thanks for giving our melonberry smoothing gel a new try! as you witnessed, not overusing this product creates 0 flaking as it's a thinner consistency and lighter formula to provide a weightless finish. we do not duplicate customer profiles and we formulate to solve a problem in the market for a specific customer with each collection. for finer textures, their looking for volume (over length). in general with melonberry smoothing gel, use less gel and more hair milk (or any leave in of your choice). for baomint gel *specifically*, use MORE product on sopping wet (tighter textures) or damp hair for more definition. this collection was created to define even the tightest textures so the viscosity of the product is greater, which causes the elongation you see. this gel is concentrated and needs to be emulsified in your hands and worked into hair and it does NOT flake at all. it will curdle if the 2 prior points are not done which is what you stated you witnessed when you first applied it to your hand. our founder is a former cosmetologist and uses her experience to formulate, so our products are professionally made. we appreciate the work Black creators do so we have a little gift coming your way! please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, we're helpful and easy to talk to! we hope you have a blessed day!

Hey Katrina! Both sides look pretty. I’m still not interested in that Melonberry gel, though. I LOVE the Baomint line. I know that they changed their Baomint Shampoo formulation. Years ago, their Baomint “Moisturizing” Shampoo was so darn clarifying. Now it’s actually moisturizing. Btw, my HH Cosmetics order is scheduled to arrive Monday. I’ll keep you posted on how it works out. You look great🥰💜.

hi Danielle! thanks for being a long time adwoa beauty customer! we haven't changed any of our formulas since inception. years ago we were a new, baby brand and now we've grown, as we continue to scale our company, we look at all ways to improve operations and efficacy. we can update suppliers and raw ingredient quality which all impact efficacy -- without changing formulas - as we've had to do during the pandemic. it's important to us that unsubstantiated and misinformation isn't put on the internet so we are steadfast about controlling all of our narratives. we are a transparent brand (from day 1), so if ever formulas need to change, we won't sneak it in, we'll let our loyal customer know what we did and why. additionally, shampoo is so subjective from texture to texture and different people have different outcomes. hopefully you get to try melonberry smoothing gel 1 day, it's great on denser textures for twist outs and rod sets -- everyone doesn't have to use it for a wash n go. we hope you have a blessed day!

@@adwoabeauty Thanks for the clarification. As long as I’ve been purchasing your products, I’m quite familiar with the consistency, scent, application, results and all that jazz. The bottles of shampoo I used in the past, definitely felt extremely clarifying. The bottle I have in my bathroom is true to its “Moisturizing” name. Yes, hair products in general are definitely subjective. However, the multiple bottles of your Baomint shampoo that I’ve gone through was used on the same person/head of hair. Hence, my comparison is fair. So, hopefully now you can understand why I thought there was a change in the formulation. Thanks!

WOW, I'm shocked at the results!!!! They both look really good. At first I couldn't tell the difference but now I do see a slight difference but not much. I would say that t the The Original styling gel performed a bit better than the newer one. I got the new one simply because it was for fine strands but I have yet to try it, lol Thanks for the review 😊

With the Baomint Gel, it's best to use on dripping, soaking wet hair

hi! I recognize your face from instagram! thanks for commenting with these facts for us. this is particularly true for denser textures like yours but she has curly, fairly medium/fine hair. she can actually achieve great results with how she used it. she just needs to apply more gel. there was a fear of flaking and the unknown so the true baomint results were not achieved. adding more gel would give her better definition on day 1 and as the day goes on, longer lasting results. and more hold.

I think both sides turned out well on your hair! I would be interested in knowing how you felt about them when it is time to shampoo again. Like does your hair still feel moisturized? Still defined? Still flake free?

For me, Baomint looks better on day one. However, as the week goes on with working out and being in the elements, the Baomint blows up and looks puffy over the course of a week. The Melonberry shrinks and looks crazy on the day, but I don't stretch because I need that hold for the next 5-7 days.
