How to build a baby busy board

  • Keep your baby entertained for a few minutes so you can drink your coffee while it is hot! :)
    I’ve used door bolts, a door stop, a brushed faceplate, a hasp and staple, little blind spot mirrors, cabin hooks, a door chain, a bicycle bell, nylon rope, zipper, bolts with washer, a caster wheel and a few more bits.
    You can really use anything you think your baby might be intrigued by. Just make sure it is safe to touch and remember always supervise your baby when he/she plays with the busy board.
    Like I said in the video I’m not to sure about the light yet, might try to find one a bit less bright.
    This busy board hangs from a door to keep the room free for baby to play in, I recon you have enough toys cluttering the space as it is, without a big busy board in the middle. I used hooks to hang my board as I need something that comes off easily as my studio is being used to shoot my DIY video’s in and I need clean walls and doors. I would suggest screwing yours to the door itself so it is attached securely. Just make sure somebody knocks before opening the door :)

      Hi, glad you liked the build. For the hardware you can just use whatever you have lying around your house and is baby safe. You can always find more details on my builds over on my blog. www.hestershandmadehome.com/hestershandmadehome/busyboard

    I enjoyed this video a lot, because I'm trying to design a busy board...
    With your experience the steel pieces or sharp edges can not hurt the baby hands or head if he's playing alone or 2 siblings are playing beside it?
    Note: 0 years of experience as a father Lol

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, I haven't had any problems with sharp edges as my baby/toddler was pretty gently with the board. If you are worried maybe don't use the hinges as they have sharp corners and just use other chains/zips/buttons/bells instead. Let me know how you get on with the build :D

    What’s the thickness in the plywood?

  • @july4082

    If you stick it to the door, is that safe? And when you open and close the door, is that still safe?🤔

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  Před rokem

      Hi, do you mean its not safe as the door can open? That door we rarely used so she was safe playing there :) You can hang the busy board on the wall too if that would be a concern.
      In the video it shows that the board is detachable so when not in use I would take it off the door but it was very securely attached on hooks at the top and bottom of the board. Hope this answered your questions.

    I feel like some of these wouldn't be safe for babies as they have a
    Parts where a baby can trap their fingers.

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  Před 5 lety +5

      Hi Ruth, thank you for your concern. You can adjust your board to just have items on you think are safe for your child. And always supervise your child when playing with the board. You could make one with just laces and mirrors or maybe even fabric pieces? So much fun stuff you can stick on a board :D

      Just checked, Woodglut has a $67 cost to even look. I think Ill stay with this one.
