The Scotland match last night followed exactly the same pattern as the Bayern Munich v Aberdeen match at the Allianz in 2008. Bayern went 4-0 up, Aberdeen got a late consolation goal and then Bayern scored an even later goal to make it 5-1, and so it went for Germany v Scotland last night. As soon as we scored to make it 4-1 I was thinking that Germany would score another and it would be 5-1 in the end. To be honest I wasn't expecting much against a Germany team who will be one of the favourites to win the whole tournament, it's just a real shame we capitulated so badly. We surely have to be better in the next two games.
Yes I had exactly the same thought at 4-1. Aberdeen played a lot better that night(admittedly not a high bar)

That was an absolute embarrassment. I didn’t expect much playing against Germany as the hosts but my god the performance was atrocious, need to be starting gilmour to have a bit more composure in the middle of the park and try and keep the ball better and build through phases like we have been doing instead of booting it long. The first touch and awareness of the players was way off too so hopefully they can get a grip and give a good account of themselves in our next two games.

I rather doubt anyone who has followed Scotland closely over the last 12 months would have been remotely surprised by this result and performance. The team's confidence was totally shot after those friendly defeats by England and France. We have been totally gash since.

Clarke being found out, he’s predictable, negative and unable to implement a plan b when things go wrong…playing one up front was always going to be an issue as it meant we let the Germans come at us as we sat too deep….embarrassing stats at the end of that humiliating defeat…

It's not the scoreline that irks me.
It's the negative tactics from the kick-off.
it's the inability to implement a Plan B when Plan A was obviously not working.
Its the gutless and spineless manner in which we capitulated.
Every German who received a pass had a minimum 5yrds space/time to do with the ball what he pleased.
Zero shots at goal.
Zero corners won, and the lowest tackle count since records began.

And even worse was the constant negativity from Graham Souness in the studio, completely writing Scotland off before a ball was even kicked. The coverage on STV was almost as embarrassing as what happened on the pitch. Is it any wonder that our players are lacking in confidence when ex players / TV pundits constantly slate them?

...as a German living in Scotland, I kept fingers crossed for both teams, but alas, it did go badly for the Sco'ish... not yet all is lost... there will be better days, and they may still go through to round 2 - I hold the vision. Scotland might not win this EM, but they might get the title for the most friendly, best dressed (the kilts!!!) and original fan appearance... I LOVE Scotland!!

As an Englishman I really wanted Scotland to do well, fantastic support and some good players. But they simply went missing last night, couldn't believe how bad the keeper was either. Fair enough Germany are a quality team and on their home turf, but those Scotland players completely let their country down last night. Not expecting much from England either to be fair...

I’m lucky or unlucky enough to have been around to support Scotland in the World Cup in Argentina , the 2 “ easy games” we bombed against giants Peru and Iran that meant we had to beat Holland the hard team by 3 clear goals to keep going, at one stage we were beating Holland 3-1 , we beat them 3-2 and went out while Holland went all the way to the World Cup final with host Argentina , so you never know 😉

Scotland were well up against it and the ONLY way to affect the game was to go hell for leather at it. And Clarke didn't. And it was a massacre. Couldn't get out of their own half. The players in that team have so much ability to do better than that negative crap.

the tartan army are their own worst enemy, over hyping and over expecting the result, If you are placing the team on a pedestal then the only way is down. prob a good idea in selling the tickets, a draw a win will be needed to get out of the group and that doesnt look realistic

Last night was shockingly bad but the fact there is still two games to turn it round and you have taking the huff and went home says alot about you. i dont go to scotland games as ive seen the the movie too many times but if i had went to the trouble of going to germany i would be waiting till atleast see if we can still qualify.
