    I know many of us to have similar stories surrounding land because when our families got out of slavery they knew what land was worth, which is why they made a point of purchasing it.

    I see tons of photos of blacks from that Era and they almost always looked classy. I always used to wonder what happened to that. And then you study history in it's entirety and you see how systematic and institutional the racism was, and it becomes clearer. As the gentlemen put it we weren't intended to own, we weren't intended to stay here, We weren't intended to live among them. I'm just glad I'm hearing the conversation happening more and more.

    I’m finding out that my county’s lake was actually owned by my great great grandparents. And there is currently an ownership battle going on between my county and the US Forest Bureaucracy. The bureaucracy was supposed to give the lake back to my county but I think they aren’t able to because my county never actually owned it. And today I actually got the deed from when my great great grandparents lost the land with their name on it. My family has a case we just don’t have a lawyer. Since there is a very high chance that my family lost the land based on them being black I’m thinking about reaching out to the naacp

    • @ethancropp600

      Nothing was stolen, it was bought. This is like selling a property in the past then coming back to see it raised in value and demanding to get paid again current value. Ps 26 families properties were bought at the same time as the bruces through eminent domain, only 6 were black.

    • @fallenbeforefiona9000

      @@ethancropp600 if you say it was bought it definitely was stolen. It's a reaccuring theme. Even our "history" books tell us of legendary sized treaties being broken and land theft. Especially black American owned land. You know buying other people's land doesn't negate the fact that theirs was stolen.

      @@ethancropp600 I would love to see your source on the payment aspect of this $14,000 you speak of. That is a BIC claim and something many others would benefit from knowing. As it stands, they county and the state is admitting that their was no sell but an eminent domain of the properties for use of a local park. If there were a sell, did the county eminent domain the property from the new owner? Just curious how your bit of information connects to what has been legally/historically established.

    • @ethancropp600
      @ethancropp600 Před 2 lety

      @@phanorlasso8225 itslike stealing because the owner doesnt exactly want to sell but the property is bought at current value and the owner is forced to move, this happens whenever stadiums are built or freeways etc. Giving just the bruce family the land back or millions of dollars doesnt make sense, its merely a way to stir up racial tensions because they want us fighting each other instead of together. Imagine selling your house in the 80s and coming back now and demanding to be paid the difference from its value then to now, does that make sense? The bruces werent the only family forced to sell and move at that time, why is there no mention of them? The bruces could have bought different property in Manhattan beach but decided to move elsewhere. Now im all for the government forking out money to people but this is more than that, this is a strategic move to rile people up. Regardless of what happens me, you and everyone commenting are on the same team, "they" just dont want us to know it.
