The trick is to allow the saliva in your mouth to bring out the flavor of the candy by NOT eating it too fast or chewing too hard. Just allow it to exist in your mouth for awhile. I lived for many years on the Pacific side of the Cascades (for our NZ friends, Idaho is on the continental side) and blackberries were my happy snack when hiking or even just commuting . Many times I would take a plastic container with a lid while commuting, and when I had a long wait between transfers, I'd wander off and pick fresh blackberries from along the back of a nearby parking lot or along the train tracks. By the time I got to work, I'd have picked my breakfast. Just rinse and mix with a little yogurt. Delicious and perfectly fresh.

I grew up eating wild huckleberries in southern Mississippi. They are, to me, a tiny, slightly more tart kind of wild blueberry. My grandmother used to make a huckleberry cobbler that we would have with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Brings back a lot of childhood memories. Love your videos!😊❤

Something to try: This is a kinda Tri-state regional thing in GA-AL-TN. So…you buy a 10 oz. bottle of Coke and a pack of Tom’s salted peanuts.
Pop open your ice cold Coke and take a good swig. Okay, now open that pack of peanuts, holding the bottle by the end so your cupped fist makes a tiny funnel around the lip, pour those Tom’s salted peanuts into your Coke, and enjoy! You get a few peanuts with every swig and it’s amazing.
The name we called it was wayyy political incorrectness, but “Southern Peanut Milkshake” will do.

Owyhee is the original British spelling of Hawaii, and is pronounced almost identically. When Captain James Cook discovered the Sandwich Islands (now Hawaii), he called the natives Owyhees, which was the word the natives used for homeland. Some of those natives later sailed on to the Columbia River basin with trappers and fur traders. Some of those Owyhees sailed further up the Columbia to explore its tributaries, one of which was the Snake River that runs through Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The older spelling of Owyhee survived in the Idaho region near Oregon and Nevada in honor of those early native explorers from the Hawaiian Islands.

Dear New Zealand Family, I am in Texas in West Texas, I am on Social Security, it is a national retirement system set up by one our greatest Presidents. Franklin D Roosevelt, he died in office during one of Americas greatest wars. World War 2. It is enough for me to live a comfortable live. I live in low income housing and have a monthly allotment for food. I wish I could send you some food but my situation does not allow it. Just know that I and many of my friends and my caretaker enjoy your program so much. I especially enjoy watching Atlanta cook. I have to make sure I have food with me when she cooks as I get hungry watching her cooking program. Thank you for your programs and your ideas of our life here in America.

    Hello My New Zealand Family,
My 40 year old son shared with me your Vlog saying that I would enjoy your family and he was correct. I’m watching almost daily along with catching up with past videos.
One of my favorite utube character (s-when his wife is on) that does USA comparisons mostly compared to the UK but he is quite funny. He is of the UK who has found himself married to an American and lives in America 🇺🇸
His name is Lawrence Brown and his Vlog is “Lost in the pond”. He loves sharing things about the US. The man has gone through big physical looks as far as early on he was very, what I would call “clean cut” short hair and button up shirts, to currently a crazy head of hair and beard and mostlyT-shirts.
He’s great for a laugh and you may enjoy some of your home schooling - not only Arizona and Denzel but Mom and Dad also.

I grew up with Huckleberries, the house I grew up in was built by my great grandfather in 1911 and he had Huckleberry bushes planted on the east and west sides of the house. As a small boy I would wriggle under the branches of the bushes up against the house wall and eat till I was stuffed the berries that nobody else went to the trouble of getting off the bushes. To me the most European/UK fruit they resemble are Current berries, not sure if anyone imported those to NZ when they colonized. The best Huckleberry treats are preserves for putting on toast and waffles or best of all Huckleberry Ice cream! Unfortunately the bushes do not take well to mechanical harvesting so they have to be hand picked which makes the cost prohibitive in many parts of the country. The most famous Huckleberry is of course the character created as a foil for Tom Sawyer in Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.😇
