      It's Asia time to host, after Europe, Africa, and America continent has their time. But going to Qatar, they wasn't ready. They need build their stadium first. That's why the worker slavery issue came from. Also no need to change the calendar to December. Better going to country with established football grounds like China or Saudi.

    Qatar was selected to host world cup in 2010 so it's obvious Sepp Blatter took good chunk of oil money to grant the WC hosting rights. Qatar has population of only 2.881 million only as in 2020

    FIFA are supposed to be a non profit organisation. Clearly they are not and that's a lie. I first knew FIFA was a corrupt organisation in the 2002 World Cup. The same Chinese ref who officiated the games between Spain v South Korea and Italy v South Korea. Anyone who watched those matches will know what I mean.

    I absolutely love the world cup but i wouldnt be sad if teams decided to boycott it and stand up for the human rights violations and fraud that this world cup was built on,i would actually feel proud if this world cup was cancelled because a few big nations backed out and others followed,all we need is a few brave nations to lead the way and others will follow,this world cup is a disgrace to football and what it should stand for and everyone including the players know it.

      there is a lot more nuance to it than that. you have to keep the players in mind. for a lot of football players it is the highest stage and greatest honor to represent your country in the WC. and since they are only every 4 years and you arent guaranteed to make it in. some people never get to play a wc nothing is guaranteed. for some like messi this is their last opportunity. seems like a lot to ask of these athletes to sacrifice their dreams to fix some corrupt shit out of their hands.

    I’ve just watched the whole Netflix doc. It never says if any fifa executives actually served any time in jail. Which seems baffling to me. Whether they did or didn’t. Why wouldn’t it say, at the end of the film? And now I’m trying to google this, and can’t find a thing. Anybody know ? Also, is it a little curious that the US gets the 2026 cup, and then all these trials never lead to any actual prison sentences? I’ve never seen anyone bring that up before. How can hundreds of millions of dollars be missing, and nobody goes to jail?

    I love football (or for Americans, soccer). Still, I wouldn’t watch or even pay too much attention to this year's world cup, because the 2022 world cup is the highest level of the bribes & corruption in FIFA, as well as the violation of the human rights & living that happens at the host nations makes me feel like, Nah I would skip this one.
