valve lifters??
Did the sound go away?
We’re you able to figure out a solution @snutmeez
How do I check them on the engine with the feeler gauge. Head was redone and I think headshop mixed lifter buckets up. This engine never had this issue until the head shop touched it
Good 👍
On a 3vze motor, With new loaded heads, should I get lifter noise? Or more likely a wrist pin?
Thanks for comment 👍😀
my toyota is making lifter noise at 220k but this is an insane desighn. you have to remove the camshafts and journals to get to the lifters. no owner is going to go tru this himself
Yes
I got nothing from it but thanks for trying.
Thanks and noted 👍😀
Hello , the valve clearance its needed only to change the tappers and thats it ?
Yes
Don't these bucket shims wear out? The numbers printed on them are still valid even after 150,000 miles?
Good comment 👍
Is there a way to know before you install the camshafts?
Noted
How can you accurately measure the used valve bucket? The inner stud seems to wear and creates a ring around it and you can feel it with your finger nail.
Noted 👍
What is the Standard valve clearance for this engine?
IN and EX
I have read your message, Thank you 😀👍
Hello Peter F., I have a Corona Exsior (Philippines Corona model-'97), I want to replace my exhaust valve lifter (thickness measurements-done), but I noticed that the diameter and lenth of the intake and exhaust are different....does this have a "significance"?...per Toyota Exhaust Valve length= 98.45mm, Intake Valve legth= 97.6mm while their diameter are almost the same .....can kindly comment please....?thank you.....
Sorry, no
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor ....."No".....no significance?....thank you...
I hear knocking noise when shifting gear from P to D or from D to R. What is the main cause of this knocking noise in my svx20, 2.2L toyota camry.
Maybe connection rod bearings
Do you happen know what could indicate the knocking sound in engine on higher speeds? Till 30-35 mi/h the car runs very quietly. It is 2003 Chevy Cavalier. The knocking sound starts ~ 40 mi/h, increases to maximum at ~55 mi/h, then goes a bit down.
Maybe bearing failure in Connection rods
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor Thank you for the replay. Whatever upsetting to know it, I'm afraid you nailed it, Peter. Please could you tell what is the approximate cost to replace those Connecting Rods, and should you replace all of them or just those which failed? Thank you again.
Remark: I always, always changed the oil in that car fm the time I bought it, mostly at Dealer where I bought, though sometimes and in other shops. I think not always those changes were done properly, and sometimes not done at all. I'm happy I've learned to change oil myself, though quite recently, and it is late for Chevy already.
i was cleaning my cylinder head and the valve lifter fell off the top.. is there a quick way for me to figure out which coils they go on?
Hi This thing is a bit bigger now, you have to fit the parts in place and then measure the valve clearance. If there is an incorrect clearance, then you have to replace the parts even back. Like a puzzle. Another option is to buy new larger or smaller clearance pieces from a Toyota dealer. Do the work calmly, and the engine will not break down. 👍
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor How should I know that if I need thicker or thiner?
How do you know which valve lifter goes Where? We took off the camshaft and forgot to label the lifter. How would I know which lifter goes where?
Ok, now you got an Error...
But put the parts in place and then measure the valve clearance. You may even have to buy new valves. And the engine can now be louder when the valves are messed up. 👍
One question sir... if I were remove the valve lifter and it's all jumble up... how would I know which goes where would you kindly help by giving the number procedure... really need your help sir .
You must use Sharpie pen and mark Lifters by 1,2,3.... 16
Sorry sir
But that's the thing already jumble them how would I know which to where now?
I have this same issue..they are all mixed together..how do i know where they are supposed to be?
I currently have a 2013 Corolla and has this exact noise…. How long can I drive it like this???
About 20 000 km
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor What is going to fail after 20000 has been driven? Thanks.
Two of my lifters seem to have the top outer portion worn.
Ok
What model and engine is this?
Toyota 1.8 VVT-i gasoline
sir may toyota corolla gli 1.6 is nkocking like this😌
Hope so
I thought the VVT-i eliminated the valve shem and bucket adjustment?
Nope they just made them harder to replace so now you have to pull the cams vs buying the shim removal tool and thicker shim once those points are beat down on the insides/bottoms.
