  • NOTE June 2020 - Lidl have a new version of this the PRMA 40-Li A2 sold for £99 without batteries/charger - it looks almost identical, the only difference is control panel now has a LED to show ECO or Auto mode.
    Original video June 2019
    This Parkside Cordless Lawnmower from Lidl looked a bargain for £149 so Harry has tried it out.
    Plus points:
    1. powerful enough for a normal garden and can handle longer grass without slowing down.
    2. Very light and easy to push
    3. Comes with two batteries and dual charger - should be enough for normal gardens
    Negatives:
    1. Grass box is fiddly to clip round wire frame
    2. the plastic flap on grass box doesn't sit neatly, so grass collects under it - I suspect it would work better with this flap just cut off
    3. Adjusting handle height/angle is fiddly as the side clips don't neatly spring open
    Overall for the price this works well, we have a petrol mower and this is much lighter/easier to start and push around, so I think it will be our normal mower, and seems to handle longer grass without slowing/bogging down which was my concern.
    Not sure on run time, it did our small back and front gardens easily in about 20 minutes and battery still showing two bars, I suspect it would run 40mins at least.
    Its nice that you can use these batteries with the other Lidl/Parkside X20 tools - I bought the cordless drill/driver for £20 which can share the batteries - hope they get the strimmer back in stock as would be nice to have the set.

    LOL I was surprised as how great that review was. I thought it will be rubbish seeing young lad doing this but it was very informative and somehow more appealing because he was doing all the stuff. Great!

      To be fair, it was more like "Dad can we make a video for youtube", me "Do you want to mow the grass", Harry: "Yes please, that will be fun" - I'm sure the novelty will wear off pretty quickly!

    NOTE June 2020 - Lidl have a new version of this the PRMA 40-Li A2 dual battery mower selling for £99 without batteries/charger - it looks almost identical to the original A1 (from June 2019), the only difference is control panel now has a LED to show ECO or Auto mode.
    April 2020 Lidl have a 20v/single battery mower for sale which is similar but slightly smaller - so is a different model to one in video.
    June 2019 Orig comment: Just a quick review as couldn't find anywhere when I was looking, the lawnmower works well and is powerful enough for longer grass, and light and easy to push. The grass box is fiddly to assemble and has a plastic flap which doesn't sit neatly so I think would work better if cut off. I've put our petrol mower at the back of the shed, as hoping this will be our normal mower, and nice that Harry (and his Mum) can help with grass cutting as its so light and easy to use.

      The one Aldi is selling now (May 2020) it seems a 37cm version the one in this video but has one battery 20/40V from the ferrex "activ-energy" shared battery line , with the lawnmower the battery is used as 40V 2.5Ah .

    • @jamesb72
      @jamesb72  Před 4 lety +3

      We have a medium size garden, (back garden is about 40ft square, plus 40ft square front garden and verge along outside wall) and took around 30 minutes to cut, and the battery indicator still shows two bars, so I am pretty sure you'd get an hour of cutting. I made a video ages ago cutting grass with old lawnmower - this is the back garden, the front/side is same again. czcams.com/video/gN19h0q9wg0/video.html

    My batteries are fully charged yet I still cant get it started. The locking key is connected next to the batteries on the mower. I press the button and pull back handle at the same time but just keeps making a beeping noise. Any advice please?

    • @jamesb72
      @jamesb72  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Jake, I have the exact same issue with mine very occasionally - only after a couple of months, I found swapping the batteries over and jiggling the mower and it will then start. I got 6 beeps which apparently is a battery connection error (if you have different number of beeps it might be a different issue). I tried it 100 times (literally) using the two big batteries mower came with, as well as two small batteries i have for drill/hedge cutter, and could only get mine to not start with the big batteries 1 in front 2 behind, so if I put them the other way round it works every time. I did contact lidl through resolver website (they ignored emails initially) who offered to replace mower but cannot get any stock, so have given me a letter for refund in store, but I really like the mower and its not failed since I stuck to correct placement so I'm sticking with it. I see Lidl have a 1 battery version in store this week but its a bit narrower, so I will stick with this one for now. Good luck, hope you get it sorted, otherwise its refund only I'm afraid (and I got rid of the petrol mower as I much preferred this one).

      Video is from June 2019 when they sold the mower with batteries/charger for £149, I see June 2020 they are selling an A2 version for £99 with no batteries/charger, so works out roughly the same cost - the dual charger which came with the A1 version was nice though. A2 version is almost identical, only difference i've noticed is the control panel now has LEDs to show ECO/AUTO (I use Auto), where before you just heard the motor speed up/down when you pressed button.

      These are very quiet compared to mowers, a lot quieter than Flymo corded ones. 75decibels is what i found them to be, which is like heavy traffic
