Also after Cecile the Lion's killing.
CaptainGrumpy Letterman's retirement
It’s ok Jimmy. I’m crying too. Shalom and RIP Mr Don Rickles.
Even though he's been dead for 2 years now
I still have respect for mr. rickles
May He Rest In Piece.
Rest In Peace
May he roast in peace
He's gone but the Don Rickles spirit will live on forever.
Peace*
Peace or pieces... anyways Don was one of the funniest people that I know. I got to know him recently and I quickly liked his old clips
I love how Jimmy Kimmel shows genuine emotion when talking about someone's death or a tragic event. He's truly a great soul.
😂
Beautiful heartfelt tribute from one friend to another.
It's good & it's healthy to let your REAL feelings of pain and loss be felt.
Great tribute. Don was truly a KING of comedy. one of the greatest ever.
He made me cry
When someone dies at 90 and the tears and the tributes flow like they did with Kimmel, you know someone extraordinary has been lost.
nj13 etc. So you think I'm naive for believing the emotion Kimmel showed relative to the loss of his friend was real? Well, it was very clearly real. It's been well known for years they were great friends. And unfortunately, you're too cynical for your own good. Either you are unable to recognize true emotion or you refuse to.
So much emotion in his voice. I don't know much about the guy but he must have been very loved.
Christian Schoff You should take the time to look him up Don was a legend and one of a kind.
He was the voice for Mr. Potato Head in all 3 Toy Stories :)
well his jokes wont cut it today though with all the sjw
+Scupacium I'm pretty sure Don Rickles was the kind of comedian who didn't give a damn about SJW. The problem with many of today's comedians is that they care too much about public opinion
you must watch him making fun of huge celebs in the 70's and laughing their ass off.
That's probably the most sincere anyone in hollywood ever got about someone passing away.
Truly heartfelt and honest.
One of the most honest, non-show business tributes ever. Jimmy's grief over and love felt for his dear friend is so strong, I don't know how one can watch this and not shed a tear or two themselves. Emotional, real and simply beautiful.
A legend get you crying and laughing at the same time. R.I.P Don
I think he'd be honored by both the laughter and the tears.
Yeah... How absolutely hypocritical. Jimmy Kimmel a far left winger giving tribute to a comedian that would be considered by society today as a *RACIST, SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT!!!*
Don Rickles he will be missed R.I.P
But commas will be missed though... R.I.P Punctuation
Casper Skibby Omg 😂😂
Susan Jones Don would haved turned 91 11 days ago
I am a young ARAB MUSLIM from a Northern African Country called Mauritania.
Mr.Don Rickles has made a huge impact on the way i see things in this world, i think he was the funniest man on this planet ever.
Thanks Mr.Warmth for lightning me into seeing that our judgement of people should never be based on their religion or background .
Love Love
Nothing but respect LEGEND
Alden Buyer thank you, actually I came across Don through his relationship with Frank Sinatra.
Believe or not Frank is my favorite artist.
That is pretty cool. I'm sure you know this but Don (& Sinatra) were actually VERY early proponents of rights for other races and religions in America. He was very supportive and open to all groups of people.
beefknuckles the one thing i liked the most about him was that he picked on everybody, and that’s the most concrete way of decreasing distances in between races,religions....etc and appealing THE HUMAN SIDE.
@@elghoutoubyahi920 me too. Am 23 Yo/ from northeast India a ingenious people one day I accidentally click Don Rickles roast Clint Eastwood in 2017 from then on I'd been watching all Don video mostly Dean Martin roast.
Edit: the place where I came from like 20% of the populace see the world the rest 70% still living as old as our ancestors. Back in the 1880's the British know and recognize our people as Naga a head Hunter's, Anyway cheers I'd enjoy reading your comment.
Omg a fellow Mauritanian who knows Don rickles
This was HILARIOUS! I am 50 years old. When I was 17 I'm walking with a friend down Hollywood Blvd in FRONT of the Merv Griffin Show Theater. A guy is out front passing out tickets FREE and asked us if we wanted to come in. Don Rickles was the guest. We go in, we are the ONLY TWO BLACK PEOPLE in the audience. (Well you know what that means, lol)
Don comes out and is doing his stand up and people are going wild laughing. We were enjoying it but WE ARE 17 and we actually NEVER BEEN TO A TV TAPING so we WERE a bit nervous being there. At one point Don tells a joke, the audience rolls, then he stops with a serious look and says; "Look at the two Black guys sitting there, barely moving, looking at me like they want to rip my head off. Yeah, I know, I know, they got you in here by telling you RED FOXX was going to be performing and now you're really pissed cause I ain't Red Foxx!" The audience rolls! " Look at them staring, (he clutches his heart) Move over Elizabeth, I'M COMING TO JOIN YOU TO RIGHT AFTER THIS SEGMENT!"
And for the REST of the night we were the brunt (IN A VERY GOOD WAY) of all his jokes. Been a huge fan every since. He touched MANY people.
RIP
This was a great tribute.
How I wish society today was as thick skinned as in your time
Man, what an honor!
Hang in there brother - I am 50 now .. so you're two years older. Stay healthy and keep on having a fun. My best to you from California!
That is a great story!
Is this taping still around anyplace?
It's so rare to see such transparency and raw emotion like this anymore. He truly lost a family member. 😢 I can't believe people are heartless enough to dislike this video!
THE Jessica Why do people care so much about likes/dislikes on yt?
they crave attention, only thing I can think of.
THE Jessica spot on!
Miko Philo because it's just disrespectful. if it were an opinion video, the like/dislike ratio wouldn't matter but this was about a beloved man that passed and was being remembered by a good friend... disliking either means they are heartless or just assholes.
THE Jessica ii
Beautifully done man, never feel embarrassed showing emotion Jimmy, shows how genuine you really are.
chump
Bakerxderek bro , this is like the 2nd or 3rd video Ive seen you in the comment section
This is the most heartfelt Don Rickles tribute I've seen... made me cry😢
To be perfectly honest, I've never been a Jimmy Kimmel fan. Something about his brand of comedy always put me off. But watching this video, my heart went out to him. His eulogy to Don Rickles is the saddest, sweetest thing I've watched in a long time. It says a lot about the latter that he would be remembered by the former with such kindness.
Thank you for sharing this moment of vulnerability. I know you miss your friend, and I hope each day is a little easier for you.
All the best to you, Mr. Kimmel.
Marcel Walker I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm not the biggest fan of Jimmy but you can tell how much respect and appreciation he had for Don. It was a very nice tribute.
Marcel Walker Same here man. Never been a fan of Kimmel, but this tribute is one of the most geniune tributes. Made me respect Kimmel more. And I'm pretty sure a lotta people feel that way, n in that sense, this was probably Don's last note to him. “Keep my name alive”
Could not agree more with you. Well said
Well said.
Jimmy was busted up when a cast member passed on, and another time when "The Man Show" was ending; he was saying bye to his co-host Adam Carolla. Jimmy wears his heart on his sleeve and you always know what he is about.
"Frank, will you pass the ketchup?" Classic.
Thanks Jimmy. Don was, truly, a treasure. A real, honest to goodness American original. The great era of Las Vegas is now truly over and the real fans will miss it. R.I.P. Don.
Guy Fawkes He was Jewish ^_^
Whats that supposed to mean?
Guy Fawkes aaahhhhh he was a jerk
The second he said “Don Rickles passed away” I started balling and crying😢😢that’s how much he changed my life
I am 46 years old, and Johnny Carson and Don Rickles have always reminded my of my father's era... an era that is near the end. So dad.... RIP.
I agree...I am 47 and loved Johnny, Don and Frank.
Thanks! Now I'm sad jerk lol
An era that was racist
Hiro The Hero you piece of crap
Hiro The Hero eras aren’t racist. Individuals are.
Oh my, when Jimmy stops for a moment because he can't talk - if I was in the audience I would just get up and hug him! Had the honor of being in the audience once and had a brief chat with Jimmy - amazing man! Go bless you, Kimmel
Larrysbride What a nice comment man
Jimmy crying really gets to me 😢 Hope you're doing okay, Jimmy
Jimmy we are all crying. Thanks for standing up for greatness.
This is how you pay respect to a legend. No pretence, just love. (sob)
It's ok for men to cry. Screw those disliked the video.
For the right reasons - and Rickles death is reason to cry.
You're a troll, aren't you?
Steven Beaulieu I don't understand why ppl would dislike something like this.
I don't get it...it's normal to be sad when someone close to you dies.
Steven Beaulieu agree with you 100% people have lost the essence of family and friendship.
I only discovered Rickles on youtube when I was 17... 2 years ago. But I remember the first time I saw him in digital form. I was watching the Dean Martin roasts. And this shorter balding man slapped Dean Martin, heckled these legends up on stage with him. And not only did he get away with it, he had everyone crying with laughter, including me. I was in love with this mans character right away. The next few weeks I would watch every single roast with Don RIckles including his standup. I'm tearing up, because I never knew this man. But his true warmth and powerful presence was felt even in a teenager living in the other side of the world. I always wished I was older, had more money, just so I could see him perform live, or even talk with him... R.I.P Mr. Warmth / the best insult comedian there have ever been! :'(
Jimmy Lehtimäki I'm from the UK and I too discovered Don Rickles through the Dean Martin Roasts, and also through videos of Deans Variety Shows of the 1960s. Did you see the wonderful exchange between Dean and Don on the Bob Hope roast? "You haven't reached that year yet!" "Thank you, Jerry!" Absolutely hilarious 😆 ( of course you have to know about the long-term feud between Dean and Jerry Lewis after they split up their act in 1956 to understand the joke, which as you are still only a teenager, you may not have heard of)
I do remember that. I did also know about Dean and Lewis split up. Like I said I've watched a lot of Rickles, and Dean Martin programs. Love how television was back then. Just pure nostalgic beauty . :)
Same bro, i am 24 now and i saw his stuff for the first time around 2011/2012. And even tough i didn't grow up in the 50's/60's i always liked this man, he is what i always imagined how a comedian should be like.
Just being yourself and not trying too hard.
I never knew a grandfather but when Don Rickles died I felt as if I lost 2 grandfathers. You can cry Jimmy...we are crying too.
I’ve watched this so many times Jimmy it gets me every time, I loved Don and it’s painfully obvious you did too. Not too many men drop there guard to show how much they really care about someone Jimmy so I take my hat off to you. I’m from Glasgow in Scotland and I only wish I’d gut to see Don in the flesh. God bless 👍🏻😄
R.I.P to a legend 👏🙏
rest in peace mr. potato head
Donald Haiber jr mr. potato head was how i first heard of him & thats how im always gonna remember him :'( r.i.p. don
Who in their right mind would dislike this?
Daniel Llewellyn hu
Apparently 334 people did
Hockey pucks.
Daniel Llewellyn It's sad. This man is pouring his heart out and people just want to be negative.
Lynrdskynyrd
You can't fake that. Heartfelt. Had me in tears.
I always dreaded the day when Don would pass, and when it happened, it was even worse than I expected it to be. Felt like I lost my grandfather all over again. RIP Don. I will miss you forever.
OK!!! This was an emotional rollercoaster.. RIP Don Rickles...Stay strong Jimmy.
Condolences to his family.
Pure Hearted Jimmy, You made me cry with you buddy, RIP D. Rickles.
Ah, don't make me cry, Jimmy. Rest in Peace, Don Rickles. There won't be anyone else like you.
That's how you celebrate a Legend. RIP Mr.Rickles
This is one of the reasons I love Kimmel so much. What a beautiful heartfelt tribute.
his crying is affected, for the ratings
He’s a crybaby
Kevin Van Vooren so you say thats not a reason to cry, then what is a reason to cry if not the passing of a loved one?
@@westerling8436 i rewatched this because i know his crying gives right wing nutjobs a thrill but as a longtime viewer of his show, i know that jimmy loved rickles as thoroughly as i loathe them...and you, westerling.
Poor Jimmy you can tell how much he loved him. RIP to a legend.
It's great to see Jimmy light up, after being sad, when he starts talking about the great memories he has of Don..
R.I.P Mr. Potato Head :'(
Toy Story was a big part of my childhood.
StriderCX potato head was i first heard of him & thats how ill always remember him :'(
I'm English and never heard of don rickles. However, the guy sounds like an absolute legend and from what I gather he'll be missed by millions!! R.I.P don and huge respect to jimmy for this!! This got me teared up
You really need to Google and look up his appearances on Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, take a look. You do not need to be an American to enjoy his style of comedy, which was brutal but funny. He would be rude to you, but you knew it was a joke and he actually had a warm heart. Thank you.
Being English isn't just like an excuse on its own xD I'm Irish and I loved Don.
John King I can't believe I've never heard of him up until now! Just looked at some of his best moments and it's honestly comedy gold. He's in a better place now and the heavens have just gained another angel. His legacy will live on and inspire others for many generations!! R.I.P
Tom, he did go and watch them.
have you seen any of the toy story movies?
My uncle passed away few days ago so this emotional Jimmy Kimmel helps somehow. Its like us two friends sharing laughs and tears.
2 years later & this video has me in tears.
Wiggysan Wiggysan yeah still till this day after 3 years now. And now Jimmy Kimmel is crying and very emotional again on live TV with the recent passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and 7 other lives that were lost 2 days ago in Calabasas.
"The one and only" is an overused expression but not in the case of Don Rickles.
RIP Don.
Godspeed Jimmy Kimmel, your a damn good man.
Jimmy was the first person I thought of when I heard the news. Beautiful tribute to a legend. One of the few people you would be honored to have berate & insult you. RIP Mr. Warmth
I am 50 years old and been watching Don since 5.....I didn't know he died...so I am very sad today. Class act Jimmy...you did right by him.
It,s been 4 years when we lost you Don😢
Jimmy Kimmel is making me cry so much right now 😭
That was beautiful Jimmy. You earned my sub man.
Also Jimmy Falon is terrible.
Um ok
Zaphyra Don't act like Fallon isn't terrible.
Jimmy doesn't care about the CZcams channel.
So glad I grew up in the era of Don Rickles. Nothing today comes close to the level of comedy and camaraderie of Rickles, Carson, Martin, Lewis, Sinatra, Hope, Davis, et al.
VariedVids I watched the friars roast of rickles and couldn't stop laughing ! I'm so much more into this comedy than anything modern lately
VariedVids sounds like your old.
I was born in the late 80s, I missed the amazing era, but I have all the Dean Martin Roasts, so I didn't miss out on all the good before my time. Don Rickles was the man.
What about bill burr
that was golden era,,,,now people get offended too easily,,,,,,,
Jimmy loved Don, as we all did. There is no shame is crying for loved ones. NONE.
When Jimmy started crying my heart melted. You can tell that for the most comedians, Rickles was a living legend, and surely by knowing him personally, the bond was strong as hell.
R.I.P to Don Rickles. He was a great funny actor. Best times with Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin. Those good old days when Don Rickles used to see Frank get boozed drinking all the time. But yeah. R.I.P. That guys Don is a legend.
Anthony Castillo dude......comedian. He was a comedian. Acted on the side, but he was a comedian.

Howard Hoover what does a mean? What r u saying because that letter a u wrote doesn't make any sense. Where r u going with this?
The night of this show I cried like a baby, my heart broke for Jimmy bc I know how much Don Rickles meant to him! The death of someone we love is just more than we can bare, initially, sometimes. RIP Don, you gave so much joy and laughter to SO MANY OF US! You're truly an angel! GODSPEED
Touching tribute to a legend.
I love Jimmy. He's very sensitive and very warming. I remember I was in Hollywood and I was crying and I was going through a lot of depression and anxiety and I went up to him and said I'm really depressed can I please talk to you. He said to me "what's wrong" he could tell I'm harmless that I just needed someone to talk to. I told him "I feel worthless I love comedy but, people don't understand me" he said "a lot of people don't. I didn't understand Sarah" (Sarah Silverman" he hugged me and said "you'll be okay." "Let's stay connected on Twitter" till this day he has made my life so much better. I love you Jimmy you have such a big heart!
Elegant_Projects oh ya, me too!
Wow. Amazing Story!
I love Jimmy too - the fact he can stand there and speak with such sensitivities about Don Rickles makes you realize he is a wonderful man! Thank you Jimmy - I too miss Don Rickles!
I hope no one with half a brain believes this story
Elegant_Projects Thank you for sharing that wonderful story. It gives me hope for mankind.
God bless Don Rickles RIP Johnny Carson, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are all having a drink together for the first time in a long time
Matthew Rottler That's a lovely thought...
Johnny stopped boozin 😂😂😂
Don Rickles: the only comedian who ever died only once
Don never died. He has just gone to a better place
Someone gave him a cookie and he went away
God I miss Don Rickles, he was so so so funny but warm---we will never see the likes of his kind of humor again. RIP Don!
Watch this with tears.
I have to say.. this is the best tribute I have ever seen.
RIP Don.
That was the most heartfelt tribute on a talk show, I've ever seen. Almost teared up myself.
Almost ? Come on, cry it out! In general
@@kwinslow8563 Well, it takes a lot for me to shed a tear sometimes.
Till the end of his life..he was sharp minded, I wish to grow old like this.
he was such a great comic that people tend to forget his dramatic film work was top notch too.
At least now he can make Frank laugh again in heaven ❤️. RIP Mr. Warmth
There will never be another Don. Never R.I.P. Sir. Laugh Until You Cry....
We lost a great.
I was deeply moved by his tribute and the emotion he displayed was enough to make anyone sob. There is nothing any of us can do after losing a legend like Don Rickles, nothing besides wish that life didn't have to come around to death, especially for someone as amazing as him. The greatest comedian to ever live. He will be missed.
Respect to Jimmy for being strong enough to stand there and talk about Don. You can see how hard it was to at times. Such a loss to the world and to comedy.
Jimmy Kimmel is truly the best thing to happen to late night TV since Letterman.
When Jimmy Kimmel started crying 😭, & what a beautiful tribute. ❤
Dons letters to jimmy are classic
Well done Jimmy! Don Rickles was a great comedian and even better man. He will be missed but never forgotten!
Jimmy, there was absolutely no need for you to apologize through parts of your monologue, no need to say sorry for being emotional. It was real. It was you. Some of us even cried with you. We felt your pain, we felt your loss. We all feel it too. Thank you for the stories, thank you for sharing with us.
I love seeing this sensitive side of Jimmy, it helps when you are in grief too. We come here to laugh, but it's okay to come here to shed a few tears here too. Especially for Don.
This is a beautiful tribute, and makes Jimmy even more human than ever. Very humbling. I read somewhere, either a book, or a Time Magazine, or Rolling Stone article this quote: "Everyone wants to be David Letterman's friend. But he keeps a bit of barrier between his self, celebrity, fans and friendship. But with Jimmy Kimmel, you KNOW you are his friend. He is Everyman. (sic)" Thank you Jimmy, for your loving, kind words. And tears. We feel the same way about The late Mr Warmth, Don Rickles.
When I heard don rickles passed I immediately thought of jimmy. RIP

wow....never seen jimmy so genuine...touching. You can see the love he had for his friend Don....r.i.p. don.
That choked me up, i remember when i was a kid watching don rickles w my dad
damn you Jimmy, I was not expecting to cry tonight!
So heartfelt that it's hard to watch without tearing up. Well done Jimmy, you could tell it took every ounce of his strength to get through that
I keep coming back to watch this for the last 5 years and look forward to “Frank would you pass the ketchup” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the reasons I love Jimmy Kimmel so much is because of how genuine he always is. Very touching to see him break down a little
gilbert martinez he was also very good friends with the man and he was one of is Idols. Of course Jimmy would get emotional.
Jimmy has cried like this for other people he loved, e.g., his Uncle Frank who was a regular on the show. Nice to see someone being real.
Don Rickles was my favorite comedian of all-time!!! God rest his soul...
Thanks, Don, for making it to 90, invoking pure belly-laughter out of ALL of us till the end..The world is a sadder place without you...
I've never been a Jimmy Kimmel fan but this was a fitting tribute to Don and I really empathized with Jimmy.
Jimmy has a big heart. I cried along with him when his uncle Frank passed away and here again. You will have their blessings buddy. Stay strong.
When I suffer depression I normally go on a binge on Conan, Stephen fry, Rodney Dangerfield and Don Rickles. He's not exactly a big name over here in the uk but I've kept up with American late night chat shows for a decade or so and I'm glad I found Don. Thanks for making me laugh and forget my problems for a while. The best thing is I know I haven't seen all your work so there's more for me to enjoy. Rest easy ya hockey puck!
Jimmy - love that you can cry like a real man. Making me cry too 😇
I lived and worked in Las Vegas for six years and was going to a movie one night with my wife. Mr. Rickles was in the concession line right in front of me getting popcorn for his wife and himself. Very nice man. He leaves a vacuum that will never be filled. May he rest in peace.
Ron Devon i was hoping you would come forward and tell your story
The best Rickles story was told by Sinatra himself on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson many moons ago. Don was eating at a restaurant with a girl and spotted Sinatra at another table. Don went over to Sinatra and asked him to wait a while and come over to Don's table to say hi so the girl would be impressed that her date knows Frank Sinatra. So when Frank approached Don and his date at their table and was gonna say hi, Rickles replied : " NOT NOW FRANK, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M EATING!" That to me was the greatest Don story ever. I know I'm only 30, but Don Rickles is my favorite comedian, and I'm greatfull CZcams has so many of his performances for us to watch. Maybe I got couple of details wrong on the story above, I apologize if I did. R.I.P. Don Rickles.
Now that's what you call a proper send off. Great Tribute. I immediately thought of Jimmy Kimmel when I heard Don't Rickles had passed.
I have a lot more respect for Jimmy Kimmel now.
RIP Sir Rickles...a great human
This really showed how much Jimmy loved the late/great Don Rickles and it touched my heart. God bless Jimmy and the Rickles family. Just can't imagine late night TV without Don....he's already missed 💔
Wow! Jimmy Kimmel gives THE BEST remembrances! I'm crying with him! Love Don Rickles! ;)
Rip to a absolutely legend. Don is the last of his kind the last of his era. I only thank god i got to see him perform.
Navy veteran of WWII. Submarine crew. Anchors Away.
lLLLLLL
The reverence that Jimmy has for his heroes, family, and friends is pretty neat. Being that vulnerable and respectful of those who've influenced him throughout this life makes me respect them on a different level than I already did. Thanks, Jimmy. You're a class act.
